I've discovered that I don't get as good mileage as I used to but, I'll carry that torch as long as I've got gas in my tank. With the exception of a few youngsters like Gavin, Joe and Monica, I can't think of too many youngsters although, I'm sure there are some.

Doesn't it make a difference how old we were when when bought this monster ? I don't think there are many here now that bought them new.
I saw my first Valk in Lake Placid in the fall of '97 and had one before the snow melted in the spring.

Jerry, I'd also find it interesting to see how many have triked their Valk, especially those in the more "mature" brackets. I'm still comfortable on two wheels and loving it, when that changes....so will the bike's geometry.

I guess that's the reason many trike out their Valkyries but to be honest, I just think they are cool and would love to have one. Thought I did have one but, Lil D won't give it back.

Bought a new 2001 standard when I was 37. It got rear ended in 2006 while parked. Fixed it back up and traded it even for a 2006 XR 650l dual sport in 2007. Dual sport got old after a couple months and I searched for a Valkyrie and found my 1999 standard in 2010 up in Tennessee. I am 52 now and will never get rid of this one.

I'm 55 and have had a Jade Lady now for 13 years. My son would remind me often that I was not allowed to sell her as he was laying claim to it. Since I refuse to give her up, I am restoring a '98 Standard that was orphaned in the weather for way too many years. He is taking up the torch at 27.

Prostate cancer 10 yrs under control, pagets desease, irritable bowl. Cancer left arm removed for now, bad hip and a little arthritis. Haven't found a reason to quite yet.

Purchased the best bike I've ever owned since I started riding at 18, when I was 45 .... and she's been my one and only ride for the past 15 years. I guess that puts me in the highest % group (just barely, by a week )

Only difference is.....I don't do some of the "brilliant"(?) stuff I used to do as a youngster. As for the poll, looks like the normalized Bell curve is developing.

Bought my 02 new and rode at least 12000 miles a year for 13 years. I usually hit the ton once a week while riding the interstate highway. Darn if I didn't have the killer accident that made me quite riding at 5mph. I had so much pain that I had to stop riding at 72 years old. I always thought I would ride into my 80s.

Great post Sheffjs, seems like the big 55 has got you thinking I'll be 48 in a few days and I feel the big 50 right on top of me , either way I have no plans on passing the Valk torch anytime soon.

i bought my first one, a 1998 STD in 2013, then when i saw and test road the 2014, had to have one..... sold the 1998 to a friend to compliment his Harley Road King, now when my son was in for a visit around the 4th of July, and he used to ride a Honda 1000 crouch rocket, he sat on the Valk and said OH YAH, i could ride this one, I said, well dont hold your breath I plan on riding many more years. Im 66 now and just added another ride to the garage.... a 1975 Goldwing 1000 with only 18,300 miles on it, thats less than my Valk has on it. so now the next time he comes for a visit, i can ride the Goldwing and he can tryout the Valk, he will probably want to take it home with him, but no chance........keeping the Valkyrie for long trips or for those days when i want to GO FAST.... going to ride the Goldwing as my every day bike cause its such a classic.... safe rides to all.

bought my '98 as a left over in 2000. I was 41. Just returned to riding a year and a half before on a Bandit 1200 after a 10 yr hiatus, work, divorce, the usual suspects. traded the Bandit in for the Valkyrie, and never looked back.

Bought my Valk new in 1996 at age 67. Installed a sidecar about 6 years ago. Rode it about two years ,sold it, bought a Vstrom , rode it about two years, quit riding on my 87th birthday. I'm 88 now and probably have skewed the age data. Then again, maybe not since I no longer ride.

Bought my 2000 Interstate in 2007 with 24,250 miles on it.
Currently it has 176,371 and I am 75 this Friday.
When I bought it I told the wife it was my last one and I wanted it to last. So far it is doing fantastic and keeping me young in the process.
Hope to see all of you in Billings next June.

I'm 58 (and many days feeling every minute of it). Been riding for about 30 years, though I had actually ridden my first street bike back in the late 70s. My regular riding buddy had an '02 Valk from when it was new. He just sold it earlier this year for a XDiavel. I just grabbed my first Valk a couple of months ago and I'm loving it. I had looked at grabbing a used first-gen a few times over the years, but it seemed that every time I looked the only ones available were Interstates, which I really didn't want. The time was just right this time, so here we are.

Chase Kinter is a Valkyrie rider/owner. I believe he's nineteen or twenty these days.

I have owned several other bikes since then but keep going back to my first true love in a bike. Bought the IS to keep her company in the garage in 2012.(only had 8k miles on her and she was already a teenager then)
