I have been "f6john" for about 15 years and have never seen a reason to change. I even use f6john on all but one of the other forums I am registered. Just wondering how many have changed their VRCC screen name over the years and why.

When I first joined the VOA in early '99, before there was a VRCC, I went by UB (for Uncle Bubba, something my very young at the time niece had called me after she heard her mother jokingly refer to me as 'Bubba'). A year or so later, a group of Texans (Valhalla Six Guns) bestowed the handle 'Insecticide' upon me, but they also authorized me to use the abbreviation 'DDT', because the formal handle was a long word... I've used that exclusively ever since...

Why? Well, I do tend to kill a bunch of bugs during the course of a year... One of those Texans even speculated that I just may have killed more insects than Ortho. Anyway, it struck me that a handle given by riding friends is probably better than one made up or assumed... besides, I kind of like the newer one better anyway.

Can't say that I understand why some seem to change their handles often.

I guess that people have a right to "reinvent" themselves once in awhile if they feel the need to do so.

I remember some years ago what a disaster it was when Coca Cola decided to reinvent themselves, and if you ask me Coke hasn't been the same since.

On any motorcycle-related site I have used Gryphon Rider.

It's too bad that one of our serial name-changers seems to have faded away, Mr.V-Max aka Mr.Roadstar aka Mr.Triumph.

What were the name variations that Strong Eagle used?

I kinda hope both of these guys reappear at some point as they stirred things up a bit.

Been misunderstood on ever forum I've been on.  For some reason when I moved to KY I felt the need to change to KY Dave just so when on a ride people would have a name to the face. ( got too many strange looks when I said "I am misunderstood on the forum", but still have the AKA Misunderstood there.

While I was in the hospital, in the critical care section, I received a message from the jerk that called himself Mr. V-max and other names asking me to provide him and his friend the name of the lady who turned in front of me so they could send her a thank you note.  My loving wife hid that note from me until I was out of the hospital.

If he ever comes back to this forum one of us will be gone as soon as I recognize him.  If he ever places himself within arms reach of me it will be difficult for one of us to walk away.

I'd be okay with Strong Eagle returning.  He chose on his own to leave the last time.

Sounds familiar, Oss. Never having had a nickname, when I signed up I did so as Dave in Frisco (TX). Yoda Master shortened it in a text message, I liked the irony, and it was put to a vote at one of the chapter meeting.

I should of thought of that myself. As a kid, I was known by everybody as JC and some of my closest friends even shortened it to just J. I don't really know how it happened but when I transitioned to High School I became John almost overnight. Now even my mother calls me John, JC only comes out when she is really exasperated with me. My Dad who is gone now always called me JC. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I am enjoying everyone's stories too.

Nope. Still going by "Frye". With 52 national holidays named after us, why would I change? Not sure why it's so often misspelled though. Remember, it's spelled Fryeday!

Only once, actually and that time after being asked to provide the required valid email address and ignoring the request.  The other times he left were completely voluntary.  There may have been a second time when he attempted to conceal his identity.   Sad

I first got into BBS (Bulletin Board Systems) in the 90's, went by a handle then, BullsEye. I ran a firearms related BBS, and did a lot of online FPS (1st person shooters) games. So the handle was appropriate, and I was young then.

After getting into other forums, where I felt I would actual meet up with people I would have been posting threads with, and chatting, I would use my name. Added the last initial so if there are others with the same name, it will hopefully be unique.

I've been wiggydotcom every since joining the old board; I'm guessing it was in 2001 after my first Interstate purchase.

What most don't know is where it came from. I've been an Industrial Electrician since 1982. Used to use a solenoid style voltage tester that was nicknamed a Wiggy by it's manufacturer, Ideal Corp out of Sycamore, IL-about 30 miles from me.
Back then, everything seemed to be the Dotcom phase so I just combined the two.

Most just shorten it to wiggy, which is fine.

Real name is Russ Harris, which is what I use on Facebook.

"Asshat" & "Keyboard Hero" are currently in use.  uglystupid2
" Jig" is the southern pronunciation of the handle I've had since 1973.
It is a little misleading, since I am, at least partially, white.   Roll Eyes

Is t is kind of hard to match up VRCC screen names to FB names, but then I do not actually know many people on the board.

Might be the start of a new post if someone wants to do it.

I was called grandpaweaver since before I was a grandpa. I was a youth group teacher at our church for 3rd-5th graders for about 30 years. After my own kids went through one of the other teachers started calling me grandpa and the name just stuck so I used it.

The most fun is when 2nd generation of kids went through I could tell the kids about their mom or dad.

yep thats it,, had one blow up on many years ago,,seems they didnt have a bleed off resistor built into them and if you left them connected for over 30 seconds they would explode,, then ideal came out and big daddy DOW outlawed the square d's and we had to use ideals.. electricians today have got things way to easy with the new meters and multi tools,, my pouch had to weigh at least 40 pounds,,and today i have knee problems,,
