I got to rent a 13 convertible vette out in Vegas and drove it to Zion and back
That is c6  sixth generation vette

90mph @ 2000rpm @ 26mpg

I could not find a 14 conv as I dont think they came out till 15 yr but I could be wrong

The pull towards one is VERY strong and may do this in the spring even though NO place to store it inside   I am in love with the new body style and may sell all the bikes to get it and ride out to
Inzane in 2 days just because .............

If you ever had a vette what was it engine, year

My brother has a bitchin Mustang, I find it a bit small inside the vette
however has loads of room for me

and no I am not really selling the Valkyrie  before y'all have a caniption

Vettes are really cool and all, but they've never really done it for me.....except for the early Vettes like the '59, '60, '61 and '62.  Now, those where cool.  Rode like a go cart over a washboard road, but sweet they still are.

It's what makes the world go around ... I love the look of the C6 ... The new ones look like someone cut the ass off a new Camero and glued it on a Vette.
I have ( 3 ) co-workers that are Vette owners with one of those having two C6-ZO6's and a 1967.

I had a '64 Coupe with 327/300hp, 4 speed, and factory air conditioning.
I also had a '65 Roadster (convertible) with the 327/365 hp, sidepipes, one piece wheels, and four speed.
Loved them and would have another in a heartbeat.

I had this and spent three years working on it with love.
'69 Stingray Roadster 350/350, 4-speed Muncie (wrong hood (L88), headers/sidepipes (Hookers), lights, and grilles).  Subsequently hand prepped and painted by a real pro.  Every piece of chrome was redipped except the wheels.

When it was finished, I was afraid to drive it anywhere it had to be parked and left out of my sight.  Even exercising care, it was a ticket magnet of the first order.  You can carry a change of underwear and not much else.  Great fun, but in the real world not much use other than fun.  And worry, and expense, and insurance.  Not a Winter car at all.  There is no way I would own one in any city unless garaged at both ends of each trip and never used as a commuter.

I waste money on bikes, cages are just utility vehicles for me.  Though I do require they have some push in the motor dept.

My first one was a 59 with a 283/4 barrel and a 3 speed tranny. The next one was a 69 roadster with a 350/350 HP and a four speed. Wish I had either or both back again. I payed 500.00 bucks for the 59 and was nearly perfect. The 69, I gave 1600.00 for it in 71, and needed a lot of body work. (cracks above the wheel wells) Went like a rocket. cooldude

I have had 6, 62, 65,66,69,73, and my present 98 C5 Red Convert. (If you want to count my Corvette 350 powered Boss Hoss 6 1/2! )

Loved them all, have had my 98 for about 10 years now. Been a good car, comfortable, has a trunk, 25MPG on road trips. 345HP motor, quick enough for me.

The new C7, except for the taillights, IMHO; is beautiful.

The new Z 06 is unbelievable, 11.1 second 1/4 mile machine, 0-60 in 3 seconds flat. If you come across one on your Valkyrie, be very afraid.

I would settle gladly for the puny stock 460hp C7. Hopefully in a few years, when they become more affordable, I'll snag one.

I want a later model C4 without the "Mercury Marine" engine.
Affordable American that survived the darkest moments in GM's history (Stempel years).

Yes, the newer vettes are superior vehicles, but they are just not my "cup-o-tea". JMHO

I also like the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat/SRT/Scat Pack, better then any new Camaro or Mustangs.

I don't know how familiar you are with the C4 but you better have small feet, the foot-well is the smallest of all the Corvette series. The high door sill also requires the most agility for ingress and egress. But most fans say the C4 has the most cockpit feeling experience once inside.

I've posted this before but can never resist a chance to talk Vette's, (I talk Valkyries on the Corvette board when a motorcycle discussion comes up too). From an economic, value, reliability, and performance standpoint the C5 is the car to buy. For the money is no object crowd the C7 is the car to own.

69 ragtop
350-350 with the M22 with factory sidepipes.
Factory Daytona yellow with a white ragtop until it got backed into by a neighbors sister. It got repainted hugger orange. I was doing a lot of traveling at the time and the side pipes had to go. Put a set of hush thrush on it.

Always thought I wanted one.  Then I sat in a C4, you're right, those things are tough to get out of.

But, the 69 Vette (convertible) has always intrigued me.    Almost bought one twice.   The first was a 69 convertible.   I was sixteen and had saved every penny I made for three years.   Was within $50 and couldn't come up with any more so, I called and asked my Dad to come take a look.   Being the father that he was, he drove the 40 miles to see what his son was trying to get into.   He liked what he saw until he saw what was under the hood.   427, 4 speed.   He shut the hood and said, I've only got one son and I'm not helping him kill himself.   Although I was extremely disappointed, I know he was right.

The second attempt was another 69 convertible, 427, 4 speed car.   A pristine car.   (Yeah, I love that car.)   Had the money in hand but, also had a family and two small children.   Doubt it'll ever happen now but, I still dream of that 69 convertible.    The new ones are way out of my price range and to be honest are way beyond my ability to work on.   If I won the lottery, I'd consider one but, they tell me you have to buy a lottery ticket to have a chance to win.    That ain't happening, I've got other things to do with my hard earned cash.

In 1975 I bought a 66 corvette: 327/365H.P. for $2K. A year later as I was starting my military career I sold that corvette for $3K. I should have stored that corvette at my parents house the 22 years I was away. Oh well, live and learn.    Smiley

67 427 Roadster, 4 spd, Red, white top and interior.  Was a monster and I loved it dearly.  Bought it used in New Port, dealer had a dozen, coupes, roadsters, even split windows, my choice 2500 bux.
A couple of 97s, coupe and roadster, both silver.  No doubt the later models were light years ahead in comfort, handling, and gas mileage.  But they lacked the machimisimo of the early versions. Am really looking hard at the new ones, if I can get around the Camaro taillights.  Corvettes are supposed to have round taillights.  Also have been tempted  to buy a 13 427 roadster if I can find the right deal.

My dad in 1957 at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin when they had their inaugural 500 mile race as an International event....out qualified everyone including Phil Hill in his Ferrari and the factory Briggs Cunningham Jaguar Team in his street going "57 Corvette...my resume is limited to a tie for 15th at being off 0.32 of a second my exact time at 135mph for 118 miles at the BIG BEND OPEN ROAD RACE held annually in Ft Stockton in my 2003 ZO6. Headers and cams are coming this year....it is the lightest corvette ever made...

wow, 14 people here own one vs. only 6 want one,  looks like some more people on here  than I thought can afford the new Valk or F6B or new Wing?

Not saying I wouldn't want one, but having a Valk and Corvette unable to drive 3-5 months of the year is not cost effective.

For 1/2 the cost,  I'll take a V8 camaro which in a pinch,  will seat 4 people and able to drive year round, well almost.  It would have enough punch for me.  Been in an 80's Vette only once in my lifetime and was scared as a passenger driver was doing 70 mph in town on a 20 mph corner thought I would have an accident in his nice car for sure.  They are too darn hard to get out of that I know even back then in my 20's, especially when drunk.   Cheesy

66 roadster. Needed electrical gremlins eliminated. Got em. 2K for the car in 1985.
Loved it dearly even though it had "the ride". Got an offer one day and regretted it since.

67 Roadster. 427. Needed valve work, bad. O/O thought it would rev to the stars. Did that.
HAAAAATED that car. Twas a good car, but Anahiem to Albuquerque was a night mare.
Where the roof met the windshield never sealed. My knees got wet and agony ensued.
I would have traded on the spot with any Caddilac or Lincoln owner.

Just as I heading off to college a '53 came in and I wanted to buy it, but, of course, didn't have any money. I tried to get my father to buy it and stick it in a parts shed forever, but, he wasn't about to lay out the about $1200 he/grandfather had tied up in it. I've been kicking myself and him since.
But I never really wanted another one until recently.  But would like one for JoAnn, but, she doesn't want one. A friend dropped by with a C6 on one fine day trying to convince her. She got in and her head was just barely sticking above the door, backed out, looked at us, grinned from ear to ear, and, stuck her foot thru the floor. She disappeared into a cloud of smoke.
Even though I was brought up in Studebaker and Ford stores, if I wanted to go fast, I relied on Chrysler. I dropped a first generation 392 Hemi in a '48 Ford coupe when I was 15 and then glued a 6:71 blower on it  a year later. Had about 7 or 8 other Hemi's since. I only mention this because there was box to check regarding Chrysler or Hemi.

A friend is a real Chevy guy, actually even more of a Corvette guy. He has one of every year except one, '59 I believe. I didn't '59s were that hard to come by, but, he must want something special.

HAD is the operative word. Mine went to a college edumacation. Shouda kept the vette. If I could buy a new wing, I would be buying a old vette.

Wrong. I ran mine 365 days a year in NEPA and Washington State. Lope that motor and with that heavy frame it would push snow with BF Goodrich Radial TA's on her. If you got stupid it would break loose in a heartbeat, but if you DROVE it, it was fine in the winter.

I just maybe thought you really did have an early model that may have had a 283, that would have made it very desirable and expensive today.
Things like that have been known to happen.
We sold a late '57 Fairlane convertible to a good customer. We tried to gently talk him out of taking the car because it came with a 352 rather than a 312 like it should have. But, we knew it would back in a few years. We then kept it.
We later took delivery of a 428 Mustang that came with an induction system no one had ever seen before. Ford quickly tracked down that car and made us give it back. We fought and argued to keep that car, but, there was not much arguing with that company.

Oss, Funny you should post this thread today. Back in '75 I traded a friend of mine my Cutlass 442 for his '69 427 vette. That vette came with all the options (or close to it) you could get. The big block, side pipes, T-tops and pop-out rear glass, a/c and power everything. A riding buddy of mine visited with me today and lo and behold......he drove up in his newly acquired white '06 vette. It only has 24k on the ODO. He had to give up riding because last year he crashed and can't remember or figure out what happened. He said he thinks he mentally zoned out for a few seconds and found himself in the hospital and doesn't remember anything. The vette is his bike.

I have had a 77,80,81,65 and for the last 15 years a 99. My 99 only has 33,000 miles on it and sits under a cover hooked up to a battery tender. I will probably never sell this car because I can't replace it being 60 and retired. For now I would rather ride my bike so the vette is insured for only a couple hundred a year as long as I don't drive it. Now that gas prices are back down I may start driving it again in the spring. Even though it would be money wasted I have always thought about having a cam and long tube headers installed.
