ragnar cut?

so i decided to look inside my exhaust today, mostly out of curiosity, and found that apparently the previous owner did the ragnar cut.  piggies are gone and i do believe i see holes drilled deeper into the exhaust.  what I'm now most curious about is whether or not i need to change anything on the bike in the carbs or elsewhere because of this mod.  i don't know if anything else was changed since it was a bank repo and had been there for i wanna say over 4 years and definitely not driven since 2007 ( until i got ahold of it end of last year ).

First answer....no.  You don't need to do anything.

Second answer....I don't think your exhaust has the Ragnar cut.  Sounds more like the piggies have been cut and the baffles have been punched/drilled.

The Ragnar Cut is a total removal of the three rear baffles.  The end result is three gaping big holes at the rear of the exhaust can.

Can you take a picture and post it here?

Here's some info on the Ragnar Cut......

that would explain the drone at high speed in a full face.  im assuming that even with that i don't need to change anything?  buy a hydrolocked bike and you find all sort of surprises  :tickedoff:

My bike has the Ragnar Cut also.

The drone is the exhaust note resonating inside the exhaust can/tips.  That's why Honda put the piggies on there....to get the exhaust out to the back of the tips so it wouldn't resonate in there on it's way out.

I didn't have to do any re-jetting or fiddle with the carbs.

Any helmet that covers your ears seems to amplify the drone effect.

I fixed my drone with a set of silencers and a set of Grumpy's tips.

It has a very nice low rumble now, not loud at all, sounds a little mean with a nice growl, and best of all no drone.

I've got a bike with the Ragner cut and can confirm the following:
- the drone will bother you with a full helmet, use s half helmet
- rex Marine has inserts that will cure this but I hated the sound of the bike with them in. I even tried drilling the centers out but still didn't like the sound.
- i extended the exhaust tailpipe and installed Grumpy's tips, this still leaves a great sound but it eliminates the drone at highway speeds (don't know if this was cured by Grumpy's tips choking the pipe some or just by putting a longer pipe tip on and extending the noise farther back ).
