I use rotella oils in any freshened up or rebuilt engine I put together,,One of the few, if not the last oil to use zinc in it's formula..after rebuilding one motor, using assembly lube, pre-oiling and all that, to have a flat cam in a few minutes due to no zinc in the oil I'd used..no problems since, with at least 4 additional motors

I use it too.  Mostly satisfied but there might be more tranny noise than with either Mobil 4T or Amsoil.  Not enough to stop using it especially when factoring in price over the Amsoil or Mobil 4T stuff.

Mobil Delvac has a high concentration of zinc, I used T6 for about 30,000 miles but have gone to the mobil delvac, less engine and tranny noise.

+1 on Mobil Delvac and it's less expensive. I just bought some at Walmart for 9.85 a gallon.

Yes, I used only Amzoil 10/40 bike oil, but the price went too high.  I now have 4-5 changes in each Valk with Rotella T6.  Good stuff, bike runs cool.  I change every 5-6K.  I do believe the Amzoil was a little quieter, but I'm not paying their price.

Mobil Delvac has a high concentration of zinc, I used T6 for about 30,000 miles but have gone to the mobil delvac, less engine and tranny noise.

I have used Rotella for about 9 years and no complaints, BUT if Mobil Delvac reduces tranny noise I might try. I don`t know what weight you guys are talking about. Any help ? Tranny noise is my ONLY thing I dislike on my Tourer.

I use shell (rotella) 5w 40 fully synthetic with a 7317 supertech filter in my bike. I use 15w 40 in my deisel pickup and use penzoil ultra synthetic in my car because the toyota 3.0 motor is susposidly known as the sludge monster. I may be switching to 5w 40 rotella in all my vehicles because I have only heard good things about it.

There is only one wieght of Mobil Delvac (I think). It is in a black jug, not sure but believe it is 5-40. I run it because of the zinc and price. I change every 5k regardless of which oil I use. It seems quieter to me and I know it looks and feels thicker when pouring it into and taking it out of the bike than the T6 did.

Yup, great price and got the good Zinc in it. I think because its formulated for Diesel motors and the law pulled Phosphates (zinc phosphate) out of oil for gas motors.

There are several types of Delvac, some pure Diesel oils and others mixed fleet.
Some straight grades and others multi grade.
Used to use Delvac 1240 in my Landcruiser and Mercruiser engines. It was specifically designed for Detriot 2 strokes but was fine as a mixed fleet oil.

The Mobil Delvac they carry in the Walmarts around me is all 15W40 which is a pretty standard grade for diesel oils.

Yep, I looked at the jug in the garage last night 15w40, my bike mechanic, also a diesel mechanic says zinc is good for high pressure engines and also keeps the oil cleaner. I trust him, life long friend and has never done anything but work on vehicles for a living.

T6 is an oil specifically marketed for diesel truck engine use.  I have been using it for a couple of years with good results.  It is available in four quart jugs at my local Walmart.  One jug per oil change convenience!!  http://www.shell.com/rotella.html?gclid=CPaNpJanlb0CFYtDMgodyw4A_g

Expensive??? Not really! The Mobil 1 15w50 at Wal Mart is only about $3 higher than the Rotella T6. Besides the Mobil is 5 qt container vs the 4qt jug that Rotella comes in. Both are very good oils in my opinion but the Mobil keeps my girl quieter.

see all zinc levels   shell 5w40 not listed but their 15w40 is, IMO Chevon Delo is one of the best out there right now, it even has high levels of boron which is a excellent anti-wear additive and cleaning agent, supertech also specs out very well and has given outstanding used oil analysis reports for m/c.  looking at the specs motorcraft is shell 15w40

see my posts, it didn't do well in tests. much better oils out there at a lower cost. the only RP oil that has done well in tests is their $$$$ racing oil.

The site link above states Olive high levels of zinc are not recommended for engines that have a lot of blow by because the sink can build up...what does have anything to do with ported heads?... That's voice to text for you

I'm not adverse to good aftermarket filters, but bought a pile of the hondas awhile back.

I use Rotella T6 Synthetic 5W-40. Works well when on the Valkyrie 1520cc and Goldwing 1800cc.
As for the filter, I  use the Purolator Pure One PL14610 with a Chrome Oil Filter Cover ($1.79 Salt Shaker).
I change oil at 4 to 5 thousand miles or once a year.
