I think this one issue most will agree on... especially when you consider his primary reason for canning Keystone - for the appearance of taking environmental issues seriously.   uglystupid2

I guess Buffett buying the railroad that will carry one hell of a lot of the Canadian oil
didn't have anything to do with his decision.   O'bummer will probably be rewarded with a seat on the board of BH when he gets the boot from the WH.  It will only take me a couple of seconds to sell my shares when that happens.

It seems to me that the pipeline will now go straight to the west coast of Canada. Ships will then take all that crude to China for refining in old technology equipment with no regard for the climate and then burned in equipment/vehicles,etc with no concern for the environment.
To my thinking obama just increased his carbon footprint on this earth. Some legacy.

my issue with the keystone was the fact that the canadian oil ministry was always intent on selling the refined product overseas... i think that obummer is a POS but i actually appreciate this decision and i spent 8 years in the natural gas industry in nodak... (i was there long before the boom)
the  canadian oil would have taken up refining capacity and gone overseas, the canadians were hoping to create a bidding war for the finished product... F 'em!

When oil prices go back up, just remember who stopped leasing in the gulf, who stopped leAsing off alaska, who has drastically limited leasing on fed lands, who killed keystone, who has fought fraccing, and who is currently trying to implement new, EPA rules designed to limit drilling on private lands.

Democrats.

In spite of obamas drastic limits on new drilling, we have expanded oil production on private and state lands. Thr EPA is now trying to stop that.

When prices go back up, because supplies tighten, be sure to remember WHO limited those supplies.

It's not like he didn't tell us what his goals were...

The Obama (pbuh) appointed Secretary of Energy was quoted as saying in 2008:

“Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.”

And their actions are really quite brilliant. Since the price of gasoline is a trailing indicator, they can sabotage the industry now while enjoying low gasoline prices, and then when the chickens of high gasoline prices come home to roost, there will be a different occupant in the White House that can take the blame.

I seem to recall all the hoopla saying that gas would be $10/gallon if Obama was elected.  In actuality it's been closer to 2 bucks a gallon.  Drilling at an all time high, making the USA the second largest producer of oil in the world, yet I still hear whining.  I also heard Obama was coming for your guns.  How many of you had yours confiscated?   Yeah that's what I thought. Republicans should rename their party The Chicken Little Party. 2funny

Maybe, maybe not. But his points are still valid. Plenty on the Right said the price of oil would go thru the roof and he would take our weapons. Neither is even close to true. You may not like the messenger but he is correct.

Drilling is up? What a crock of crapola that is. All one has to do is take a look at the rig numbers & you don't have to look any further than the Gulf of Mexico. Rigs stacked and idle, drill ships anchored and idle. The latest rig count is 157 less than this time a year ago. Thousands of workers sitting home laid off. And that's just rig hands. Let's not even bring the ancillary services into the mix.

Oil is at its low per barrel price because OPEC controls the supply. They have ramped up production to near historic level. Short and simple. Economics 101. Supply/Demand. And this country, with the dish rag in office, prefers to suck the Arab tit so POTUS can claim he has something to do with oil/gas prices. Nothing could be further from the truth.

When the Macondo well exploded in 2010 POTUS immediately slammed a moratorium on offshore drilling while at the same time sending $8 billion to Brazil to bolster their drilling and exploration industry. Not coincidentally, George Soros was a major stockholder in the Brazlian National Oil Company, PetroBras.

As far as gun confiscation is concerned. It's not that this man doesn't want confiscation. He surely does. If not, he would never have mentioned his lies about "common sense gun control" in the same breath with Australia as his model for such. The were no "common sense gun laws" in Australia. It was government mandated confiscation.

So, please spare me the lies and equivocations about this dish rag.

Think you can handle the truth?

I farm in ND. A pipeline was put thru a field of mine a few years ago. The land is as productive today as ever. Except for the signs, you cannot tell it is there.

The TRUTH is, not only is the land NOT "destroyed", it is not harmed at all.

But, I am sure the truth means nothing to you.

I exlained earlier why oil production is up, but of course you totally ignore it, and continue obamas lie.

Troll on.

A little bit of reality for you.  US oil production is at an all time high.  That is why OPEC isn't ramping down production to raise prices, because they are afraid of losing market share.

http://fortune.com/2015/02/11/domestic-oil-production-record/

It may be hard for you to believe, but oil spills do major damage, and oil spills happen frequently.  You are lucky no spill has happened on your land, but that does not mean spills do not happen.  Here is some data:

http://incidentnews.noaa.gov/

Do you even realize that you have bought oil tycoon B.S. hook line and sinker?  Why do you want tar sand oil from another country running through our country, only to be sold overseas?  Why?  Tell me it's about jobs... You should read this first:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/energysource/2013/05/10/pipe-dreams-how-many-jobs-will-be-created-by-keystone-xl/

and if a 300 car oil train derails and catches fire and KILLS a hundred thousand people you will be safe in your california home still
entrenched in the belief that you saved a snail darter or fish.

These oil trains are freakin a clear and present DANGER and the tanker cars are NOT safe NOT properly inspected and the railroads aint gonna be in no hurry to make em safe either till an american city (not a canadian one) burns with terrific loss of life and property

I would rather see a dozen alaska pipelines for oil than have these oil trains running thru the crowded urban and suburban and pristine rural areas where cars can and do hit trains all the damn time.  and for me that goes for natural gas as well

Id have to disagree. Trains haul far worse chemicals then oil. You have 2 tankers caring 2 separate liquids is fine but if those chemicals mix then you have a problem. We have HAZMAT books (ones that read what the placard is) on the trucks. A few yrs ago while a train was going thru town a medic looked up what was being hauled. The chemicals if mixed would have whipped out everything for 2 miles + down wind.
As for the tankers, they do get inspected. Id have to ask my dad how often. Hes been on the railroad since the mid 70's.

Yes but you can't really have pipelines for each different chemical. If we can keep the oil in a pipe that seems the way to go. As a separate issue I've wondered why the Canadians don't want to run it to Vancouver ? Is it the expense of going over the Rockies ? Seems like they'd want to keep the jobs for themselves.

There is risk in everything. What is the safest? Pipelines.

Daddieo can sit there, safe, and be self rightous, but, if he buys gas, if he heats his home, if he consumes products, they are transported by using energy. Somehow, that energy must be produced. So, what is the safest? Pipelines.

Daddieo, an earnest question for you. You state pipelines are not safe. we should not build keystone for safety reasons. I therfore assume your preference would be to shut down all pipelines, as most of them are not as safe as keystone.

What is your safer solution to moving the many millions of barrels of various liquid products flowing now and in the future?

We NEED those various chemicals, or our society will cease to exist. What do you propose? That could be implemented and used, not pie in the sky.
