No way this could have been a planned political stunt.  ???

Yep. Probably like the players planned political stunt.
Agreed. Shouldn't we expect more from a Vice President than a football player though ? I do.
NO.
WHY?
If I need to explain why we should expect more from a Vice President than a privileged football player, then no explanation will get thru.
As American citizens I expect them both to behave themselves and honor the flag/anthem. And I do not understand why you would not expect the same!
Stunts unfortunately are to be expected from many entertainers and sports figures. It should not be expected from our Vice President.  coolsmiley

What!  Politicians doing stunts....unprecedented.

No way this could have been a planned political stunt.  ???

If the plan was to leave if the "protesters" decided, again, to disrespect the Flag, the National Anthem, every Veterian that has served, and America in general, then it's a plan I agree with.  Political or not.

The "protesters" put the plan into action.

Mike Pence did what I would have done.
Bill, that's fine. But lets take it for what it was, a stunt to show up the protesters.

It's all about perspective.   Yours is obviously not shared by many.
I can live with that.

I sincerely doubt you realize how personal this attack is to the vast majority of Americans, especially Veterans.   I view it similar to pissing on the graves of all those who have served in the past to give you and those protestors the right they are now using.    Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.    If at some point in the future someone finds a way to truly insult you and what you believe in, please let us know.    I'll be sure to remind you of this protest.    Yes, I take this very personally.
Ron, please listen to this. I am not in favor of these players taking a knee, IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM ! I think what they are doing is stupid and wrong. I think the owners are just as dumb for letting them do it. They have clauses in their contracts for "conduct detrimental to the team". I think they should apply those clauses. I am a veteran. I would never do anything disrespectful towards our country, nor would I let any of my children or grandchildren. But to say the are "pissing on the graves" is not true. They are taking a knee in protest of what they believe are injustices towards people of color. You fought for this right, I served for this right. Regardless of how stupid theses protesters are.
Yet you disagree with all here that take offense to this.
Taking a knee for injustice of people of color has ZERO to do with the Flag or National Anthem! Period.
It is not a protest of the anthem but a protest DURING the anthem !
Simply as pissing on the ones who dies for this country.

Did you ask the three about Weinstein and what Happened there? Along with Obama, Clinton and rest of the Democrats? While you are at it we heard so much from Baldo and Meat about our president making a derogatory remark about grabbing, I am amazed at how silent they are one this along with why would it be ok for the millions that Weinstein gave not to be given back, the knowing and acceptance of what went on among the fellow elites not to mention Hollywood.

I am also amazed that this is pretty much being kept alive by one person that argues all sides of a situation and does not state his own personal position and stay with it. I only bring this up because, like who they would vote for was concealed till later in the game there was argument about all things on both sides. Most would be happy to state their case and leave it but it seems stirring is the name of the game for this person.  Now we can conclude that either this is their way, they do it on purpose to cloud the issue or argue a point or the other options are for you to decide. I make no mention about who this is but read the posts and think about the positions that were reflected and by who and it will be self evident.

Although I haven't actually looked for it, it seems the networks are passing on showing the national anthem.

I didn't see it before the Giants/Chargers game, so I didn't boycott the game.

I did see a lot of empty seats, but that may be partly because the Giants are tanking big time, which makes me smile.  And the reason I watched it was to hopefully see them lose again, which they did. Smiley

Aaron Rodgers has still got it. cooldude

Apparently, no one protested at that game.

I was watching the Kansas City/ Houston game when I visited this web page.

http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/251686/nfl-players-who-protested-during-national-anthem-in-week-5

4 Kansas City players protested, so I shut the game off.

Hopefully, I get to see the Yankees get beat.

the Packers organization is class act role model for the most part that I am aware of for the entire NFL.   Packers is fan owned so we as shareholders (not me though) have some say in what they do.  I can not think of anyone with any dignity would disrespect America like that, but could be wrong.  I thought I saw though a few weeks ago a few Packer players kneeling as well, but could be mistaken? since no longer showing playing of the Anthem,  hard to tell just on TV what is really being done at the stadium.

Back on track:  Does anyone really think that VP Pence leaving was not just a planned event already knowing he would leave before the game started?  Am sure it was all planned knowing full well NFL players would kneel to take a stand with Trump on this issue and the media soaked it all in showing it dozens of times.  Trump and the NFL big wigs right now do not like each other and this media event by VP Pence is for Trump.

That's the OLD Packers, now they might as well move to 'frisco. A few weeks ago I came in from yard work, and flipped on the set for the Packers game just in time for the last few minutes of pregame, then the Anthem. 3 Packers were sitting in protest. I turned off the TV and went back outside. I have been a fan from the '60s and own 2 shares of stock. Mark Murphy (team president) and Mike McCarthy (head coach) came out in support of the protests and Aaron Rodgers tried to spin it by calling for the fans to lock arms in support (of some vague wonderfulness).
I sent my stock back to Murphy and haven't watched a game since. Nor will I, ya cant cheer for people you can't respect.

As I and many other have stated before.

When the NFL owners coffers start to be effected change will happen.

Roger Goodell is nothing more than a puppet with the owners controlling the motions.

Robert,

Answering for myself here.....the last I knew, Weinstein is not an elected official in a position to make changes to how the citizens of this country live their lives. Therefore, I really don't give a rodent's rump about him. He'll get his day in court. I wish I could say the same for some in this administration.

But hey, it's nice that you're thinking about me.... cooldude

Why should a VP of the US be held hostage in not going to a game he wants to go to?

How about when the cast of Hamilton made him listen to their disgusting "pre planned" speech???

What would the charges be?  How long has this "investigation" been going on?  Over a year now.  Unless I missed something, I haven't heard of one item of legal evidence to implicate this administration in any illegal activity of any kind.  Have you?

And before someone rattles off a laundry list of supposed indiscretions, look into whether the specific item(s) are actually against the law, and not something you think should be because Trump did it.

Too bad the rest of the crowd didn't stand and follow him out.

I'll bet many wanted to, but.......

Although fans may be very angry at what the players are doing, there is a very large investment made in attending a game in person, and it can be a really great experience.  Tickets are very expensive and many people sacrifice a lot to go to a game and/or take your kid to a game.  You want to be able to enjoy that experience of seeing 50,000 other fans wearing hats and jerseys, cheering for your team.  You begin to feel part of something.  For a few hours, your senses are overloaded, your cheering and screaming, your kid is happy and your happy you can do this for him.  It's hard to throw all that money and everything else away because of politics.

My last thought on this.  This is just one more example where the blame is taken away from those who caused and perpetuate the problem and placed on those who are forced to deal with the fallout.
