Admins,

I realize I'm still relatively new here, but I'd just like to make a suggestion, if I may.

Would it be possible to create another subforum called "The Lounge" or something?  Most of the other forums I've been on have them. It would be for all the non-riding related topics, political threads, etc. Not that I don't read the occasional political thread, but it would be nice if they weren't in the same subforum (General) as helmet discussions, trip reports, and other riding related topics that aren't Tech related.

Those who like to argue...err...discuss politics or their new pet cat or whatever would have a place for it and it wouldn't bury the motorcycle/riding related threads.

Just a thought.

Agree with Baldo cooldude
(You are new here!)
No offense intended Brother,
this has been discussed almost as much as
"politics or their new pet cat".
For whatever it's worth, I too, would still like to see an "off topic"
board of some sort, (I ride & come here to get away from all that crap) but it aint likely to happen.
Good luck, though.....

Whatever. Was just a suggestion. An off-topic subforum isn't an unheard of thing. Didn't think it would be "one of those" topics that is never spoken of.

Carry on then.

I agree with ya wholeheartedly Beardo, but it just ain't gonna happen here. Everybody seems to think that board activity would suffer just because everything wouldn't be posted in the "General Board".
I belong to 2 other motorcycle forums that have a "Lounge" or "Off Topic" board and it doesn't seem to hinder activity at all. The posts in the "General Boards" are for general motorcycle conversation and the "Off Topic" sections are for the "bull crap" not related to motorcycling. I look in on the off topic sections maybe once a month. The rest of my time is spent on the bikes and subjects concerning bikes. There's plenty of activity in all areas, it's just a way to separate the cream from the turds.

What you need to do is throw in some discussions of Canadian politics. We Americans are so self absorbed we would be stunned into silence.  Grin This is the only forum I've ever been on. I think you will just have to manually sift thru it. I hope it doesn't dissuade you from coming around. But prepare yourself, THESE NEXT 3 MONTHS ARE GOING TO BE FULL OF B. S.

I say lets have another section not only  for political posts but for the 4 or 5 liberals we have here. That way everyone could be happy. Its only a few that get everyone riled up since most here share the same view point.

Political posts could be posted but they would not stay on top because everyone would look with their own view point agree and move on most of the time without posting.

This way political posts would soon fall off quicker with no bicker.  Grin Grin

Of course there is always self control, like dont click on the link or dont respond. Wow,  now that is a concept!

If you start to "sub-forum" things, someone has to moderate it. To ensure the laws and rules are obeyed.
See no reason to subject anyone to such a thankless and time consuming job without compensation of some kind.

Sure, it would be neat to have multiple upon multiple sub forums. One for ride reports, neighborhood watch stories, one for pet dogs, one for pet cats, fish, chickens, Harleys, etc. but someone has to moderate them.

Or you could just have the members decide what post they want to open, read and respond to and do what adults are supposed to do. Put your feet up and have a drink.
