RJ,
As much as I at times would like to settle down and work in one place, I find that my work has me travel.  I am an engineer that works on large construction projects.  Many times now I get asked for because I have a reputation of getting things done on time and on budjet.  Time is money to some of these companies.

The second part is that I am single, widower, and all my children are grown up.  I've always had the itch to travel and the Marines didn't do anything to calm that itch. After 23 years in the Marines I continued as an engineer. I find that most people when they retire make their first priority to travel and see the world.  I do that all the time with my job.

I once told my children that when I'm 75 years old and can't do many of the things that I do now, I don't want to say "I wish I had done that or gone there".  And yes I make very good money at what I do. SmokinJoe says I should spend some of that so I bring him a bottle of medicine everytime I get the chance to ride with him.

As an engineer I find that once I start a project I am working myself out of work.  So I guess to answer your question RJ, No I can't seem to stay in one place.  But I've worked in 25 different countries, been in every major ocean or sea. Crossed the equator as a shellback and a golden shellback.  Been through the Panama and Suez canals.  Worked above the Artic Circle in both Norway and Russia.  Seen and ridden a motorcycle in all 50 states.  Some many more times that others.

While doing that I have raised three children who are strong sensible adults and have five grandchildren who I spoil as much as possible when I can.

Gooder on ya Charlie, Semper fi Bro.

I've ridden MGM in all the 49 on this side of the pond, and rented a Harley to ride and get a picture of the Capitol in Hawaii.      I've been in the other 49 states 3 times each, Hawaii, only once.

Mom & I have been hinting around to go to Hawaii again before I turn 85.   So I got less than 5 years to get it done.

Charlie,

Except for the part about being a widower it sounds like you're living the dream.  Repeatedly working yourself out of a job only to be requested for a new job and location, seeing the sights, making the money to support your whims, and grandchildren to spoil.  It just doesn't get much better than that.

You are right Carl, but, I'm afraid it would get old after awhile.   I know when I was doing my running in 97 & 98 after my bypass, I know it got tiresome, but I knew I had a wonderful wife waiting for me after every trip.   Also she would send me clean clothes and I'd ship back my dirty ones.      You got it boys & girls she is definetly a KEEPER.

I'd come home, stay a month or less and then hit the road again for a couple of months.

I almost called oZ when we got the 1st set of mugs, and asked if I could come to California and take them around state to state.    I had to go in for a bunch of tests and it never happened.    I think it would have been fun to do that.

Don't know what I was doing on the 2nd set......

Ya'll have a nice day, wonderful weekend and I hope Santa Claus brings ya everything ya asked for.

True in part, and some of the interaction is fun although the repeatedly replying to one's own post takes silliness to a whole new level.  Keep in mind that for every thread to which you reply another thread is pushed off the front page.  Truly, some of them need to be pushed and, then again, some may not.

Truth be known, I'm with Salty on this one.   Wink

Merry Christmas, RJ, et al.  May the New Year bring you more blessings than you could ever have imagined.

Just finishing up on the preassembly of the twins toys for Christmas.  Whoever designs these things is a sadist. Never thought I'd need a pistol grip bar clamp, rubber mallet, and Jack Daniels to assemble a 3 level hotwheels play garage. That doesn't even include the 2, 2'x3' sheets of stickers with no instruction sheet as to where any of these things go.

All I do is cut the decal out of the stock, figure out where it goes and then slap it on, move on to the next decal, who needs any damn instructions?.

Well, GreenLantern57 gets the first post of the New Year on our thread of perpetuallity.

Congrats!

Been pretty busy of late. Holidays are drawing to a close for the season. We were sending out Valentine candy displays to the stores day before Christmas eve. Easter is coming up shortly too so the insanity continues. But a little respite for now.

Hope all had a great Christmas and will have a great New Year.

Okay folks, what kind of things did you say you were going to adhere to this great big year of 2013.

I'll start it, not a cotton pickin thing.

That way my wife and my kids won't have anything to holler at me about.
