LED Headlights?

Has anyone done one of the conversions to a new LED Headlight on the Valk?

I have had the bike for almost 19 years and one of the two complaints I have had on it is the deplorable headlight. 

Thinking of doing one of these.

    One of theee best upgrades I've done on my Valk(Standard). Don't ride much at night if I can help it. Feel a little more comfy with the LED upfront. If the need arises.
    I went with Josh Chamber's(member on this site) bracket, this allows you to go with a 7" LED and fit effortlessly into your existing headlight bucket. Sooo easy I even was able to do it. Great vid on YouTube to walk you through it. Do a search on here, better yet, here ya go:

I've been looking at these but being a be leaver rightly or wrongly you get what you pay for. The pricing band for this type of headlight is very wide. Does anyone use a cheaper one ?

I use the scoot light brand it was $99 had it a couple years and no problems.

Yep, best upgrade ever. Scootlights has a great price on Daymakers and brand does matter, especially for longevity.

Josh Chambers (on this board) makes a nice conversion bracket to mount the daymakers/etc in our bucket...

I put one in from the bay, it wasn't a real cheap one, I think it was about 20 bucks.
It has a heat-sink with a small fan on it that you can hear when you turn the key on, it's not loud at all but until you start you can hear it. My buddy standing right next to the headlight when I turned the key on did not even notice it.
You can get a tan off of this thing, it should come with some kind of warning not to look into it.
I run it on bright during the day, it's a year old now without issues... It's 6500K
BTW: much lower current through the circuit now also...

Josh's bracket and a set of Sunpie's off @amazon.  45 minutes of effort = one of the simplest most effective upgrades you can do for Safety on your Valk.

I used these lights and am very pleased with the quality.

I am going to go ahead and make the jump.    The windshield I have makes it difficult to put driving lights on so this should help.

I bought the adapter from Josh, but haven't bought the daymaker-style light yet. Money's a bit tight right now (actually, I can't remember when it wasn't). I question the quality of some of the lights on the market. I imagine that they all illuminate better than an H4 bulb, but build quality may result in short lifespan.

I want the better lighting, but if it fails away from home, you can't get a bulb at the local auto parts store.

The LED I use has the same bail wire and electrical plug that OEM bulb uses. In other words it uses the same oem hardware. You have to trim the dust boot but that's it.

What I was referring to is the "daymaker" style, which replaces the whole bulb housing and lens assembly. You could carry your OE one in a saddlebag, I suppose, but that seems like it would take up too much space if you were on a road trip with clothes and supplies. I like to have spare parts. I just don't want to carry one of everything with me.

Do you recall what the depth of the spotlights are?  Trying to figure out if they will fit in my current shells.

I was going to get a set of Eagle Infinity lights. Buy once, cry once.

At a swap meet a few weeks ago I found an OEM H-D LED spotlight pair tucked into a Road King light bar - complete with housings and rings. The whole assembly was bought for a song. FWIW, these are the black units.

Next day I scoured the entire meet for a matching headlight. Couldn't find one but happened upon an H-D OEM black unit on the auction site. Made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

Already had Josh's bracket in hand. I'd been running a Rivco H4 LED bulb in my stock headlight reflector assembly for several years, and while it's the best of that type of light I'd tried to date the projector assembly simply puts more light in a usable spectrum onto the road surface.

My spots are set up to track the Low beam, or can be overridden to go on when the High beam is activated. They'll serve as a backup to the headlight if ever required.

I used the replacement bulb with the fan. No complaints, but if it's were to do it again, I would spend the money with josh and a daymaker or equivalent bulb. The definantly put light where it's most useful.
