Well, a major milestone for us... she had 700,009.7 miles when I parked her today... Hard to imagine all the folks who've had a hand in making this possible, but... for them and all they've done, we are eternally grateful!!! Thanks everybody, it's been one heck of a ride!!!

The Earth is a hair over 24,901 miles around the middle.

So 700,000 miles is over 28 times around the Earth.

The moon is 238,900 miles from Earth.

And 700,000 is 2.93 times to the moon.  (only 16,700 to go to make it 3)

I don't believe I've put 700K on all my bikes and cars put together since I got my license in 1969.

My 98 Tourer is currently at 193,558 and Bruce's post makes me feel unworthy!  :o

DDT (12)

Terry/Digger,

Congratulations on that significant milestone! One heck of a lot of miles/smiles, and certainly a very big deal! The 'mileage', however, is just a number to mark and measure some distance. The real gauge, as you obviously already know by now, is in all the fond memories accumulated over time as that number rolled over. Congrats on your 'journey', and I commend you for continuing to move ahead! It was a pleasure to get to know you a little bit at the Fling, and I look forward to the next time!

Bruce, my hat's off to you my friend, I wasn't aware of you hitting that milestone until today. I've been riding for many years but never with the consistency of your travels. Here's hoping you're able to continue. :cooldude:

Yeah....lots of memories on motorcycles over the years.   I too enjoyed our talks at the Fling.   I had a hood time meeting everyone and putting a face with their handles. Been a very long time since I rode formation.....had a little trouble staying in a staggard formation....used to having the whole lane to myself...ha.
As far as continuing on and moving ahead.....thats all we got left.

Rio Wil

Update on the ole gal.......its taken a few years to put on the last 50K.....OK highways are just not as inviting as CA and mid summer and mid winter just don't lend to riding year round.....UGH.
The ole gal is showing a bit of age, she is acting like a Harley and peeing a drop or two of oil from the left cam bearing seal, thats on the list to do. Rebuilt both front forks recently for the second time.....not too bad.  Its time for a 5K oil change and a 15K spline lube. My 5th Pirelli 205-65-16 is only got about 15K on it so its good for another 35K which might be about time to retire the beast. Its been a good ride....California to Georgia to Montana to Canada to Alaska and about everywhere between. Loved the tree of shame at Deals Gap.... :cooldude:..
Don't mean to sound a bit melancholy....still lots of sights to see and at 78 can't dally too long......

Well. I've been slowing down as I age. Not getting near the 10,000 miles plus per year like I used to. Lucky to get 8K. The bright side is one oil change per year. I'm at 182,000 and she still looks purty good

When I got my bike, which I've run from 24K to 102K, it was kind of sad,
and had had at least two previous owners.

I've done all the maintenance on it since I got it, I think it is pretty swell now.

Tires, forks, vacuum lines, air filters all that stuff is straight forward even
if you have to "learn how" as you go, those things are easy to do over if needed.

I've never messed with my carburetors or timing belts or valves...

I took my bike to Jared Hinkle in Spartanburg SC last week...

https://www.valkyrieflatsix.com/contact

We spoke last night, my bike is ready. The belts were "in need". Five of my
intake valves were tight. Left side spark plugs showed rich. I bought new
OEM belts and tensioners and springs a long time ago, they're all in now.
He (nor I) thought it ran bad before, but he exclaimed how nice and snappy it
is now  :cooldude: ... I guess I'll have a fun two hour ride home on Monday...

The vinyl on my Ultimate is just starting to crack. I ordered a new one a few weeks
ago. I'm real interested in a set of Bitubo shocks now that Ross has gotten a set
and likes them a lot.

I sure do like this motorcycle!
