Depends on what you are looking for in a ride. A crotch rocket on steroids or a touring bike with plenty of power and comfort.

You probably still have a good idea in your mind of what the I/S gave you. I would then go ride a new Valk and also an F6B. Then decide what your needs are based on available money to spend, the importance to you of having bags, windshield, fairing, etc.
As much as I love my 99 Interstate, I can see someday where more and more parts will be obsolete. The new ones are coming down in price to where an F6B or Valk might be an attractive choice. Good luck on your decision!

HI BIG HEAD. I HAD MY VALK INTERSTATE FROM NEW. WE USED TO RIDE 2 UP AND HAVE BEEN TO A COUPLE OF INZANE MEETS IN 2003 & 2004. I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE VALK AND LOVED IT. MY WIFE KEPT AT ME TO EITHER QUIT RIDING OR GET A SMALLER BIKE. I CAVED IN. THEQUESTION IS, SHOULD I GET A NEW VALKYRIE OR LOOK FOR A USED OLDER STYLE?

THE QUESTION IS, SHOULD I GET A NEW VALKYRIE OR LOOK FOR A USED OLDER STYLE? IMO, if you still ride two-up, the 'wing or F6B would be better options than a new Valkrie. If you don't ride two-up, I guess another "The Question" is why haven't you ridden a new Valkyrie yet? They are a blast to ride.

I have a new Valkyrie. I thought it was UNCOMFORTABLE. Until I waged war on it, now I think it is awesome... http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,75086.0.htmlThe whole handlebar mess = a whole lot of trouble and time (but it was fun, too) The Corbin seat and bags = a whole lot of $ You can probably buy an already comfortable good Interstate for not much... I would have regretted it BIG TIME if I had sold my old Valkyrie when I got the new one... -Mike "I'd be fine with just the new one now, though..."

My question would be why did she want you to get a smaller bike ? Are you small people? Was the bike too much for you to handle? New Valk IMHO would Probably be an AWESOME 1 up ride but not so much for travel with 2 up and loaded with 2 weeks worth of clothes. ie no room for it. No bags ,trunk or fairing. Yes I know before you all jump on the Fat Guy you can add bags and a trunk but I wouldn't ride across the street with that (no offense) trunk that was shown earlier in the thread. Just sayin.

I also sold my Interstate and bought a new 2013 FJR, I put 7000 miles on it before I traded it in on 2015 F6B. The FJR was a very fast and fun bike to ride but was a pain to ride, love the traction control.
The FJR is the same size of bike as the Interstate, less cc, but riding it you wouldn't know it. The FJR is a taller bike, I was always on my tip toes at stops. Is that what your wife is taking about, Getting a smaller bike ?
I chose the F6B because I need a place to put my lunch, I ride it to work most of the time. I chose the deluxe model because of the nice options it has, I also waited and got cruise control. I had the Vista cruise on my Interstate and it worked fine. Something else I got is self canceling turn signals, which are pretty darn interesting. I can also sit and be flat footed at stops as I was sitting on my Interstate.
The bags on the F6B are narrow, I can't get my Lazer carbon modular helmet in there. I could put my modular helmet in the side bags on the FJR. And theres plenty of room on the Interstate, of course. Hahaha. .
If side bags are not an issue, then get a new Valkyrie. The corbin bags totally make the new Valkyrie. I don't think you can get a modular helmet in them either though.
A decent set of bags should have been an oem option for the new Valkyrie when they first came out, I may have bought one instead of the FJR.
I don't think Honda could have done as great a job with side bags as Corbin did. Their bags look awesome.
So whichever bike you choose. It will be a great choice. You just can't go wrong, either way. .
Good luck, but most of all, have fun.

A friend of mine just traded in his 14 FJR on a new 13 F6B. When he had his FJR , my impressions were that he always seemed to be trying to convince himself about how much he liked it. He had a problem with always being on his toes and not flat footing the bike too. His previous bike was a CBR1000R. After he traded the FJR, he said his hands were always falling asleep and his back and wrists would hurt. He was getting to the point he just didn't enjoy riding anymore. Since he bought the F6B, he has been smiles andcan't stop talking about how much he loves the new bike.

Hi All Thanks for all the response. Now I have to test ride the new 1800. As for the FJR it is a fast bike but I get a sore back and wrists after an hour ride. Bike is top heavy compared to the 1500 I.S. A short test on the FJR. didn't give me a problem. However I am on tip toes at stops. With the Valkyrie I was flat footed and a lot more comfortable. As they say act in haste and regret at leisure. As for my wife, she broke her leg a week ago and is now recovering from surgery. My first priority is holding her hand. Spud in Ontario, Canada.( no polar bear sightings this spring )

I think it's been said here, what are your needs? Short rides, touring, solo, 2 up? I guess I'm a little confused as to why the bride either wanted you to quit riding or get a new smaller scoot? Has to be a reason there for sure. Even tough the Valk is old it offers one of the best rides out there, STILL. We can offer advise but each of our needs and wants will differ from yours so the opinions will also differ. I think the anser is in my questions about how you will be riding?

go ride both and you will know ASAP which one is for you. For me, the F6B was comfier and more ergo friendly all around plus had all the add ons most want: side bags, cruise and heated grips (if deluxe), passenger backrest a must if riding 2-up, self cancelling turn signals, more comfier and roomier stock factory seating position and handlebar placement (ergos), plus easy factory accessories such as taller windshield and rear flat luggage rack behind passenger seat. Can also add upfront foot pegs pretty easily. Now as far as which one is faster, who cares, both are super fast enough for anyone. I'd dare say they would for sure give the FJR1300 a run for it's money in 1/4 mile drag strip with the right rider. Still think our classic valks look 3x's better than either one though, but they are growing on me for sure.
