We should call this the Inzane 2017 Serkle. I am very happy that regardless of where in the Serkle, it will give me an excuse to ride the Lolo Pass, a famous motorcycling road in this part of the world.  LOL.... |

The VRCC staff decides. It is not as easy as just pick a spot; there a lot of variables If you read the rest of this thread, you can see we're working feverishly to secure the location. You will also see that we are concentrating our efforts within a 350 mile radius (the Serkle) of Yellowstone N.P...  |

The first time I rode there, it was on a borrowed Valkyrie and I'd like to complete the lower 48 on the same bike. BTW, I just zoomed in on the road from Clarkston, WA (next door to Lewiston, ID) south to the Oregon border. It's another 129 and looks to live up to its number! Gotta ride it! That will make 4 along with TN/NC Dragon area, Brazoria County BBQ area, and CO/WY border area. |

How do you think members in the West would get to Maine? If it's in the West, those in the East must traverse the "flats." If it's in the East, those in West must endure them. We're trying to be a bit fair once in awhile. (BTW, Willow was being facetious, IZ17 won't be in Maine) |

Yellowstone hotels are too expensive, but we expect to be within this 350 mile Serkle. |

The first 5 were held in the East, in 2006 we went to Colorado for the 6th and broke all previous records for attendance. Despite heading East again, Colorado held the attendance record until 2010. That year, (first) Michigan beat out Colorado by 3 attendees. Since then, we have not broken 400... although WV came very close. Our worst year (attendance-wise) was 2005 in Kentucky, that was the only time we did not break 300. Attendance drops drastically if we repeat a location. I have no clue as to the location of "the center of the Valkyrie universe." But it would probably be hot and humid, and would get really boring after a couple of times there. People want to see new places (evidenced by attendance drop at repeat locations). It doesn't matter where it is, some people aren't going to like it. We can't help that. Last year, based on complaints from the previous year, I decided to post dates as soon as we knew them and locations that we were considering (rather than waiting until everything was set). Last year, you said you appreciated that; this year it appears that's not good enough. This is by far the earliest we have ever announced the dates and general area. I kind feel like we're cursed if we do, cursed if we don't. If you make plans based on Yellowstone for now, you will be in the ballpark; with only minor refinements needed once we know the exact location. |

I think you'll see a pretty good contingent of members from the Western States and a large percentage of Western Canadian Valks (OK, so it'll be a large percentage of a small number from Canada) at IZ 2017. One thing for sure, the riding and other attractions within the Serkle are spectacular, so those who can and do make the trek from out East certainly will not be disappointed. I know that all of the days I spent riding in a straight flat line to get to and from Morgantown was well worth the effort in order for me to see and ride in your gorgeous State of KY and in WV, and all of the other great sights along the way |

My thought on the flatland riding is the same as most guys. I would install an aux. tank. When I got to the flat lands, I'd hit the Interstate, run up to a comfortable speed (75), hit the throttle lock/cruise control and go. The I'state is the best way to cover ground and the view isn't that much different than the 2 lane country road.

I do a small ride (Crazyhorse Veterans Day Ride) each year and it takes time to plan it. Nothing compared to what is required of the VRCC Staff. Thanks guys and hope to see you at Inzane next year.

Thank you Mr. McCain. It's comments like yours that make things worthwhile. There are some folks that need to go back and review there general board post history and compare positive post's to negative ones. I think some would have to dig pretty deep to find a positive post, about anything. Thank you to all that have made it a point to put InZane, the volunteers of this great club, and the VRCC staff in a positive light. Sometimes it really is a thankless job no matter how hard we try. I look forward to sharing Inzane 17 with you. |

Probably stating the obvious here, but indulge me... It's WAY to early for feelings to get hurt about Inzane XVII. We already have a good handle on next year's date, and I for one was very surprised to see even a hint of a possible location for the gathering barely a month after the last one concluded. Our VRCC staff deserve all the credit for this.  No doubt some of us Easterners are going to be disappointed at next years Inzane location. BikerGirl and I typically ride between 450-500 miles per day on our road trips. It would be a four to five day trip each way for us to ride the 2200 odd miles to reach a Ground Zero somewhere in Southern Idaho or Northern Utah, and that is if we stopped to see nothing along the way. Add the five days for the actual event and we're over a two-week commitment of time and expenses to attend Inzane XVII. My wife and I are blessed to be retired and our time is our own, but I recall working for a boss whose opinion was that if I could take a two week vacation then I wasn't really needed. Even with 20+ years with the organization it was like pulling teeth to get a lengthy period of time off. I would not be able to attend next year's Inzane were I still working. Given our situation in life today we do hope to make it next year if at all possible. So...I understand the frustrations - but I agree it is only fair that our friends out West have opportunities to attend this fun, worthwhile event without burning through too much leave time and/or ticking off their boss!  Hope to see as many of our East Coast area friends at Inzane XVII as can possibly make the trip by Valk, car, or plane. And, thanks to our Staff for the early notice and great planning for next year's gathering. |

I would like to know the dates ASAP, the location not so much. I would like to camp in Yellowstone for a few days before or after Inzane. Yellowstone has been on my bucket list since I bought the Valk.
In the summer of 1966 I rode out west on a H-D 883 XLH Sportser with a friend on a FLH from Milwaukee. For several days, we camped at the Old Faithful campground which appears to no longer exist. That two weeks was the first, and is the most memorable, motorcycle journey of my life...

This year I can ride from home, I know about how many days to request off so my employer and I can plan for my absence. Also hopefully I can ride with the fine folks from the Colorado group and anyone else who wants to ride with us! |

In the summer of 1966 I rode out west on a H-D 883 XLH Sportser with a friend on a FLH from Milwaukee. For several days, we camped at the Old Faithful campground which appears to no longer exist. That two weeks was the first, and is the most memorable, motorcycle journey of my life...

What!!?  Willow? Facetious? Say it ain't so!  ...
No doubt some of us Easterners are going to be disappointed at next years Inzane location. BikerGirl and I typically ride between 450-500 miles per day on our road trips. It would be a four to five day trip each way for us to ride the 2200 odd miles to reach a Ground Zero somewhere in Southern Idaho or Northern Utah, and that is if we stopped to see nothing along the way. Add the five days for the actual event and we're over a two-week commitment of time and expenses to attend Inzane XVII.
