Apparently, due to the natural changes in solar activity, the earth will begin a mini ice age cycle starting in about 15 years.  This is not to be confused with the current global warming period which is completely man made!  uglystupid2

I think scientists are trying to find an excuse as to why global warming isn't going as their simulations predicted...

I tend to quit reading as soon as I see the words "Computer Model".    Until the program written is proved it isn't worth a darn.  The models that project major warming due to Man causes have not been proven.   They show a lot more warming than was is happening, even after NOAA has gone adjusted the past temps to show more warming.

From what I have read recently we do have less sun activity in the last several years.  That's a fact.  Whether or not we are going into another mini ice age like what hit in the past, don't know.  I know in several years when I have to put on more blankets.

Well us northern boys will just have to pump out more CO2 to offset the ice age.  There's an answer for everything...

It's all climate change. If the sun is out or behind clouds, climate change. Cold or hot, climate change. Fewest number of hurricanes, climate change. Gore is right, the weather changes so it is climate change. 2funny 2funny 2funny

Not to be confused with global warming, but according to scientists, it's BEACUSE of global warming!!   uglystupid2

Will Harper, Princeton University physicist, former Director of Energy Research at the Department of Energy
What I’d do with the IPCC report is to put it in the trash can because that’s all it’s worth….carbon dioxide was an insignificant component of the earth’s atmosphere and that, rather than being the purveyor of doom it is currently viewed as today, it is needed in order for plants to grow….’Mars’ atmosphere is about 95 percent CO2 and has no global warming.

  Dennis Hollars, Astrophysicist
The lesson to the world here is, when it comes to science; never blindly accept an explanation from a politician or scientists who have turned political for their own private gain. Taxing carbon will have absolutely no beneficial effect on our climate, will hurt the economies of the world, and will be harmful to the production of food because less carbon dioxide means reduced plant growth.

Bob Ashworth, chemical engineer, 16 U.S. patents, has written 55 technical papers, American Geophysical Union, authored a 2008 technical analysis of global warming
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

Fred W. Decker, professor of Meteorology-Oregon State University
The new green left (environmentalist) propaganda reminds me of the old red left (communist) propaganda. The dirty word is now carbon rather than capitalism. The game is simply to intrude and control everything.

Vincent U. Muirhead, professor emeritus of aerospace engineering, researched gas dynamics, University of Kansas
I personally cannot in good faith continue to contribute to a process [IPCC process] that I view as both being motivated by pre-conceived agendas and being scientifically unsound.

  Chris Landsea, former IPCC scientist
As a geologist, I love Earth observations, but it is ridiculous to tie this objective to a ‘consensus’ that humans are causing global warming when human experience, geologic data and history, and current cooling can argue otherwise. ‘Consensus,’ as many have said, merely represents the absence of definitive science. You know as well as I, the ‘global warming scare’ is being used as a political tool to increase government control over American lives, incomes and decision making.

Jack Schmitt, geology scientist and U.S. astronaut
Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.

Kiminori Itoh, member of IPCC process, award-winning environmental physical chemist
…Consensus in science is an oxymoron. From Galileo to Einstein, one scientist with proof is more convincing than thousands of other scientists who believe something to be true. And I don’t even grant that there is a consensus among scientists; it’s just that the press only promotes the global warming alarmists and ignores or minimizes those of us who are skeptical. To many of us, there is no convincing evidence that carbon dioxide produced by humans has any influence on the Earth’s climate.

Mark L. Campbell, professor of chemistry at the U.S. Naval Academy
Our understanding on the complexities of our climate system, the Earth itself and even the sun are still quite limited. Scaring people into submission is not the answer to get people to change their environmental ways…if Earth was suffering under an accelerated greenhouse effect caused by human produced addition of CO2, the troposphere should heat up faster than the surface of the planet, but data collected from satellites and weather balloons do not support this fundamental presumption even though we are seeing higher CO2. We ought to see near lockstep temperature increments along with higher CO2 concentration over time, especially over the last several years. But we’re not.

Mike MiConnell, hydrologist/geologist, professional Earth scientist U.S. Forest Service
I believed [global warming theory]. It made sense….” He then conducted extensive climate research and wrote a detailed analysis announcing that he had reversed his views…. “Did the math and realized that you just can’t get to global warming with CO2.

William F. McClenney, professional geologist and former Certified Environmental Auditor, former global warming proponent
Not only is it false that human activity has any significant effect on global warming or the weather in general, but for the record, global warming is over. The fear-mongering hysteria about human-caused global warming is completely unjustified and is totally counterproductive to our Nation’s essential needs and security.

The day time highs here in Idaho have dropped 10 degrees in the past week! By my calculations, that means the daytime highs will be in the -10 degree range by mid October, and down to -100 by January! Whatever shall we do!  2funny

I have no firm basis for being on either side of this debate though I would err on the side of caution rather then dismiss collected data and scientific observations as a crackpot theory. However, I simply cannot understand why people site their local weather conditions as proof it's a bogus theory.  It's called GLOBAL warming for a reason.  It has nothing to do with your local or regional weather.  Weather conditions  over the millinnia have had a profound impact on human life. Mass migrations, starvation and social upheaval result.  We are not immune to nature even today.

I like history, real history. And the history of weather is included. Weather is cyclic, always has been and probably always will be.
The problem I see with all this new [ last 30-40 years] global warming/climate change crap is all the fraud that has been found in the data. Most seeming to be political and money driven.

Another thing I don't understand is how one determines that the collected data is a hoax.  Is it because reports on Fox News or the Drudge Report claim it is? Or have you actually examined the original data to reach that conclusion?  In our ignorance, who are we to believe?  I have neither the intelligence or background to actually know beyond certainty what is the truth.  So, I support the wise option to consider the evidence as interpreted by the majority scientific community.  Perhaps it's like the old saying "better to believe in God and be wrong than not believe and be wrong". Everyone knows weather patterns change, even globally, often with disastrous results like the sudden end of the great Egyptian empire, the forced migration of Neanderthals southward where they met the tidal wave of modern humans emerging from Africa.  Just seems unwise to ignore the possibility of dire consequences in a world so inhospitable that it won't supply necessities of life. Seems like something to avoid if we can.

I'm really not wanting to get a debate going here. My initial response was intended to be satire only. But my feelings (yes, feelings) are that people believe what they want to believe. Very little logic or common sense plays into much of anything these days. The media stream that one chooses to follow will most likely dictate that persons views one way or the other politically, scientifically, etc. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to realize that the carbon footprint mankind produces even holds a candle to that left by the numerous volcanoes on this planet that belch forward megatons on a daily basis. On the other hand, I think that it is mankinds responsibility to continue to reduce emissions and waste. Do I see us doing that? Well, when I consider the amount of waste produced by the common household today as compared to 50 years ago when I was a kid, I'd have to say no. We used to "recycle" everything. Cloth diapers, glass bottles, hand-me-down clothes, shoes etc. You could put what we threw out on a weekly basis in a single trash can (30 gallons I think). We had our electronics repaired when they broke, ran our homes off 50 AMP service. Us kids rode bicycles everywhere or walked. That includes to extra-curricular activities for school such as ball games and dances. We didn't have cell-phones and we didn't worry about needing them.
But I digress. From all I've read and learned about the global warming theory, I don't believe it for one moment. It's another game devised by political giants as a way of making big money for themselves. I am not a doomsdayist, and I am happy when I see grassroots companies and individuals improving the way things are done by reducing waste and dependency on oil based energy. I applaud all who take the time to recycle and conserve. But don't think for one moment that I subscribe the the philosophy that the end of the earth will come by man's hands. Personally, I think it's egotistical for humankind to think they have that much of an impact on things.
I've had my say. I won't be responding further on this.

It's win-win-win for the atmospheric soothsayers (scientists):

If it doesn't get warmer, as the global warming theories predict, then it's because of the mini ice age.
If it does get warmer then it's proof of their theories that even the mini ice age can't stop global warming.
If it doesn't get warmer-or-colder then it's because both are happening and they are offsetting one another.

Genius!  cooldude

But wait! That's not all! We are all forewarned that after the mini ice age wains global warming will again reign unchecked and we'll all roast or drown. That is, if we don't pay our taxes to combat it!  uglystupid2

I don't believe in warming or cooling beyond normal or perhaps abnormal (natural) cycles.

But here's my take.  Anyone who proposes or votes for tax increases for any purpose should be stood against a wall and shot.  I don't care how important or beneficial the claimed use of the added tax money is.  If they need more money, they have to cut spending elsewhere (or give their lobbyist money over to the G).

This has been a public service announcement.

First we're melting, now we're freezing.  I wish they'd make up their minds already and so I know which earth catastrophy to prepare for.  Very different outfits required, you know!   Grin

The effects in that report cannot cause an ice age, mini or not:http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2015/07/14/global_cooling_no_were_not_headed_for_a_mini_ice_age.html

Typical global-warming denier hyperbole, by scientists not in the field of climate science.

Just like Kennedy Jr. flying all over the US, in HIS PRIVATE JET, telling crowds they need to drive more fuel efficient cars!  Hypocrite.

We have a Sierra Club big wig near home, that is talking all the time about NOT cutting trees to build houses.  Build smaller homes, use alternative materials.  BUT, he lives in a 5000 sq ft + house, all built of wood!  Hypocrite.

Personally I would be more concerned with POLLUTION and poisons going into the drinking water and the oceans (where the fishies live) than any hypothetical global warming theory

You go to India people still crap in the street in the streams and rivers

Large parts of Africa people dont have clean water and if you look where our brother Strider is no sewage treatment and stuff just is everywhere

This IMHO is the real crime of global warming proponents, they dont really give a crap
about health of people, just being "In" and advancing their agenda

One volcano makes more of everything than all the humankind from sulfur to co2 to
dust in the air

Ding ding ding.

It's simple isn't it when an open mind is at work.

Leonardo DeCaprio saying he's willing to fly anywhere to talk about global warming.

The president flying to Florida to talk about global warming.

Others living in A/C homes, with fridges, TV's etc. Driving cars and riding motorbikes whilst spouting global warming .

Hypocrites one and all.

Not much mention of the Suns affect on planet Earth.

Do the global warming spouters think that man has more effect than the monster heat source in the sky?

Once again not much thought going on.

Laughable at the willingness to suck up the Al Gore bollocks.
