Don't threaten me with a good time

Greeneville, TN

« on: August 24, 2017, 06:59:04 AM »

Anyone going to be watching this weekend?

Ringside seats averaging around 100K per ticket, 156K for suites

100$ to watch on pay per view

I'm sorry, if I pay 100K to watch a fight someone better die in the ring

If this isn't about stuffing pockets.... I don't know what is.  Undecided

Wow... I knew you were old, but you remember the Jeffries vs. Johnson fight of 1910? Dang, that's impressive that you're still sucking air, much less working and riding a Valk! Cheesy

Yep....friends of mine have a fantasy football group and are doing their initial picks for the season on Saturday night.  After they finish everyone who wants to stay and watch the "event" can chip in $X to cover the PPV.  If we get 10-15 guys participating it won't be so painful on the wallet.

Last fight I saw was Moneyweather and Pacman fight. If maydancer would have actually had to box instead of dance, pacman would have worn him down to a nub. But.....the dance routine won him the fight. Money maker, yes, real fighter, not so much.  He'll win this one too, because he doesen't  ;Dhave to do anything but dance around, land a punch once in a while.  I'd love to see them tie there waists together with about a 4 foot rope and watch them battle it out. Now that would be a fight.

He's done that his entire career. I don't remember one fight of his that he wasn't on the bicycle. But, you can't blame him. It's made him rich beyond measure.

Yeah, it'll be Mayweather dancing and jabbing, avoiding a fight. McGregor will be taunting and chirping, trying to lure him into a fight. Mayweather will dance and jab for 10 rounds until Mac gasses then maybe TKO him.

Having said that, I'd love if they came out swinging and Mac knocked him out in 2.

There's a bunch more Tiger - Yankee games.

The fighting is really piss poor, but the energy and determination is so much better than professional boxing.  And it's way more than just two guys.  cooldude Grin

Maybe....just maybe, these two idiots will knock some sense into their heads and that will be the last we hear from/of them. Yeah I know.....wishful thinking. The last real scrape I got into was in the Air Force, only thing that saved me from brig time was everyone in the barracks said I was defending myself. When the instigator came to his senses(woke up) in the dispensary, he admitted to it. He then was sent on a 30 day convalescent leave, after which he was discharged from the AF. Can't imagine doing something like that for a living.

Maybe we'll get lucky and it will end this way.  uglystupid2

One of the all-time thieveries in boxing history was awarding the championship fight between Hagler vs.
Leonard to Sugar Ray.  Hagler won that fight convincingly and it was given to Leonard because he was prettier.  Marvin beat on his pretty face and brought the fight to Leonard, who was dancing and moving backward for most of the fight. Leonard wouldn't give the Marvelous Man a rematch; not an honorable man, but he was wise because Hagler would have killed him if given one more shot at pretty boy.
After that theft, Hagler gave up the ring, moved to Italy and married an Italian girl.  I don't blame him one bit.  They took his title, but they didn't take his dignity.

cooldude agreed, another thievery was Ali vs. Kenny Norton in '75 or '76. Norton won the fight but Ali was everyone's favorite.

Personally,  I would fight back in the day Mike Tyson for a cool 1 million.  I may not last 2 rounds, but can take a punch or two or three for that kind of dough..

I can dance around and move on out of his way for awhile anyways?  If you see most heavyweight fights most do nothing more than stand there like a big duffus and not throw many punches.  I can do that being a big duffus.... Cheesy

I just heard the payout might be as high as 700 million.  O.K.,  I upped my pay from 1 million to 50 million and if was Tyson, I would protect my ears from being bitten off as well.... 2funny

Chipping in with a Buddy for the PPV. This fight wouldn't even be an undercard back in the day of real fighters. I am to young but remember my father talking about Jake Lamotta and Rocky Marciano, Sugar Ray Robinson,  and I remember Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hagler, Joe Frazier/Ali. Hell even Rocky Balboa was more entertaining  Grin

I see this farce of a fight going the distance and Numbnuts Fairweather winning on points. There is No way he Knocks out McGregor, he is used to getting round housed  by a kick to the head, I doubt Floyd can hit that hard.

McGregor cant Box so he will be chasing Floyd all over the ring, while the 100K seats are yelling at them to fight !!! Maybe by the 7/8 th round McGregor gets pissed off from chasing Floyd and goes MMA on his ass, and the fight is stopped due to breach of contract.... crazy2 My 2 cents

Meh... This fight is a joke, McGregor is going through a meat grinder fighting with boxe rules against Mayweather.

Mayweather was kind of a chicken never fighting Pacquio when the later was on his prime.

I've never been into boxing... never saw the sense of 2 men beating each other up...

The whole idea is to fight only when forced to, and then there are no rules - get it over and done with ASAP.

Yep Iron Mike, in his prime, was one bad dude.  Scary hydraulic force in those punches.  Fight him for all the tea in China?  No way!
