Accessory power block ideas???

I'm looking to install an accessory  power block on my 97 I/S for fog and driving lights, GPS, Gerbings for the wife etc...

Relays may be needed due to power draw from the lights.

I'd like it to be key activated so no power switches get flipped by accident, leaving us with a dead battery at the wrong time.

I've been using this one from Electrical Connections: http://www.electricalconnection.com/power-distribution/pplate.htm

It has a relay which is triggered by the accessory plug-in under the right side cover. It also has a connection for a battery charger which is disconnected when the key is turned on.
You can get a ground bus for a 110/220 panel boxfrom Home Depot or Lowes. The one I bought was too long so I cut it in half and used the 2nd piece for another bike.

This is what I installed.  Nice compact package fits under right sidecover on a clear polycarbonate plate I fabricated.   The plate is held in place with tie-wraps so it can be easily removed to access underneath.  The sealed, weatherproof feature makes this location suitable...sorry for the fuzzy picture.



What isn't shown in this picture is the rubber cover that encases and protects the fuses.

I bought mine from Autozone about 3 years ago for about $45.

That is a nice looking panel........ be good to post a pic when you get it installed..

Does it have built in relays and just require a battery hookup and ignition status wire or do you need to supply two separate power sources to it for the keyed/unkeyed sections to work??

I hooked my ap1 up using advice from the VRCC so that it is only hot when the key is on.

I bought one at auto zone. Some one posted how to do it last summer. Its inside my side cover and i have it secured with a small bungi for easy access behind it.

I just got one of there, to nistall on the Valk, for the Faring radio, and power socket.



Some will say it's over kill, but I went with the bussman one the VTX, and I was not that happy.
