Any hints about Inzane 2018 ?  :)

Serk

Only one I've teased out so far is that it'll be a different direction for me from the 2017 location...  I'm waiting patiently (Or as patiently as I know how) for further hints or details myself, ready to start planning routes...

Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

I believe I also told you it was less miles for you than last year.  Which I actually found surprising.

So... My route, via roads, was 1341 miles to the Red Lion in Billings...

Popping that in my tool and drawing a circle of how far can I go in 1341 miles from my house comes up with something like this:

It's still HUGE, but... We have a Serkle! I repeat, we HAVE a Serkle!

With NO other information, I'm thinking Tennessee/Kentucky, maybe south east Tennessee/North Carolina (neighborhood of Deal's Gap maybe?)

TOTAL WAG on my part...

(I know, I know, ya'll are still working on narrowing the place down yourselves, but I know that you know that I've now been thrown a bone, albeit a tiny one, and I've gotta run with it and see what I can figure out from what I know...)

It's not a raw circle of what's 1341 miles from my house, it's more complex than that. It calculates how far one can go in 1341 miles from my house USING PUBLIC ROADS... Thus the very funny looking "circle" that's generated... (Can't get real far into the Gulf of Mexico using public roads no matter how much of the good stuff you've had...)

Ok, hold on there... Remember, it'll be in a different direction for you.  It will be in the USA.  I will not be in the Gulf (or any other body of water).

Right, couldn't tell it "Only draw a map away from Montana" so just went with it as is, but that knowledge is why in the verbiage I was throwing out Kentucky/Tennessee/North Carolina as possibilities...

Other than that, I eagerly await my next hint so I can narrow it down further... :)

Back to the roots ? Zanesville, OH.  :coolsmiley:

Recommend Branson, MO. for consideration.  Central US location, great riding area, many hotel/camping options, with plenty of food and entertainment  choices.

Actually, to be fair, we haven't nailed the exact location yet.  We are looking at 2 locations; both meet the hints given; neither have been mentioned in this thread.

But are both at least within the rather amorphous Serkle at least? (Which appears to be most of the continental US anyway, but c'est la vie... At least that'd confirm we're not putting water wings on our Valks and swimming to Europe. ;) )

You can have it all...  Paris, Tennessee

The more central, the better....at least for me. I'd still go for Wisconsin, Many Soda, Michigan, but would be more difficult timewise. Tenn. & Kentucky would be good, lets me visit a lot of old friends going and coming.

Quote from: Serk on Tue 08, Aug 2017, 22:03:49

Well, that rules out Mexico City.   :'(

Actually the Serkle can be significantly reduced.  About a third can be taken away because it would be in the general direction o0f Montana (I know, not the exact direction of Montana but we'll give the Serk that extra.).  Another portion may be ruled out because it will be held within the continental United States.

I'll bet Serk can present a more limited possible area.

Willow

Obviously, the location has not yet been selected, but all the possibilities being pursued are within the circle.

However there are two high probabilities that if one of them panned out and Serk were to choose the wrong road, even by just a few miles, the original hint given him would be voided.

Doesn't that depend upon where you call home?  For the riders in Alberta it has been 14 East, 15 East, 16 East, and 17 East.  For the members in Florida it has been 14 West, 15 West, 16 West and 17 West.  For Serk it's been North, North, North, and North.

Oh, good; that eliminates southern Manitoba.  I haven't ridden all the roads in southern Manitoba, but I've ridden/driven enough to know they're aren't many (if any) likely to be described as "twisty".  There have also been times (e.g. 1997) when southern Manitoba could be described as a body of water.

Actually, from Alberta, all InZanes have been between ESE and SSE.

I'm gonna get really precise and guess that InZane XVIII will be in a state that has contact with either (or both of) the Mississippi or Ohio Rivers.

LOL!  You should make it a point to ride across the Mackinac bridge whether it will or will not get you closer to InZane.  Take a day to spend on the island as well.

In saying that it's closer, I am considering only the fastest route (per google maps).  I cannot be held accountable for a more circuitous path.
