I don't know why a republican would actually want to be president right now. The current administration has run things so far into the ground, becoming president, especially a couple of years from now, the liberals will all put them blame on you for the giveaways they created! Foreign policy, healthcare, the national debt, etc. will probably all come to a head in the next term. I wouldn't want to deal with it. I wouldn't know where to begin. It's really sad!

After about 15 minutes I dubbed it the "Free crap Giveaway Debate" and went to bed.
Tax the 1%ers at a 90% rate and they might be able to pay for 10% of the giveaway.  Then I guess the will have to come after their disappearing middleclass to pay for the rest of the stuff.  That won't go over very well.  You can't give everything to the 47% and expect the rest of us to keep paying for it. 
Ayn Rand was right in the precept that somewhere along the line the 1% will just quit and then who the hell do they expect to pay.  BTW, quitting may well just mean moving your assets away from the US to a more capital friendly country.  The great John Templeton found the Bahamas to be very tax friendly.  One of the co-founder of Facebook to his Billions to Taiwan.  Keep pushing, more will follow suit.

I was thinking the exact same thing.  If a Republican wins, and the chit hits the fan on so many fronts due to the poor decisions in the past, compounded by the insanity of the last 7 years (and there's 1 more years to do more harm), he/she can't say they "inherited" anything because they jammed the last guy on that one every time he used it.  Aaaaand, if a Democrat wins, who are they gonna put the blame on?

But nobody seems to worry about these multi-nationals that hide their TRILLIONS of $$$$ overseas, avoiding their tax obligations. It's not like it's a secret, it's in the news everyday. It's just easier to get all hot and bothered over the individuals. If the government could just capture 10% of money being held overseas, we might actually be able to fix some roads and bridges. Maybe even help pay for some deserving kids to go to school and be productive members of society. Just think of the possibilities.

Indeed.  Let us take, for example, Wal-Mart: a "wildly profitable" corporation that historically has paid its workers so little that said workers qualify for taxpayer-paid Welfare while they worked.  Or, let us take ExxonMobil and GE: "wildly profitable" corporations that, thanks to shady tax filings, pay no taxes, all while benefiting from our taxpayer-paid infrastructures and civil & strategic defense of (their) properties.

The problem is that too many people don't have a single clue to history, why things actually got to where they are today.  When we gave them, corporations, an inch in the 19th and early-20th centuries, and they took a mile and then some.  And they're doing it all over again, "Citizens United".
