I'd run a couple of tanks of ethanol free through the bike. It's good to have a supply just over a mile from my house. Tuesday night I added 5 ozs of Berryman B12 to a full tank and had a quick 2 mile ride. Let the bike marinade overnight. Yesterday morning was cool with low humidity. The ethanol free mixed with the B12, low temperature and humidity seemed to result in a bike that had extra power. 2nd, and 3rd gears from 2,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm pulled like a runaway freight train. Part of my ride. https://goo.gl/maps/BZVU1u8DipA2

Once you're done with Sassafras Mountain, you don't have to go back down to Rocky Bottom on 178... There's a turn not far from the Sassafras Mountain parking lot that leads to a cool network of roads, you can get to Rosman or to Caesar's Head (276)... -Mike "I think I spread mulch on Tuesday..."

There's only one turn, I think... I don't remember the road name... It is especially fun to go down it when the rhododendron is blooming, but I guess that is over by now... -Mike

That's it... notice you can also go down that east fork road to Rosman... Did you stop at Sassafras Mountain? I haven't been there in a year or so. I've read they are "improving" the visitors area. All that was there when I was there last is the gravel parking lot, an overlook platform and a trail to walk the rest of the way up to the top. Here's what you see on the overlook platform - the Blue Ridge peters out onto the piedmont... I found this post with some good pictures: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,85182.0.html-Mike

did you eat at the "Red Hen with Chicks?" The owner had some other gates that were decorated. Couldn't stop on the road side safely to photograph them.
