I found Valvoline 10W 40 specifically for 4 stroke motorcycles at Walmart.  What say you my Valk pals?

any diesel oil will be much, much, better and at a lower cost.   A diesel oil has to survive being used as a hydraulic oil to operate the injectors, then protect the exhaust hot bearings of a 10k+ rpm turbo, survive the high shear conditions of a long stroke crank/piston and finally has to last for a 6-8k oil change interval. Big rigs go longer oil changes due to the very large oil pans.
no m/c oil can survive that.

see article  Two-wheelers love oil too!

JASO spec'd motorcycle oil are basically the same specs as heavy-duty diesel oil standards.
JASO does not test oils, manufactures pay a fee to JASO and state their oil meets the specs.

see article, another grade for the heavy-duty upgrade?

even better diesel oils coming into the market much better wear protection and using a 10w30 for better mpg.

I have posted my used oil analysis before using 10w30 diesel oil for 8k miles from the hot summer through a cold winter riding with the bike sitting for 1 month, one of the toughest conditions for an oil. UOA came back normal to low wear and oil was still good for continued use, at least another 2k miles.

for one example there have been posts by others who run rotella 5w40 for 10 k miles and have over 100k miles on the bike.

I have been running that same oil, which I also buy at Wally World, for the last 30 k ( I also run it in my other motorcycle). No problems at all the bike runs and shifts great. It is a bit pricey but hey it's full synthetic what do you expect.  But the last time I was in there at the Walmart they had substituted the Valvoline for some other brand so I don't think I'll be trying that.

I used to recommend the Mobil 1 10W40 Racing 4T Motorcycle (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004U8JH84) as all my bikes shifted better than dino oil.

*But* after the many reports of success using diesel oil, I decided to collect a sample of used oil (Mobil 1 4T) from my Vstrom (18K miles) with less than 5K miles since the last oil change and... I'm not really impressed.

Even though the viscosity was still good, the amount of metals (Aluminum, iron, etc) was a bit on the high side.

After this I decided to try Delo 400 15W-40 on it and I'm planning to do an oil analysis when it reaches 4K miles. My valkyrie next oil change is going to use Shell Rotella 5W40 and I'm also planning an oil analysis on the used Mobil 1 (close to 8K miles).

In my view the Flat 6 engine in our valkyries is really easy on the oil. Any good oil (for motorcycle or diesel engines) should do fine.

Shell Rotella-T6 Synthetic 5W-40 Oil is heavy-duty diesel oil. Though marketed as  engine oil for diesel trucks, Rotella oil has found popularity with motorcyclists as well. The lack of "friction modifiers" in Rotella-6 means it does not interfere with wet clutch operations. (This is called a "shared sump" design, which is unlike automobiles which maintain separate oil reservoirs - one for the engine and one for the transmission.) Shell Rotella-T6 5W-40 provides unsurpassed protection against shear-stability degradation, compared to the leading competitive API CJ-4 5W-40 products. An extremely shear-stable product helps maintain consistent viscosity and oil pressure in the engine. Used oil analysis (UOA) reports on BobTheOilGuy.com have shown wear metals levels comparable to oils marketed as motorcycle-specific  Smiley

Well I was back in Wally world and I see where they restocked the shelf with that Valvoline 4T motorcycle oil, which I will continue to use on both my bikes.   At this point I feel it's as good as anything out there and the price is right, so works for me. Frankly any oil that doesn't have friction modifiers that are going to interfere with a wet clutch is fine, even if it's dino oil, but I'd just as soon stay with the full synthetic.

if u do a UOA, most likely it will shear to a 10w30, most 10w40s do. I even had amsoil 10w40 do it.  any diesel oil will stay in grade, my UOAs always did and at a much lower cost. IMHO every one should do at least 1 or 2 UOAs with their adult oil of choice, so one knows what is happening.

Yeah I haven't done a used oil analysis for any of my vehicles. I'm just not that into it. The person was asking if the Valvoline synthetic motorcycle oil was any good and my answer is yes it's been very good for me. I know the science is clear that synthetic protects better than conventional oil so I go with synthetic. I like this particular oil because it's available at a reasonable price, and as I said I've had good results with it for over 40,000 miles between my two bikes.
