Since we are global for finances and business, I personally think Daylight Savings time should be abolished. Especially since we only have a few month without it now.  If they are worried about the kids and school, quit making MEGA schools so kids can go to a local neighborhood school and don't have to be picked up at 6:30am in the bus.

Er... please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we get an extra hour of sleep on the fall back (I.E. Last night)...

2Am becomes 1AM, so the time period from 1AM-2AM we get to sleep through twice, basically...

Or to put it another way, it takes 2 hours to get from 1AM-2AM last night...

(And I'm just waiting for someone from AZ to pipe up and ask what silliness we're talking about... ;) )

i DID THE SAME THING..  Don't have an alarm clock set.... it's just my normal get up time.....  At least I didn't have to wait 2 hours for the sun to come up....
But it sure did get dark early...but really.... there are only so many hours of daylight in any given day.

When told the reason for daylight saving time the old Indian said...
'Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.'

It bothered me when I worked (and cared what time it was), but now that I'm retired it makes no difference.  I get up and go to bed whenever the heck I feel like it.

My alarm has never gone off again since my last day of work.
(Well once, to make sure I got up for an early ride, but that ruins the story.)

No time changes here. The last thing we need is for the sun to stay up longer after work. Damn thing is so hot we want it to go down ASAP. If you want to move out here, please don't. There's too many people here now.

Don't give a darn, retired ,wake up whenever go to bed whenever.I don't wear a watch and have no alarm clock.Sun up sun down that is my clock. :)

In answer to your question, yes someone deserves an Ass Whoopin.

There you now have a second, and the motion is on the floor for discussion.

Now the vote.

Regardless of spring ahead or fall back, you lose an hour of awake time anyway...just figuring out how to change the clocks on all the electronic devices in the house.  Then, when you think your done, the next time you get in the car...one more clock to change!

JimmyG

A brilliant man came up with it at a time when it made sense. that time has passed now, it's time to do away with it. My vote is yea!

cookiedough

I like the extra hour of sleep since cannot have too much napping time, but sure do hate the darkness 1 hour earlier.  Pretty soon it will be dark at 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon now that surely sucks.  Even though I dislike the whole concept of switching clocks back and forth,  I like the spring better since stays light out until 8 p.m. or so.  which is nice to get stuff done when get home from work for the majority of us.  Whether dark or light going to work makes no difference to me,  you still have to go to work which is a bummer no matter if light or dark.

Work nights, so I leave for work in the dark and I come home in the dark most of the year anyway. But having to work solo shift over this fall back crap really sucks I work 9 hours and get paid for 8,,,, well I am salary so I am stuck working 8+ with no extra compensation all year anyways.

Leave my damn clocks alone, there is enough confusing Sh!t in my life already.

I remembrer seeing an editorial cartoon back in the day where Tricky Dick was explaining just exactly that. I was going to post it, but after an extensive and exhaustive search (about 30 seconds on google) I was unable to locate it.

F6gal probably has a strong opinion about it  :cooldude: it's really confusing for OTR truckers until you realize that during DST AZ is the same as CA.

G-Man

I remember that we learned in school (waaaaaay back) that DST was for the farmers.  Due to the earth's tip on its axis, in the spring and summer months, the sunrise is earlier, so, we set the clocks ahead so the farmers can begin their within the same "daylight" frame (not "time" frame).  I've had a few discussiona about this over the past few years and only one other person said he was taught the same thing,

BTW, my son is in 7th grade and hasn't learned anything about DST.

It would be nice to be able to ride home from work on the bike in daylight

430 is kinda early for the streetlights to come on to me anyways

No choice tomorrow as car is almost out of gas so motorcycle will get some windage as it still has half a tank

The lines I saw today were about 1-2 hrs so I just passed em by   A line that streches for six city blocks or more is 1-2 hours
