This has been a complaint for years.

The bulbs are a T 3 1/4 style.

The original is around a 2 to 2.5 CP [ Candle Power]

#161 is 2.7 CP
#158 is 3.3 CP  [ what I now use]
#194 is 3.8 CP
#168 is 4.9 CP [ said to hot and blisters ]


Many have switched to LEDs. Can't help you there.

Three months ago my tach bulb burned out and I went with the warm white x5 LED's mentioned in that thread.  LOVE THEM.  Good and bright, look close to original color of incandescent.

Just changed mine out to 194 bulbs, I went with the orange version since it matches the Motosen gauges I have.    Glad I did it.

I met Chris at Inzane XII and he demonstrated his LED instrument lighting.  I was very impressed, but mostly with the turn signal indicator.  I have had the nasty habit of failing to cancel turn signals.  But no more after installing his upgrade.  I also installed his LEDs in the instrument cans.

Don't ride much at night, but I recently noticed my tach light has burned out.  The stock bulbs were always waaay to dim for my taste and I like the look of the cool white.  So, now's the chance...

Would someone make it easy for me... Is the cool white bulb in this series what I need to upgrade both speedo and tach illumination?
