Justice Anthony M. Kennedy your majority opinion stated nothing of religion or God. Shame on you ignoring the values that our country was founded on. Additionally you ignored the majority status. The Constitution of the United States begins with "We the People of the United States", your vote does not reflect mine and many others. The Constitution "done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven" states nothing of same sex marriage nor the right of marriage defined by our creator. Who are you in your small insignificant span of time to decide on changing The Constitution of the United states which has been in place for over 200 years? Shame on you Justice Kennedy.

This matter was decided on opinions, not beliefs. And you know what they say about opinions...

On a more practical level, if the 14th amendment guarantees that a license granted in one state must be honored in all, does that mean my concealed handgun license issued in The Republic of Texas must be honored in all 50 states and territories as well?

A February–March 2015 Wall Street Journal poll found that 59% of Americans favor same-sex marriage, so not a minority. Other less conservative sources have polls that have a higher percentage.

It doesn't affect me, so I'm fine with it. Not sure why some are so angry.

I don't care who or what you want to marry.  You are free to do what you want.  I am free to not like it.

Like watching hot dogs being made, I just don't want to see it.

I know it's there, I don't care that it's there, but for the love of God, please stop shoving it in my face.

I'm not angry about it, and won't lose sleep over it.  There are many bigger fish to fry (can you say Islamist Terrorism?).

Still, to say the decision won't have any affect on the rest of us may not be accurate.  Looks like the first impact may be increased stress on an already overburdened Social Security system.

Totally with Josh on this by the ruling the Justices officially changed the definition of marriage for 3 percent of the population. I would also be suspect of the poles because they can reflect anything in how the questions are asked. So why did San Fran with one judge overturn the vote of the people. Not the same country it used to be.

The implications are ominous.  The 'progressives' are now well on their way to rid our country of OUR history using the excuse of hatred.  They are presently wanting the Rebel flag to go which will be followed by the statues of the famous Southern generals and the president of the Confederate states.  They, essentially wan to eliminate the South's history and that is WRONG!!!!

"Don't let a crisis go to waste." the POTUS's philosophy is alive and well.

Now, with the Supreme Court's  decision to overturn the marriage definition they, the progressives, will, sooner or later,(probably sooner) CREATE a crisis by going after a Christian minister who refuses to perform a same sex marriage, The Feds will then deny that church of its tax exempt status. pickets will form outside of that church, cries of bigotry against Christians (already started) and it will steamroll.

You will then see Christian churches of all denominations unite.

You will see civil disobedience on the part of Christians like never before seen, Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, and many others,  and if you say that won't affect you, you will be underestimating the result. I, for one, will stand for my Faith!  I will say no more on this post.

Regardless of how anyone of us feels on the subject, or how SCOTUS rules on the subject....the ultimate decision will be determinded on Judgment Day when God has the final say.

Again, I don't care what they do....right or wrong, they will have to answer to him one day regardless how anyone feels about it.

Actually, NRA just filed a suite to that effect using the language in the SCOTUS ruling as precedence.

The US Constitution is not interpreted by popularity polls.

What the majority did is not in the Constitution.

Chief Justice John Roberts, along with Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas dissented, and all wrote separate dissents.

Alito wrote, “Today’s decision usurps the constitutional right of the people to decide whether to keep or alter the traditional understanding of marriage.”

Roberts said gay marriage supporters should celebrate, but don’t celebrate the Constitution.

“If you are among the many Americans—of whatever sexual orientation—who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today’s decision. Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal. Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it,” Roberts wrote.

Thomas wrote, “Aside from undermining the political processes that protect our liberty, the majority’s decision threatens the religious liberty our Nation has long sought to protect.”

In dissent, Chief Justice Roberts said the majority opinion was “an act of will, not legal judgment.”

“The court invalidates the marriage laws of more than half the states and orders the transformation of a social institution that has formed the basis of human society for millennia, for the Kalahari Bushmen and the Han Chinese, the Carthaginians and the Aztecs,” he wrote. “Just who do we think we are?”

The freedom from religion crowd will use this like a weapon to harass people of faith in any way possible.
They've been doing for years(Hobby Lobby, bakers photographers etc) and now they have teeth.
Their goal is to silence any dissent. There is  no way to tolerate this, when tolerance by their definition means full acceptance and applause.

If they start trying to force ministers to perform marriages against their will, simple solution - Find a gay couple to demand a Muslim Imam perform their marriage. That conundrum should cause the statist's collective heads to explode.

the Peoples of S & G didn't think so either. The Shemitah is 9.13.15 prepare yourselves and your unbelief.
Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed Genesis 19
4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men (Angles of the Lord) who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”

9 “Get out of our way,” they replied. “This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.

10 But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. 11 Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.

12 The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, 13 because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it.”

14 So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry[a] his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.

15 With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”

16 When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. 17 As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”

18 But Lot said to them, “No, my lords, please! 19 Your[c] servant has found favor in your[d] eyes, and you[e] have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die. 20 Look, here is a town near enough to run to, and it is small. Let me flee to it—it is very small, isn’t it? Then my life will be spared.”

21 He said to him, “Very well, I will grant this request too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of. 22 But flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it.” (That is why the town was called Zoar.[f])

23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land. 26 But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

27 Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the Lord. 28 He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.

29 So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.

They "interpret" law. There are plenty that I have thought they "interpreted" wrong, but I think it's still the best system of law and don't know how we can do any better.

There seems to be some significant disagreement.  Four of the Supreme Court justices see it completely differently that do you.  One of them (the Chief Justice) went so far as to say the decision was about social opinion and had no basis in the Constitution.

So now that there is no real definition of marriage I guess pedophiles and transgenders will be allowed to marry and adopt kids also and they will receive the same rights and benefits as all other couples. What does this do to the tax role also since they will receive the tax deduction and then divorce and then remarry other partners. Even in this day of social acceptance the marriage length is not good. Lets not forget our corporate sponsors of this like, Apple and Google are among this list of other companies,

Here Are The 379 Companies Urging The Supreme Court To Support Same-Sex Marriage

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/05/marriage-equality-amicus_n_6808260.html

They are not making a personal stand but a corporate stand and financial stand. Maybe we should too.

Apple's logo is directly insulting all Christians

I am tired of being called stupid by companies that support issues I don't want and have logo that says take a bite of the apple so we can be informed as to how to think, like the garden of Eden. That logo is actually making fun of all those who call themselves Christians and then supporting the very policies that go against our beliefs. WE support them and they support and fight and change things for us against our desires so maybe its about time that we start to take this whole thing really seriously. I have never liked a corporation telling me how things should be and then fighting against my desires to bring about something I did not want all the time having a logo that mocks my belief. Maybe if we don't like what happened we should take another lesson from those that from 1970 to today have changed your lives. They showed us how its done maybe its about time we push back. Do you think that the Supreme court was not swayed by the opinion of those in political and business top positions? The highest court that was not supposed to be swayed and have term positions for life but why did they make a law and even say they will be changing the definition of marriage if they do.

I really don't give a rap if Gays want to get married by civil means. God will judge.

What I do give a rap about is that now the Law of the Land will try to punish me and force me to change my Belief. They will do it by harassment, legal means, so called 'public opinion' etc. They will use the full force of the government to force a change.

So I'm not forcing anyone to adopt my beliefs BUT the government now will be doing it to me and fellow Christians. They are saying that I'm not entitled to my Belief. This is NOT Freedom of Religion as noted but freedom FROM religion, a blatant misjudgement of the government!  And NO, I won't 'suck it up"

Obviously it's not your ox that's being gored.

Its no big mystery, we should not be taken by surprise.  The Word of God is very clear what happens when a person, persons or say a nation rejects God.  And my friends, flame me or don't on this but as a nation the United States is far down the path of rejecting God.  Immorality follows and this is just a natural consequence in the process of rejecting God.  So its no surprise to me, you must be a fool to have not seen this coming for years.  I don't see it reversing, it will only get worse until, if or whenever we as a nation repent, turn from sin and return to making God and his Laws first, reject God and this is naturally what you get plain and simple.

Chris, my personal religious philosophy is a little different.  In Matthew 10, vs 14 Jesus said, "If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town."   I will testify about my Faith only if some one asks.

It's not evangelism but it sure is easier to live with.  I ignore the common phrase "Shoving religion down our throats"

In this age I have shaken the dust from my feet.

Yesterday I shared a post on facebook. "I support the biblical definition of Marriage". Didn't comment on it just shared it.  I was called a hater by one of my facebook "friends" members. How is that for messed up?  You cant have a opinion unless it agrees with theirs. And if you don't support their "lifestyle" you are a intolerant bigot. We are supposed to be tolerant of the gay lifestyle unless you don't like it then you are supposed to shut up and live with it. Sorry I am entitled to my opinion under the first amendment. Don't like it? Then you shut up.....

One of the dissenting judges noted that the arguments used for same sex marriage could be equally applied to justify polygamy.  I imagine that there will be a lot of unintended consequences not because of the subject matter but because of the legal precedence.

Yesterday I shared a post on facebook. "I support the biblical definition of Marriage". Didn't comment on it just shared it.  I was called a hater by one of my own family members.

My daughter threatened to disown me if I didn't remove my comment about the ruling.  Sad.
