Ride Safe, Be Kind

Earth

« on: February 04, 2017, 11:22:23 AM »

Tomorrow, people all over the country will scream at their TVs while a bunch of men in tights chase a turd shaped ball around a field, with short breaks for piling on top of each other, ass smacking and little victory dances.  I was into cars and girls in high school and I still am, so I really don't get the sportsball mania.

Being fortunate enough to own a motorcycle and wise enough to live where it doesn't snow, I have other plans for the day.

Ride Safe,

Alien

You might want to make a doctors appointment if your turds are football shaped.  Grin I love football, but I have heard some don't. You and Serk are about the only to admit it though.  Smiley

I'm planning on loading my kids, spousal unit, father in law, father in law's wife, father in law's wife's daughter and father in law's wife's daughter's boyfriend up into cars and making the 50 mile trek to my land outside of Dallas for some trigger therapy.

I was not terribly interested in sportsball previously, but now that they've decided to get all political and "make a statement" I'm even less interested in watching a bunch of multi-million dollar corporations with jock straps run around in tights.

(Standard disclaimer, if that's the kind of thing you enjoy, more power to ya'. Wink )

I'll admit it too.  I'm only into the shooting sports, i don't give a rats patootie about the Super Bowl, especially if it's going to involve politics at half time.  The TV will be OFF!!!

The only time that I enjoyed sports was in high school where they played basketball form the heart without these fantastic salaries of all the players today.

I'm with you on this political stuff. I wouldn't watch it if it was the only thing on tv. I wouldn't go to a game even if I had free tickets, could care less. Imo they are overpaid jobless jerks. Lots of people will disagree with me but then I also voted for Trump.

Im with serk and Alien on this, dont give 2 craps about any football game and hate when Tom Brady is on TV crying about something. I'm pretty sure he is a closet queer.  Evil  I don't have any team I follow or care to follow. Like Wayne I'm more into the shooting sports. I really don't want Tom Brady to win. He makes me want to puke.

I am also with you guys, I would rather watch paint dry than watch football, now they are slowly sliding soccer into our backyards. I think it is fine if you enjoy it, but if it becomes obsessive compulsive entertainment, it think you may have a problem.  Also the only thing that concerns me is,TV is just drowning in Sports.  Enjoying it is one thing, swimming in it is another. Just not my cut of tea!

Geez, the NFL has issues with concussions. I don't think they are going to allow shooting.

Though may be teams could have shooters on the sidelines with shotguns to shoot the balls out of the sky.

I can hear the color commentary now......

"There's the snap...the kick.....AND IT'S OBLITERATED!!!!"  "Dave Johnson, 1st round pick from the Trap shooting team at Iowa and Olympic Trap shooting gold medalist, NAILS IT at 57 yards!"

Yes Bob, and according to the new rules that is 3 points off the Packer's scoreboard!"

From the beginning of the season to the end, it's always "The Big Game". Are there any regular or unimportant football games? Being 5' 3" at age 16 left me out of any sports. I was always into racing of all kinds. Still am. Raced a sports car, speedboat and a bicycle. Did well in the Tiger and loved every minute of it. Football??? Don't really get it.

I had to ask someone at work who was playing.  I still don't care.  If it's what you like to do, go for it.  I have just never been interested in sports.

I don't care about ball sports either, except for the one played with the very small dimpled ball with Titleist stamped on it.

I didn't know who was playing until somewhat recently.

Tomorrow a dozen will be at the house to watch the game and I will watch the one football game I usually watch each year. Its just a time for another party with friends.

I'll join this minority, I couldn't give three rats assess or craps about it, and I live about 20 minutes from the patriots playground. I've got wood to split and if weather is bad I'll watch Gunsmoke or Andy Griffith.....Agree with comment on overpaid jerks, although I believe if one took a knee during the Anthem the coach would have his ass......

Damnation

I watch the game, but I am a NY Giants fan from when they played down the block in Yankee Stadium eons ago,  I'll admit I am watching to see Brady get knocked out.

Cant believe I am saying I hope the Falcons win   uglystupid2

Got my hebrew national specials (the fat franks) and crescent rolls to make pigs in blankets (yeah I know its a weird name and no pork)  and will watch with Bonnie tomorrow night.  Think she likes the Patriots having gone to UMass in Amhurst for college
but my money says she will be reading on her kindle during the game while I yell at the TV.

Hard to believe nobody else posted they will be watching the game

Well, let me be the first. I get out of work tomorrow at 230, meeting some friends at a local sports bar at around 6. I'm going to take a little power snooze in the van (I get up for work at 1am) and mosey in around 430 to score some good seats. I've got the next day off, it'll be a good catch up day.....

Finally we have a true American post ! I was beginning to think we were infiltrated by pinko commies (joke). I too hope the Falcons can pull it off. For two reasons. Always like the underdog (unless my Cowboys are in it). And two is I have a kind of roundabout bet with our friend Hook. Since the Cowboys were eliminated he can't lose, but I may have to figure a way to get him a case of that Portugese beer in a couple days.  Smiley

It seems from the tone of this post that the ones not watching the game are intellectually superior to the ones watching. The less you care, the more superior you are.  cooldude

Further, because of this, us watchers are a little embarrassed to admit to watching.  crazy2

A few years back I couldn't remember if I was supposed to watch the game or the commercials.

Actually not sure what the point is anymore.

Game
Commercials
Half time sex/strip show
Political pulpit

Thank God for the cheerleaders. At least they give us hope.

Bob Griese  Shocked No disrespect to him, but that teams dominance was all about Jim Kick, Larry Csonka, Mercury Morris, and the Killer Bees. Bob Griese was and is a class act, but I wouldn't even consider him in the top 20 all time.

Couldn't agree more. My wife will probably be watching, I won't. As a matter of fact I've never watched an entire football (or baseball or basketball, or soccer) game that I didn't have a child or family member playing in.

At a nephew's wedding years ago I was introduced to a (does referee sound right?) who had at least 5 Superbowl rings, I think 6 or 7. I tried to seem suitably impressed but it really meant nothing to me. Although I assume it meant he made a lot of money.  Grin

I like the shooting sports, I like hunting, I like fishing and motorcycle sports but I get bored quickly watching even those, let alone team sports.

Due to Kaepernick's crap, I watched only one FB game this year, I'm on strike against the NFL for allowing his BS to get into the game.   Never missed watching a SB (That's fifty years of SBs) and I can't say I will or won't watch this one.   Kind of depends on what else is going on.   That is how much Kaepernick ticked me off.   I'll also admit to wanting to see the commercials, they are normally pretty good but, they will get replayed post SB game so, it is, what it is.

Still chasing a short in my trailer tail lights, gotta figure that out.   Yes, I have my priorities.   If I find that short, I'll probably watch the game, if not............................

As an Englishman, I just don't get American football, 10 seconds of action followed by lots of standing around and high fives, followed by commercials! My step daughter (who is 100%american) tried to convince me to watch the super bowl last year "come on dad, you'll enjoy it, its great fun.."

She was asleep within 15 minutes....

I'll stick to watching a real sport. Rugby.
