Roswell Population about 95,000

Too much traffic, too many people. To much high density housing being built. Too much creeping taxation.

You get the idea.  >:(

I'm off to many trees, much scenery, many good riding roads.

You get the idea.  :cooldude:

Clayton, GA. Population about 3,000 people.

Rabun County population about 17,000

i take possession of the new place June 1st.

3 bed, 2 bath at about 2,100 ft with a driveway that will be impassable if there's snow or ice. Just off Warwoman Rd on the east side of Clayton. Built in 2014.

Not my furniture in the photos

100 miles from Roswell so close enough to keep in touch with the friends I have here.

No more having to ride for an hour to get clear of the north Atlanta metromess.

Getting my ducks in a row for the move and counting the days.

Very nice. You will love living in the country.

Congratulations Paul.  :cooldude:

That looks like a nice place in a great location.

Did you sell first, or are you doing that 2d?

That has been my dream (to move out of the crap) for many years. (procrastination)

Serk

Our little town is doing the same thing, more crime, toll road from Dallas going through it, train line from Dallas going to it, old pastures being replaced by apartments and endless strip malls.

I wanna bail out and go inna woods but the roots are sunk too deep here for now. Gonna try to stick it out until the kiddos have graduated from high school then thinking about building on my acreage south of Dallas. (11 more years... *sigh*)

Might consider it sooner but the spousal unit and I both need reliable high speed Internet connections for work, and those just aren't feasible out in the woods yet. At least not at a price point mere mortals can afford.

Very nice move and congratulations!

Paul,

I'll repeat it... Congrats! Great looking place! Nice looking house... appears very comfortable and livable! Wonderful location... all that a driveway that mandates first gear only be used!!! Minutes from the twisties, all the conveniences of a city close enough, but still at arm's length... Plus, and no small thing here... lots of eager friends really looking forward to dropping by!!!   :coolsmiley:  Happy for ya, amigo!   :cooldude:

P.S. Good thinking on the no coffee-maker idea! Heck, Gig now has me more than willing to drink instant these days...   :2funny:
Don't just dream it... LIVE IT!

See ya down the road...

Non riding friends mostly have no idea where Clayton is. Some thought I was moving to Clayton County which is south Atlanta and I wouldn't even want to be buried there.

We riders forget that the non riding masses are liable to travel by multi lane roads and very rarely get off the beaten path.

When I tell them it's only 100 miles away there's a glazed look that slides over there eyes as if they are imagining a world without all the modern conveniences of multiple coffee shops, malls, strip malls etc.

I checked online with my Part B,C,D etc Medicare provider and there are more Dr's in Clayton within 5 miles than there are here within 10 miles. And no they aren't the ones who double up as the local vet.

There's even a legal distillery in Clayton https://www.moonrisedistillery.com/

A number of wineries.

'Nd a Home Depot 'nd a WalMart (not sure if that's a plus) ' etc etc. 'nd an Ace Hardware.

So for a small city (Compact, sure) it's quite well served.

Just a few miles away in the hubbub of Tiger, GA there's a drive in movie theater.

Wow, sounds great. I am more than ready to live outside mayhem/chaos. Sarasota used to be like the show Flipper. Not no more!!!!  I have to hang out a couple more years.   This looks like a dream come true,  LUCKY BRIT!

I visited Sarasota in 1991. Stayed on Longboat Key just south of Bradenton Beach.
Went to the Dali Museum.

Congratulations.  Small town, rural America, slower paced living is the bomb and I have liked it.  Now being able to pull this off in the Appalachians has to be the best, and some day.

I've tried to avoid that. There's a 2 lane all the way from my house north BUT now there are so many stop lights and the increased traffic.

Looks and sounds like a great place.
I did the same thing just over a year ago...moved from our long time home of Maple Ridge BC which had grown over the 30 years we were there from 20,000 to 75,000. Now we're back to basics...15 minutes outside of the thriving metropolis of Agassiz, population 3700  :cooldude:

ps....in Atlanta for the first time for work this week. I see what you and others meant  about this city, when I posted a while back asking about getting out and about to see the sites...its hectic here for sure.

I was through Clayton a few years ago. It once was a wide spot on the road, two years ago It was becoming kind of urban. I hope for your sake that trend doesn't continue. The better half and I used to spend a week in Mountain City at the York House every Sept. Once we moved to WI, the necessity to see color in the fall was lessened since we now had it locally. Great area with lots of hospitality, even during the height of tourest season. I remember an old button factory somewhere in the area, maybe closer to Athens. It has no significance to me, I just remember seeing it from the road (I think US 441).

Yep, with a population of 3,000 it's becoming kind of urban  ;D

People seem to flood up and down 441 through there, but get off of 441
and you're ridin' in the mountains  :cooldude:

Wow that's a great looking house, those hardwood floors really shine and that deck is beautiful.

wish you all the best and hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it.

Congrats, you will love it. I wouldn't live in the city and haven't for over 20 years just for the reasons you stated.

:cooldude: I know Clayton, making that trip into and from the western Carolina area on 23 & 76 several times. Great spot to hold up in and enjoy life in your nice looking new home. As much riding as you do I'm surprised you stayed in Roswell as long as you did. I spent 2 years at North Roswell Elementary School back in the 60's and remember when Roswell got their Richway!  :o I Still have family in Roswell, Norcross & Acuworth. They all want to get out! Congrats on the opportunity and "pulling the string" to make it happen!  :coolsmiley:
