Un-real. I have been there several times and seen that hunk of meat. I would never attempt to eat even one of those. How you could put that much food in your gut in that amount of time is crazy. That girl can eat.  :cooldude:

I bet that girl can rip some crazy mean (restaurant-clearing) farts.

Mine are pretty decent with just an 8oz burger and one beer.

Serk

Very impressive... This Big Texan would DEFINITELY be careful to keep all meat well away from that lady's mouth!

Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

WOW! Ive seen that steak and it scared me away at 6'4" tall and 300#  if you watch you can see her face change at about the 10mn mark.  I'd be willing to bet that didn't all stay in for very long after that vid was taken.   As for her meat eating capabilities... Just don't ask her for a Blow.......

Wow!  That girl weighs 120 pounds.  With the steak anmd potatoes she has just about ten percent of that in her belly.  Wow!   :o

She did not chew it.  She swallowed it in chunks.  I guess food is like firewood:  The more you split it up, the bigger the pile.

Not the least bit impressed by her gluttony. I enjoy my steak and would rather take my time enjoying every bite of it.

At least she never paid for them.   If ya eat em, they is free, if ya don't, they are very expensive, like $72.00.

Been a long time since I was in there, like 1997, so prices may have changed since then.

I stand by my comment even if they are free. It has nothing to do with the monetary value, I'm just not a big fan of any gluttonous acts, includes any food eating contests.

Good lord...now...I like me some steak! I mean, I really like steak! But I like to taste it...I can't fathom attempting ONE of these...much less two AND all the trimmings.

For any that like the math...the two steaks alone are about 12,000 calories.

Jess, from the news article:
QuoteMolly Schuyler, weighing in at 120 pounds ...

If you're looking for a muffin top you may need to look elsewhere from this one.   ;)

Apparently what the calories do to you and me is not the same as what they do for Molly.

calories barfed up rarely add to the waistline.  Theres no way she kept all that down, at least any longer than what was required to get the prize.

she also is the latest wing bowl champ.

http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/05/28/video-wing-bowl-champ-molly-schuyler-sets-a-new-record-for-steak-eating/

Schuyler, who ate 363 wings in 30 minutes to win Wing Bowl 22, traveled from her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska to Amarillo, Texas and took on the Big Texan Steak Ranch's 72-ounce steak, twice (it's free if you eat one an hour). Schuyler ate the first one in 4:58, crushing Joey Chesnut's 8:52 record, then finished the second mammoth piece of meat in 9:59.

Stopping there for dinner on our way to Yellowstone in July.  Think I'll stick with a nice 24oz T-Bone and a beer.

I've never been there that I know of. So what is the prize? If I understand it correctly you just get it for free?

Doesn't  seem like much of a prize does it ?

We once had a beer chugging contest in our college dorm.  16 teams, 4 per team (or five for gals), two heats.  (One of the two gal teams came in second in the first heat.)

How much total beer to be drunk in 10 minutes.  We did let the beer (draft in huge pickle jars) get a bit warmer than usual, which was better than ice cold.

Big mistake was not outlawing the upchuck (we didn't outlaw it, we didn't even consider it, so it was by default legal).  Fortunately there was this huge row of old casement windows right behind the drinking team tables.  As soon as the first guy blew out the window, most of the serious competitors did too.  The average human could reach full capacity in 4-5 minutes, so 2-3 upchucks was SOP in 10 minutes (me too).  No one was sick, just a finger down the throat, and cool beer came up, to be quickly replaced with fresh beer.

Though an organizer, I was also a competitor.  I did my personal best; 9 16oz mugs in 10 minutes.  I never went from stone sober to sloppy intoxicated so quickly in my life (before or since).

Of course the two heat winners had to have a drink off.  This was also not well thought out.  Having given it their all in the first go round, no one had much left in them for the drink off.  The team that won, did so by only two fingers on a pickle jar.

Oh to be young and dumb and full of cum.   ;D

cookiedough

this makes my 1 whole big bottle of root beer schnapps drank in one night on my senior high school class trip by myself seem wimpy by a lot.  I passed out on the potty late that night something she might be in need of soon afterwards.

She will make a VERY nice wife for the right guy willing to have his meat well taken care of. ???

I believe the prize is a free meal and a t shirt. You also get your name on the register of winning steak eaters.  :cooldude:

The 72oz Steak Rules

Meal consists of: Shrimp Cocktail, Baked Potato, Salad, with Roll, Butter, and of course the 72 oz. Steak

Entire meal must be completed in one hour. If any of the meal is not consumed (swallowed)...YOU LOSE!
Before the time starts, you will be allowed to cut into the steak, and take one bite. If the steak tastes good and is cooked to your satisfaction, we will start the time upon your acceptable approval. The time will not stop, and the contest is on, so make SURE before you say "yes."
Once you have started you are not allowed to stand up, leave your table, or have anyone else TOUCH the meal.
You will be disqualified if anyone assists you in cutting, preparing or eating of your meal. This is YOUR contest.
You don't have to eat the fat, but we will judge this.
Should you become ill, the contest is over... YOU LOSE! (Please use the container provided as necessary.)
You are required to pay the full amount up front; if you win we will refund 100%.
You must sit at a table that we assign.
If you do not win the steak challenge, you are welcome to take the leftovers with you.
No consumption or sharing of the leftovers is allowed in the restaurant once the contest is over.
If you fail to complete the challenge, you must pay the full $72 dollars.

Gluttony aside, that is one really cool Texas place!  Home brew, maze for the kids, and some really great chow!  The breakfast buffet is not outdone anywhere!  Then, if you need to cool off, take a dip in the Texas shaped pool and watch the V-22 Ospreys fly around next door!  We always plan to spend the night if possible...
What an amazing feat!
Go Molly!

WOW...a dollar an ounce is way cheap for a good steak.  I wonder if a 16oz ribeye is $16?

Hope everything comes out alright? She may want a bran muffin with that. Whats that hot dog eatin guys name? Wonder how she would do against him? Would be fun to watch.

The hot dog guy is Joey Chestnut, and he was the previous record holder for the Big Texan 72 oz challenge downing one of them in 8 minutes 52 seconds. She got her first one down in 4 minutes 58 seconds.

And yeah, it'll be interesting to see if she takes on Joey at the July 4th Hot Dog eating contest...

"Bran muffin" got me laughing out loud in my office just now!!!  hahahaha

That's some funny stuff right there...  Maybe because I was thinking of the consequences of eating 144 ounces of beef at one sitting.....

I know they get a lot of folks that TRY!!  :2funny: Some one mentioned their breakfast buffet-OH YEEAAAHHHHH!!  :coolsmiley: If you are in the area even if you ain't hungry-just stop in and have a look see around. They have a full menu, and its fun to watch the show when someone takes on the BIG TEXAN.
They really make a production out of it.

As far as the restaurant goes, I've been by it many MANY times over the years, but never stopped. Always assumed it was like most garish tourist traps, and the food was awful. Sounds like that might not be the case. Wish I had stopped back then, it'd all be wasted on me now since my stomach is about the size of an egg...
