Just curious on the age of Valkyrie owners. I fall into the lower portion of Option 1 and feel like I might be one of the "less experienced" members of this board  Cool

It's a pretty geezerly bike nowadays, but many are aging as well or better than their owners.  Let's just say if I'd have had the cash in my early thirties when they were first produced, I would have bought one.  Had to wait until my fifties to snatch mine up!

There was a post like this, maybe 10 years ago...  At that time I thing the majority were in the 50 - 55 year old range, myself included.  I just turned 62, so I'm guessing the average will be closer to that.

So far, I'm the only one in the 41-45 category, but I imagine that will change once more people log in and see this thread.

I just purchased my first ( Roll Eyes ) Valkyrie the other day, and will be picking it up tomorrow, if all goes well. When I was talking to the seller, I mentioned that I wanted one when it was first introduced, and remember the TV commercial with the rider power-sliding the Valk. He almost finished my sentence, so obviously the commercial hit the market well. Back then, my crew was riding sportbikes and/or ratbikes chopped from old Japanese standards. I won't say I was broke, because I was working my hind-end off. But, cheap bikes and expensive women took most of what I made then. BTW, I'm not complaining. It sure could have been worse  Grin .

Well, those expensive women turned into an expensive family, and expensive home, expensive pets, and every other expense under the sun... but, the Valks are much cheaper now.

Yes, definitely in the 66+ crowd. Actually, sorta the +++ crowd. Wink Was planning on riding to InZane this year since it's only 720 miles(a bit over a day's ride) but events at home precluded making the trip.  Still ride when I can get out of the house, today looks pretty good 'cuz it stopped raining, been doing that for the last 10 or more days. Angry Have some errands to run that don't involve large packages so the bike gets the nod....assuming it doesn't start raining again.

As for rotund, no way. I'm undertall....not overweight!  Roll Eyes

I'm actually really proud of my Valkyrie... ever since I learned to ride and saw one on the internet, I knew I had to have one. Most of my friends aren't into classics, more along the lines of sport bikes.   uglystupid2uglystupid2

Don't qualify any more.  Quit riding the Valk when I was 84, quit riding the Vstrom when I was 87. Now driving a Miata at 90.  A little bit like a cycle with the top down.

I'll  be 33 in a couple weeks. Got my walk when I was 25. My brother is 26 and has a tourer. I wish I had more time to ride, but with 2 young boys the bike is kinda on the back burner. The boys think we need to be fishing every weekend.

Well, since the divisions were changed by adding some on the top end, I decided to remove mine from the "66+" and add one to the "76-80" crowd. Problem is, it won't let me....turned 80 this past April. So now you know.

PS: Got a little wind today running errands around town. Not a lot of miles, but still out playing in traffic for a couple hours.  cooldude

I just turned 61 a week ago. Feel like 75 some days when I get out of bed but feel more like 25 when I twist the throttle on my Valk. Age doesn't matter when I hear those 6 carbs feeding the beast! I am looking forward to meeting so many of you at Roanoke in a couple weeks.

I always loved and lusted for the Valkyries since they came out, but being 5’3” tall and inseam challenged, I was leary of getting such a big bike. I finally got an Interstate when I was 50 (now 51) and can’t believe I never got one sooner. I’ve had some fun rides before, but this is my all time favorite!

I'm still in the bulk age category.  cooldude

Paperwork done on my 41st birthday, March of 97. Took delivery early April 97.

Also added a pre-owned 00 Tourer to the stable for a short period early 2000 and later picked up an 00 IS in 09 (?) that I had for several years up until recently where it has now been handed off to my son. Still in the family. Originally got it so he and I could do some touring together.

All 3 fast-blacks.  coolsmiley

Still have the original; ole 97.
