Here ya' go:

Tell it what state(s) you're licensed in and it will help you plan your route around the non-free states.

If you are carrying concealed, with a permit, just don't tell anybody.  That's why it's called concealed.  Oh, and don't break any traffic laws.  Hoser  ;)

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous.
It is however, extremely unforgiving of: inattention, ignorance, incompetence or stupidity.

It's not the people at the rally that I'm worried about...

But I carry even when I'm not expecting trouble for the same reason that I wear a helmet even if I'm not riding on any "dangerous" roads, and why I put my seat belt on when I'm in the cage even if I'm just going to a friend's house across time.

so, according the the map at the provided link, our texas cw permit is not honored in NY, but a NY issued cw permit is honored in texas.

It also doesn't look like a ny cw permit can travel thru any state that is adjacent to ny...what do your neighbors know that we don't?

Don't know why crossing a state line would change your mind set . If  you feel the need to carry , the need doesn't end because a state law says so . Carry , feel safe  .

hotglue #43

The attempt is to do so legally....hard to do in the northeast or the pacific west.   that would be the blue states for the most part.

blue=3 times
green=at least 4 times

Because by going through a state, buying things there, staying there possibly, etc, we are supporting that state. And if a particular state chooses to ignore a person's right to self defense, then I go out of my way to avoid giving that state any support whatsoever, and route around it.

Weird, I carried full time for over 35 years, then I retired and put 242K + miles on MGM, NO carry, never once did I have a need or use for it.

So I don't carry the extra baggage anymore.

I've lived this long and still a kickin, so I guess, it hasn't been my time as of yet.

Peace.

Shouldn't Illinois be blue too?  It is about the WORST state for gun carry.  Impossible to do legally.

Looks like there's no way to legally carry to Inzane. Only neighboring state I can carry in is NH and that's not on the way. Not sure I want to risk carrying illegally in ANY state so...the pie is safe. :cooldude:

Carry and transport are two  different things, are they not?

Even if you can not legally 'carry' across certain states, perhaps you can follow a different set of rules that allow you to 'transport' a weapon across that state?

Legally, yes, but that won't stop some of the less enlightened LEO in less-free states from harassing you anyway. Here's some good reading if you're interested on the topic:

In no-reciprocity states (or even if you have no permit), you just unload the pistol, store it and the ammo in separate containers (zipper softcase, need not lock), and put them in a saddlebag (the same saddlebag is fine (cars only have one trunk), and it need not be locked, though it should be if you get off the bike).  Then load it and keep it in your motel room for the night.  Repeat.

This two-container rule, for both pistol and ammo is generally good in most of the country....... however, this general rule may still not be legal in NYC, DC, Chicago, ILL, CA, NJ, MA.  You have to use the various web sites to review the rules for each state you will travel in.

http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/articles/2010/guide-to-the-interstate-transportation.aspx

http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/926A

http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/USRVCarCarry.pdf

And as a side note, in OH, carrying your ammo separate from the pistol, but preloaded in a mag or speed loader, is still a no-no and considered carrying concealed illegally, even though carried in two separate containers.  I know of no other State that has this requirement.  Of course, this is otherwise the best way to carry your ammo (in loaded mags and speedloaders)

And never ever consent to a search of your vehicle/bike........ blame your (imaginary) bother-in-law attorney who told you not to.  Any issue of unlawful search and seizure is waived if you give voluntary consent to a search.  But I will cooperate in any way (including allowing them to do a warrantless search without consent), and if you want to try for a warrant, I will wait quietly while you do so.

I separate my my gun and ammo when I go thru Ill or KS. The ammo/mag goes in the saddle bag that has my ID/bike registration. I make sure to put the mag at the bottom and ID near the top so he wont be able to see the mag. Pistol under my rain gear, and lock the bag. Then haul ass thru the State.

I been stopped in Indy and he never cared about the pistol laying in the bag. Gave me crap for having a EMS badge.  :crazy2:

you can apply for an amended permit (I think that is what they call it) in Pennsylvania. I rode down there 2 years ago and a few of the guys I rode with stopped at a State Police station and showed them their permits, paid a small fee and can now carry in PA as well. Check into it, just my .02

And after nothing is found in my vehicle, that dog is off the list of reliable K9s.

Fudge, my point is to not consent...... but if they commence to search anyway with no warrant (and no PC), you may not physically try to stop them.  Even if the search and any seizure is later thrown out in court, you'll still be convicted of interfering w. investigation, assault on PO, and/or resisting arrest.

RAS, reasonably articulable suspicion, is for a pat down for weapons.

PC, probable cause, is for a full search.

PC requires a greater showing of evidence than RAS.

T.P.

Wisconsin is an OC state according to the chief of police, Campbell, WI

Well, when you are showing it off, I hope to hell I'm not around and that it is been checked to see if it was loaded.    Too many people around at InZane to be showing off your pea shooter.

When I was working, I came home, took off my belt and placed the weapon in the lock box, closed it and finished undressing.

When I went to work, it was the last thing to be put on.    When I got outside, either ready to get on the motor or in the squad car I pulled it, inserted the clip and put it back in the holster.

Too many people think a weapon is a toy to play with.   They are not a toy and they are dangerous in the wrong hands.      Some of those wrong hands are CC people.
