There is something sitting in the back of my head that doesn’t seem to add up for me.  I worked for a Global company at their Headquarters as a technician.  One thing I learned is CEO’s and C?O’s love two things, they love their power and they love their money. I learned that through experience.
Well Donald is going to be our President, so as an American, it is my obligation to support him. BUT ! Something bothers me, “and correct me if I am wrong”, he is installing these CEO’s and maybe C?O's in key possessions, in our government.  Now these guys are accustom to receiving large paychecks and big bonuses, with super perks on the side. Now CEO’s going into the Gov. seems like they are going many steps backwards.  Now!  Maybe one may be super patriot and really love this country, but as many as they have mentioned on TV NEWS doesn’t seem logical, the power gain I can see, but they still love their money.  Something don’t feel right, or am I missing something?

You're missing something.  If greed is your concern, look at the Clinton (nonprofit) Foundation.

President Elect Trump says he'll forego the $400,000 salary, and instead take a buck a year.   "I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year".

Rex Tillerman earned 24.3 million in 2016.  He will earn $203,700 annually as Secretary of State.

They obviously know what the salary is before they sign up.

So, if they agree to take the job then it must mean that they really want it.

Most of them have more than "ENOUGH" money already, I'm fairly certain that they won't starve.

It could be that they like the idea of doing something different for awhile.

And maybe they would like to make a difference for a change.

The motives of people entering government service is always a crap shoot.
In this case, with the CEO weighted cabinet, yes, they receive large paychecks and bonuses. On the other hand, they are also independently wealthy and have the resources to break from business and serve the Country. As wealthy CEOs, they are, by definition, successful and talented in their field.
Being independently wealthy, they are insulated from financial and political pressures. Not immune to the pressures, just insulated.

It is tough to bribe people who already have it all.

These tend to be the folk who are in it for the challenge, not so much the money but the money is nice.

Putting less successful people, or blatant political appointments, in these positions would be putting greater pressure on them regarding corruption as they would not be naturally insulated from it. At times you do find extremely talented people in this group and when you do you appoint them to the appropriate job.

Right now, Trump is in a target rich environment for Cabinet selections.

I like the idea of wildly successful people in these positions.

Trump has been talking about what is wrong for a couple decades now.
Did he start to sprout some grand plan back then to screw the masses...I am going to choose to believe not.  Look at the social and economic damage wrought by Obama in such a short time...the only way is up at this point.

I agree. I am doing my best not to fall into this also. But there are plenty of reasons for people to be fearful and leery. As far as the CEO thing, that doesn't concern me. It's actually admirable for someone to give up millions to serve their country. As to that chart about world leaders pay. Anyone who believes Putin is only taking a hundred and some odd thousand a year is sadly mistaken.

As far as any of these billionaires giving up a salary in the 100,000's, I wouldn't give it as much weight as some of you are. That money is couch change to these guys.

And frankly, I'm more than a bit uncomfortable having this particular group in their nominated positions. I mean, when was the last time a CEO held one of the highest position s in our government? How did that turn out?

What could possibly go wrong?

Turned out better than the Robert Macnamara whiz kid gang that brought us Vietnam.  He was CEO of Ford before taking Sec. of State 61-69.
Now George Schultz Sec. State 82-89 was the CEO of Bechtel ( largest American construction company at that time - helped me finance my College )  Under his watch and diplomacy the Evil Empire came to it Knees and Eastern Europe became free again.

It can work and if anyone can make it work it will be the Trumpster.

Well, for decades we have put poor men into office and watched them come out rich,
I guess we should all sit back and see what happens when we put rich men into office.

Hopefully, they are doing it for the good of the country. Narcissism has something to do with it I'm sure, but that is ok with me as long as they take care of business and don't sell us down the river, or push us off the cliff like the last four years.

You guys come up with some interesting scenario. But a couple things, first, when people generally  come up with a working solution, it is generally based on people honesty and going by the numbers. The other, when people approach the ladder to power, they are on a completely different plateau then us working people. For us it is money, to live and pay our bills, so it is money first, to them it is power and control first, and money later. So I certainly hope you are right, about wanting to serve the country better. Or has New World Order Won?

President Barack Obama: While his salary is $400,000, his income in 2011 was about $790,000, ...
This includes the royalties from his books... Undecided

BTW, who pays the Gas for the POTUS limo? ???

According to the article, if you add Barak's and Michelle's net worths together you do get $24,000,000. Right on the nose.
Still pretty good for a couple liberal community organizing lawyers.

According to the article, his financial statements estimate a net worth of between 2-7 million. A different organization called "Celebrity Net Worth" has them each at about 12 million. How these figures were arrived at or who CNW is I don't know. Isn't it ironic though that we have all the financial records for them to look at. And we still haven't even seen Trumps returns ?

Two points:

The required financial records, I believe do not include tax returns.

Secondly, release of financial records is not required until a person actually becomes an elected government official.

I was reading up on the requirement of financial statements.  Among what was said is that they're generally vague enough to still leave a lot of questions.  I'm pretty sure Donald Trump is wealthy.  I'm pretty sure Barrack Obama is wealthy.  I'm pretty sure Hillary and Bill Clinton are wealthy.

I just want to know, with a salary that paid him $3,200,000, how did Obama amass a net worth of over 24,000,000????
It appears your numbers are in error.

I'm pretty sure you are right on all three counts. You are also correct about the tax returns. It's not required by law. I don't know if they will ever be put out for the public to see. But they probably should be.

When and if he releases them, I wonder if they'll be the real documents or ones that were fabricated.
