first of all you should be thankful that Harley builds millions of bikes so that you are able to make a living at what you like to do...seems to me if it weren't for Harley you would be out of work...also out of all the bikes you work on, which ones are the easiest to get parts for? if you have 10 Hondas for every thousand Harleys of course you are going to be working on more Harleys... and if you dont think Hondas break down go read Warrens GOTF post...

Isn't the ratio of H-D to all other Cruisers like 8:1 ?

If so, your numbers are within limits of normal.

I know several folks who own late model H-Ds and they are happy and garage floors are clean.  There are a couple models that I really like and would/have considered, buuut, the overall size of the bikes are just too small for me.  Sitting in them made me feel like I was sitting on a bicycle.  

About the oil spot.  We use to prank H-D riders at a show I used to go to several years back.  We'd pour just a little cola on the ground under a bike and guys would go nuts trying to figure out what was wrong.

i wonder if that was the bike built in tyler texas about 1978 or so.. if so, yea it was done up right..

Isn't the ratio of H-D to all other Cruisers like 8:1 ?

If so, your numbers are within limits of normal.

next time use pancake syrup but since the chain oilers are no longer put it up near the front of the engine and put a little between the jugs,,,it will drive them crazy and they will get so pissed,, then when they find out what it is they will all have a good laff... go ahead and ask me how i know this...

I think I will do the pancake syrup joke to my HD crazy neighbor as well as the HD crazy co-worker at work, especially the guy at work I don't like since I know I can get away with that easier in the parking lot at work than my HD neighbor having his HD park right outside his house in front of his living room window.  The HD guy at work and me have gotten into a few heated arguments at work enough so I almost got him fired a few times and right now he is on the chopping block for being an arrogant A-hole.  He should have been fired years ago, but his new boss is seeing his arrogant ways as well. He has since the past few months been very quiet and nearly non-visible, just the way I like it. 

Don't you dare say one bad thing about HD to them, they will defend HD literally to their death.  If it isn't HD, it ain't worth riding is their attitude. 

My HD neighbor told me he spent around 5 grand in repairs at HD shop on the engine and blowing a belt as well early on in it's life.  I made the mistake of telling someone that we both know that his HD needed 5K in repairs soon afterwards.  My HD nut neighbor marched on over and said don't I dare tell anyone my HD broke down needing repairs.  I told him then next time don't tell me.  He's probably got easily 18-20K in upgrades/repairs/initial used purchase price on his 10K valued 2003 Ultra Classic.  He may think he has a 15K bike now, but highly doubt he will get anywhere close to that in today's market where HD's are everywhere used for sale.  He did tell me just a few years ago when he gets a tad older (say over 60 soon), he will sell his HD ultra classic and buy either a can am spyder or goldwing (trike probably). 

Back on topic, I try not to make my all black I/S look like a Harley (has iron horse tank bib and pouch along with leather straps dangling from the leather handgrips is all), but once in the parking lot two HD dudes came on over and staired at my bike until they saw the Honda logo and quietly backed away.  Had a good laugh on that one from a distance walking back to my bike.  You would think just the sheer girth of the chrome engine would give it away without having to get up close and wondering if HD came out with a new engine?

I put a  load of rice under a buddies Yammie. When he came out of the rest room he asked: "whats this"? I told him his bike was sick, threw up.
Any bike leaks especially the older ones. I don't care what brand they are! I looked at a brand new Indian Chief last year at the dealer and there was a puddle of oil under it. I asked the salesman what was up? He said the bike needed to be ridden. I said OK, how bout fixed, it leaks. Never been on the road.

Not that I give two good craps what anyone rides or what they think of what I ride I had a patient on Monday with a broken ankle that had hit a dog on his Harley (that is what he put in his description of accident line) he noticed my white stripe on my face from my helmet strap and ask what I rode and I said I had a Valkyrie he chuckled and said a Honda? I said yup I have two of them and sold my Street glide when I bought my second Valk. He ask why and I said a couple reasons  first reason was it was under powered and second it wasn't big enough for me and the wife riding two up and he said you know Harley makes bigger bikes don't you I said yeah an Ultra is built on the same frame a the street glide they just threw a tour pack on and changed a bit of suspension he looked puzzled,I told him I had ridden an Ultra that a friend has and still not enough room and still under powered. I ask if his bike was hurt bad and he said totaled and he wouldn't be able to talk his wife into " letting him have another"

I even sat on a goldwing (1520 and 1832cc) and it felt cramped in quarters for 2 people more so than my Valk I/S.  I know HD's are more crowded since my neighbors Ultra Classic seating surfaces are much closer together, but we are heavier than those 2, especially him being 150lbs. ringing wet at 5'6" and me only 5'10" but 285lbs. 

The goldwing also sits you it seems like more upfront and upwards closer to the plastics even more so than the new F6B which felt had more wiggle room for sure when I sat on it at a dealer.   Maybe it is just me though??

Last time I looked this was a Honda Valkyrie board, says right at the top "Valkyrie Riders Cruiser Club"...You guys that use to ride valks but have moved on, ask if we'll still ride with you, we say sure we don't care what you ride...but when someone jokes around about Harley's you take it personally and then start attacking us because we don't support American workers etc, last time I looked my valks are made in USA, or that our bikes break down too....all machinery breaks down sooner then later.....you want to stay friends with the folks you met here, do so....but don't come here telling us we're not good americans become we don't support a company that makes Harley's, that probably has half of its parts made somewhere else....try joining a Harley riding club on valkyrie and it wouldn't matter how many of your friends were Harley riders they wouldn't let you in...

The sportster is pretty nice, fresh paint and some custom chrome work. The other day he was telling me about a ride that was coming up and said it was quite a cruise. Then he said that he didn't know how the sportsters make it without stopping for gas. I tried going onto HD forum for craps and giggles.  Yah, they blackball you once you say you ride a Honda (Valkyrie in this case) and is just as good as a HD.  MY IP address got banned from their site, oh well.

Passion is passion...HD or Honda...we bought it, we defend it....that is what we do...

The tough part is not letting rebuttles get under your skin. As many have said, face to face we are all different then that person behind a keyboard....
