No decision needed.  There's only one size available.  Happens to be 175/75-16.  Larger diameter than OEM which results in economical cruising - e.g. 3500rpm yields 85mph indicated and for me, 34 mpg even at that speed - sans the trailers of course.

Good to know only 1 choice for the Austone Taxi Tyre.   Second question, what's a good complimentary Front Tire, knowing I'll be riding some dirt/gravel roads in the Western States & Colo.Mountains?

Hey can a flatlander ask a question here?   No?  OK    Smiley

A few of us are planning on a Colorado trip with Buena Vista as G-0, Some will be on F6 - FI bikes and some on 1500 Valks   How will the 1500s do on the trek up Mt Evans?

Thanks

They will do just fine. I put together an annual Pikes Peak or Bust ride up to 14,110. Other than lack of power up that high the Valks run fine.

Update,  booking places was not easy but now done. The soggy bottom Florida boys (and girls) will be invading June 11 for two weeks.  Stays are in Buena Vista, Aspen, Ouray, Durango, Crested Butte and end up back in BV.    Ready for that steak at Quincys steak house.

You're going to LOVE IT! as time gets closer and you've got a plan, give me a shout when you
are getting over MONTROSE way.  Love to chew the fat with other Valkers and maybe share some
miles. Once you get out here you can't estimate your time by miles....  you might add half again
as much time to accommodate the twisty scenic roads and stopping for those "Kodak moments".

Checking to see if  anyone is interested in  a ride to St Francis KS
Motorcycle museum, about a 200 mile trip of flat straight roads, this one's all about the destination.
Have to do this before it gets hot or later in the year.

Still not quite spring here, 15* when I woke up.  I recommend you Florida guys and gals pack your warm gear for Western Colorado this time of year.  It's s'posed to be warming up a bit later this week.  Maybe late April, early May for the museum.  If ya gotta go before then, ya gotta go!   cooldude

We hit BV (our g0) on June 11th. I can't speak for the others but Sherry and I are prepared. Probably our 15th or 16th time there but it has been quite some time.  Do we expect a wet or dry June?

Colorado has 330 days a year of sunshine. June will most likely be dry, and if you do hit rain it will most likely be a refreshing afternoon thunderstorm that you can usually ride in and out of without gearing up.

PS - and now that I've said that it will most likely rain the entire week  you are here crazy2

PPS - just be prepared.

Anyone interested in doing some motorcycle camping this year. Not looking for extreme camping or primitive off road camping. I wouldn't mind doing some of the off road stuff if some of you are interested but not on my Valkyrie. If it turns into off road camping I will buy a dirt bike. I am just thinking that motorcycle camping will give us good reason to incorporate a few more rides this season and add to the adventure. I am sure that Mark and June will be up for this as they are set up. I have mentioned it to Deadpan, Ron, and Dean and they are all in. Looks like I will need to buy some new camping gear as all of my current stuff is Geard towards large family camping. I am thinking that Horsetooth res would be a good place to start. Who's in?  cooldude

Could be a heckuva lotta fun Damon.   I used to do quite a bit of bike camping, but as I get older (and wimpier) a shower and bed sure sound good after a day in the saddle.  Plus, to steal a term from DDT, those dang pooperosity issues come into play.  I could probably join in solo, but I still need to look at that trailer if I want to bring Cheryl and the kitchen sink.  Some great places to camp in this neck of God's country too, but it's not unusual to wake to a frost even mid-summer.  BTW first ride of the season today.  Woo-hoo, literally an ice breaker!  Felt mighty good, but I think Bertha needs a big ol' chug of Berryman's B-12.  She's a bit sluggish but she seems to be hitting on all six.  Had ethanol free in her over the winter, and got a fresh tank of the same in today.  Fingers crossed...

I can't take Ron somewhere that it is going to get cold or he won't come and play with me anymore. I think any place that we stay for now will nave a crapper, picnic table, and a fire ring as a minimum. I don't plan on being uncomfortable. If you are uncomfortable you won't have much fun. I plan on a tent, good cot, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, pillow, and a chair. I have a trailer that I doubt that I will need for my stuff but I plan on bringing it if I need to to have extra room for anything that Ron might need to bring. I told him that if he would come with us that I would do my best to keep him comfortable. I am surprised that he even agreed to try it out with me. I doubt that I would be too excited about it if I were his age but he does very well for himself unless he gets cold and then he is done. It is always more fun when that old goat comes along and if I can help him along I will. He has been a great addition to my family. I need to put my hitch on one my IS and wire it. I have already ordered some gear and am on the hunt for some more. Like I said I don't plan on being uncomfortable. I poured way too much flat work when I was younger. I am not as old as some but I wore out the old body quick. Seth I don't think you would have much trouble camping with Gerryatricts group. Other than Dean I think the rest of us will do our best to stay in a decent range of comfort. Bring it.  cooldude

Tom you had better suck it up and reconsider. You are going to miss a ton of fun. Besides it couldn't be any worse than our ride home the other day and you survived. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Dust off your old gear and come play with us. If Dick and I can drag our old stoved up carcasses out there you shouldn't have any trouble. Check out some of the new cots available. They have come along way. Same goes for the sleeping pads and bags. It's gonna be a blast. I hope.  cooldude

If you go to Horsetooth, I'd stop by and say hi Smiley

Tom you had better suck it up and reconsider. You are going to miss a ton of fun. Besides it couldn't be any worse than our ride home the other day and you survived. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Dust off your old gear and come play with us. If Dick and I can drag our old stoved up carcasses out there you shouldn't have any trouble. Check out some of the new cots available. They have come along way. Same goes for the sleeping pads and bags. It's gonna be a blast. I hope.  cooldude

All my old camping gear rotted away 30 years ago  Grin. If you go to Horsetooth Ron can stay at my house for the night where it's warm and comfy if it gets to cold or uncomfortable Smiley

Oh, and the second day of our trip back was great! 50s sunny, not much traffic on 287. I stopped at the Trading Post Restaurant in Kit Carson on the way back for lunch. Great food and nice looking tall blonde server! It was a good time. I've already forgot about the first day  crazy2 And my new riding boots are supposed to be water "proof" (Gor-tex) but I guess they are not meant to be submersible in underpass floods  Grin.

I came back from the Gathering on Weds, and wish I had hit rain. Instead I hit show! It showed up in Dalhart, TX, and only got deeper and deeper all the way up to Raton, NM. Had my neighbor come rescue me with my trailer. 1st time I had to be rescued on a ride  Cry , but wasn't about to attempt a snowy pass.

We're up for some local camping.  Incl adjacent states.  Prefer improved campsites with showers & elect hookups but can handle more primitive with battery & gas lights.  When it gets hot the A/C in the camper is great & I always like a fan.  Improved sites cost more and may need reservations depending on holiday & demand.  Got a great ap to find them impromptu on my phone - rvparky.  Advantage unimproved - but then toilet & water, you're on your own.  We bring ours.  Nothing like a trout breakfast cooked on a cast-iron 14" skillet as the sun rises.  We have a large SS Coleman cooler to keep the trout - & beer & Mike's & coffee cream & eggs cool.  Having filled it with ice when we left HotGlue's, it still had some ice left Tue 9 days later.  Of course it sat outside so nights were cool.
