I just recently moved from Detroit to Alabama. I live in the Fairhope, Foley, Daphne area and was hoping to hook up with a good VRCC group here.
Does anyone have a contact for a member down here?
Thanks for your heip, Papa

Are you crazy, man?!? You are taking your life in your own hands around there. No way I would walk around that area after dark! Glad I live somewhere safe!

Papa, welcome to Alabama. We have a beach house in Bear Point (Gulf Shores/Orange Beach) and I bring my Valkyrie down quite often, sometimes trailering it down, and will ride with you anytime. CaribouHunter

Papa, be sure to tell all your friends and family in Detroit how terrible it is to live in Alabama. Please, please tell them it's much better up North than it is in the South...thanks! Dave

Hey Papa,
Greetings from Wetumpka (just north of Montgomery). I'm afraid if you're looking for a 'group' to hang with, you'll likely be disappointed... There hasn't been anything 'organized' for a couple of years now, and nothing seems to be indicating there will be. Lots of reasons for that, the primary one being there simply aren't a lot of Valks concentrated in one area.
We're scattered all around, though, and for a reason (meal, over-night ride, long weekend excursion, etc.), I'm sure several of us would be inclined to meet up. The point has been made that there are lots of things to see and explore in our state (and in the adjoining states, as well), and that is certainly true. Our area is rich in history and natural wonders, and there is much to stimulate adventurers and the curious.
If you are free to ride most of the time, let me suggest you start up some conversations on this board, perhaps even toss out an idea of your own regarding where you might like to ride or what you might want to see. You could even just pick a town and/or a restaurant and announce when you'll be there... Then, see who shows up!
Meeting up with SmokinJoe on his ride would be an outstanding way to meet some of the more colorful and interesting characters in the Southeastern US (possibly even a Yankee or two), and I assure you that you would be glad you did... I'll be there too, so we can talk more, if you'd like...
Send me a PM, and I'll send you my cell number... We can talk more, and if you do decide to join us on Saturday, we can stay in touch, and I can give you a head's up on where we might be and where we might be going...
Again, welcome to Bama... If you aren't already, very soon you'll be glad you came...

rknef777,
Ever eat at Elmer's Restaurant between Notasulga and Tallasee? It's on SR 14 at the intersection with SR 199. They have some pretty doggone good pork chops and veggies there, and I got an urge to revisit... perhaps next week after I return from SmokinJoe's Ride or the following week... You and/or your BIL wanna hook-up for a bite? Shucks, we might even lure a couple of more folks into joining us, too... Papa, are you reading this?
