Same here, I wait to fill up as long as possible since gas has gone down and keeps going down. But, when gas goes up or I know it is going up passing several gas stations on the way home, I find one the cheapest for I know in only a few hours, the gas will jump 5-8 cents per gallon. Good way to save a few bucks every week or two. I'm snapping a pic when it goes down to 1.999 hopefully since is now 2.069 now and doubt it will get much cheaper than that ever again in my lifetime. I remember in the 80's being .99 cents per gallon starting to drive, but I bet most on here remember the 60's/70's when gas was well under 50 cents per gallon? There is no rhyme or reason on why EVER gas has to be over 3.00 per gallon. Look at hamburger prices though, for pete's sake, it always use to be .99 cents per lb. for a long time (give or take), but to find now a lb. of 80/20 for under 3.00 per lb., you done good!!!! Steak prices use to be where hamburger prices are now. Just crazy!!!

$1.99 on the east side of Wisconsin and with coupon it was 1.95 When I started driving it was 24.9 cents then there was a gas war and it went down 19.9 cents. You could ride all day for about a dollar.

Ok so I'm on the north side of the border, so I'll say $0.84/ litre. Price hasn't been that low in about eight years. And it's on its way towards beating that mark.
It's strangling Russia, Iran, and the Canadian oil sector, but it sure is great for Joe Average.

My sons worked at the now closed Pro Car wash on Rochester Rd in Troy MI. There are actually 2 washes, one on each side of the street. In 2008, the City of Troy decided to do major reconstruction (widening) on Rochester Rd, and Bob (Pro Car Wash's Owner) closed the wash on the northbound side of Rochester Rd because he had to move the wash building due to the widening of the road (The city foot the bill for this). He left the sign with the gas price on it in place when he closed in Jan 2009 (When Obummer was immaculated), that price was $1.89. It has taken 6 years for it to return to that price. Obummer was in office when it was over $4/gal and everyone said he had nothing to do with the price increase (yeah, right! Cut deficit in half/close Gitmo/"free" health care, yada, yada, yada. Blah, Blah, Blah), so how can he possibly have anything to do with the price normalization. And who made all the profit those 6 years? The towelheads, that's who.

Dreamaker, Thanks for the post. Link got through fine. I thought Nebr. had a high gas tax. But it didn't make the top 10. So, I looked up a list of all the states gas taxes. Nebraska is in the lower half of all the states. But, it turns out it is 2 cents to 9 cents higher than each of its neighboring states. I don't think we are getting our money's worth from it. After 10 yrs of Republican rule we're left with $1,000,000,000 (that's a billion dollars) worth of inadequate bridges. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I've got serious questions about what passes for leadership in nearly every facet of society. And I have somewhere between little and no confidence in leaders of either political party.

Now is the time to cut the strings with OPEC and begin to become self sufficient by supporting domestic exploration and production. With the success of shale oil production, along with traditional drilling on land and offshore, the U.S. is now the world's leading exporter of petroleum. To alleviate that the Saudis flooded the market and that is why we now see the plummeting price of a barrel of oil. Time to say screw the Saudis and let the "Prince" keep his sweet crude.

I see the state of IL is #9 of the list of top 10 and WI is not even up there at all for gas taxes. This is puzzling to me since how come gas right now in IL in my region ONLY 30 miles south of me living in southern WI is ONLY 1.859 now vs. us living in WI is now 2.059?? 20 cents cheaper in IL so close to me is totally puzzling since IL use to have higher gas prices for years when the gas was way up there in the 3-4 dollar range. Any ideas??? I do know that say in Clinton IA, 1 hour south, the gas is much cheaper even than northern IL is right now, but in years past, IL was always higher than WI for gas prices usually not much though.

These are the newest I come up with. Notice NY is now a nickel higher than than anyone. And these don't include some extra local taxes.
