am sure has been posted before, but an awful LOTS of work to create a 10 second 1/4 mile honda valkyrie vs. around 12.5 seconds stock, give or take....    Still is pretty cool though!

We had a guy hear in Lake Land Mn that owned a machine shop. He had a tour and produced the original trigger wheels. His Nos bottle was hidden where the California vapor canister would have lived, just in front of the swing arm. All the lines going to the intakes were plumbed so as to be hidden. At Sturges the first year of the V Rod they were letting people race a factory HD rider on the new V Rod. The NOS on the Valk was set up to open the NOS at 3/4 Throttle, no button to push. Now picture a guy in bib over all’s and an engineers hat on a Tour. Sitting straight up behind that giant windshield. He ran the V Rod 3 times and shut the factory rider down 3 times. After the third time the factory ride through his helmet and gloves and disappeared into the trailer. He was asked if he ever told the factory guy about his NOS and he goes, no, he never asked. I got to talk to and look over that Valk. You had to know what you were looking for to see the NOS plumbing. Black lines look a lot like vacuum lines.

that is a good story.  I bet the HD Vrod fans were in AWE!  I bet if you take a so-so mediocre rider such as myself on the supposedly faster Vrod and pair me up against a REAL racer on a std. Valk,  the Valk rider might win.  A lot depends on driver and who gets the jump off the line.

Great story!

I have always loved "sleepers".   Love them to look stock a leave wide eyed looks on the faces of those who are doubters.   Though a stock Valkyrie is no slouch, it's still not a race bike.
I would love to see a video of those races if one is available.
The old saying of, anything can go fast if you put enough money into it is applicable.  Then again, the Valkyrie doesn't need all that much to make it faster than a lot of things on the road.

Nitrous ? A little [maybe] story. Decades ago when it was first heard of , at least by us, I had to try it. Got a bottle from the hospital and not knowing a single thing about it hooked it up to luckily a not much of a SBC just to see what happens. That little engine went like hell for a matter of a few seconds and then grenaded like I've never seen an engine come apart before.  Of course I didn't know about metering or adding additional fuel. It was interesting though.

This guy tried a cheap nitrous system on a 4 stroke bicycle kit.  I wonder if such a thing would give the Valk a small boost.

Clicked on his name in the thread you linked, and it says he was last on today. No recent posts though.

The guy I bought my (super)valk from in MA had it set up with a two bottle wet-shot nitrous hook up.  It was explained to me that this was perhaps the easiest and least add-on horsepower setup you could do.

His son was involved in nascar and an automotive engineer, and he helped him with the setup.  It had a black lacquer bottle mounted in stainless rings to the bag rails, on the front of each saddlebag, and plumbed with braided stainless.

He told me he ran it down the quarter mile track twice, and that was enough for him.

I explained that nitrous was illegal in VA, and with an obvious visible rig, I couldn't have it (and didn't really want it anyway for reliability issues), so he took the rig off before I rode up on the Amtrak to buy it and ride it home.  The bike still has the nitrous toggle switch on the right pod.

History shows I can get into all the trouble I need with just a stock bike.  Grin
