I'm fine with it here as I just don't click and read what doesn't interest me. I'm not the owner of this board so I play by their rules and adapt. They don't have to please anyone but themselves.

My Daddy always told me that I needed to learn to keep my mouth shut.
Damn he was smart.  I am still a slow learner I guess.

If I was still on two, you wouldn't own the I/S anymore, what a nice ride.

To a point I agree with you, it dose get crazed so times.  But I see a positive side, frustrated bikers get to vent, with the support from the group.  And to get opinions and different prospective's so we can TRY and be on the same page.  If there is a thread that doesn't meet your standard, don't click on it.

I agree wholeheartedly. My bike, and this board as an extension, help me to escape the misery of the real world. The flood of political topics here are often times both frustrating and depressing. People take extreme positions on these things, and after awhile I start to think they're idiots, and I know that's probably not the case, nor do I want to have that opinion about anyone I'd rather be sharing information and ideas with about our favorite rides.

There's a good reason why many other forums either have a designated section for political discussion separate from the on-topic areas or do t allow it at all. I sure wish this one would do one or the other.

I don't recall anyone saying we have to only talk about political opinions, and can't talk about you bikes or your rides.  If that is what you enjoy talking about, then talk about it, and the group will respond.  If you choose not to respond to peoples opinions, then don't click on them.

Keep in mind that when you use capitals you are shouting.

This is a general board at present. Discussions about other than motorcycles related, is not prohibited.

Yes, it indeed would be nice to have a separate board for other than riding.

I don't know the answer but please do not downgrade the ones on this board who are concerned about our country and 'blow off steam' among this, our  family.

I'm also guilty of the above.  Don't open the post if you don't like it.  I will say that, yes, motorcycle posts scroll off the page too soon,  That is a problem.  I'll also say that if we had only motorcycle posts, this forum would get skinny real soon, what with the different motorcycles taking the place of Valkyries, especially during the winter.

Just my opinion, don't need to use capitals to reply.

I tend to agree.   Although I don't expect this idea to go anywhere, I'm suggesting that a separate section be created for Motorcycle Only discussions.   General should stay the way it is.   I'd be surprised if Motorcycles Only section would grow to be bigger than General but, I'm all for giving it a shot.

I personally like the forum just the way it is, I read the topics that interest me and avoid the ones that don't.    I love motorcycling but, there's more to my life than just motorcycles.   I like the ability to discuss those interests here.    I haven't attended one motorcycle event where something other than motorcycles wasn't discussed.   This board is no different.

And here you said this political threads are a waste, I just learned something new, that capitols means you are shouting.  Sorry I am not a millennial or a texter, just old school, trying to make sense of it all.
Back to the point, the logic here says, I don't have the self control not to click on a thread, I don't want to read and be forced to add to these threads. Is this what we are saying, because on this board there is a whole bunch of stuff that don't interest me so I don't click to it, or just click in and click out! It's not rocket science.

All I can say if that's what you want to read, find those threads and comment or at least bump them to keep them on top of the page.   It's really not that hard..................   2funny

Right now, 9 of the top 11 posts are MC.
I've been digging up posts from pages 2 - 3 and resurrecting them to the top.
If everyone who rides keeps the MC posts at the top, al lot of the BULLSHIT posts will drop out of sight.

I love and respect everyone here.  Especially the OP and his wonderful co-pilot.

My Valkyrie was purchased in August of 2003.  There were no more available on the east coast for this last production year and had to come from a warehouse in Chicago.  The salesman and owner of the dealership told me I was very lucky to get the bike.

With that being said, my Valkyrie, one of the last purchased, is now 13+ years old.  It has taken on different appearances over the years, been to many different gathering and states, improved my wrenching skills, and I've shown off the nickel trick about 50 times.

I'm sorry, I just don't have anything more to say about it.  I go on 1 or 2 organized rides a year, and unfortunately, due to the rest of my life right now, I am riding less and splitting that decrease in mileage over 2 bikes and one is not a Valkyrie.  I can't even get out of work for all 3 days of my brother from another mother's Hudson Valley Fall ride, and would do anything for this guy and his family.

Why do we want to or need to shut down conversation?  Maybe some folks here have other outlets with which to discuss politics or plumbing.  I don't.  I work for a European company who's history during WWII was, um, not too good, so I discuss politics there as minimal as possible.  This entire political CYCLE, beginning with the election of Obama has made discussing politics in my home and family, because of all the media's racial hype and lies, sometimes difficult.  So I come here.  Why is this a bad thing?  Because some don't like it?

Yes it's a motorcycle board, but PEOPLE type out the posts, not the motorcycles.  People have varied interests.  Obviously there are a lot of people with this same interest in common.  Why should these folks with at least 2 things in common not be able to discuss what interests them?  Maybe it goes too far at times, but it's better than going to the local car/bike shows and being ignored by the HD riders.  (bike related now).

Exactly. I agree. If you like the motorcycle posts keep bumping them or reply to them and they'll stay.  They could actually force the political posts off page 1.  Maybe what the forum needs is a show of appreciation to those that post about the Valkyrie and rides.  Comment on them or bump them.  Don't just read them!

I've heard that quoted to Lincoln.

This made me curious, so I poked around a bit, seems this is one of those axioms that's frequently attributed. The ACTUAL wording above appears to be a paraphrasing of an actual Gandhi quote:

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.”

That has been brought up many times....

Hey Baldo what happened we agree on something  2funny 2funny

You know there are quite a few here that ride on a regular basis me included, but what would you say to keep things going? Something like I started my bike today and rode to work there was a small rock in the middle of the road. The bike sounded a bit different when starting and will keep it in the mind next time starting it cold.  Yea Im sure we all have alot to say.

Sure thing...the only problem my bike is still down from the fuel gush from 5 weeks ago.

I did push it from the spot in front of the garage to a spot beside the garage.....so I've got that going for me, which is nice....

A couple of weeks back I posted a photo of my Valk on top of a mountain, I only got 4 comments on the photos.

I had intended to do a full ride report on my vacation but the lack of interest put me off as it takes a lot of time and effort to post multiple pictures on here.

We will return to regularly scheduled programing after the election.

I'll bet if you look in the archives, the board gets more and more political postings the closer the Presidential election gets. Which only makes sense since this is the only election that spans the Federation. Everything else is State and local and we don't share a common connection or interest in those then.

So sit back and enjoy the show, just visit the tech board, be selective in the posts you open so you don't read the political stuff.

You do realize you don't have to read the political stuff and you can post your own non-political, motorcycle and Valkyrie related stuff?
