Stock exhaust cross compatibility

Ok, been riding Valkyrie's for 20+ years and I should know the answer to this question. But I haven't been active on the boards in a while and I can't find a post that addresses it to confirm.
I recently picked up my first Interstate and it has Cobra 6x6 pipes on it. My standard has Two Brothers 6x6. I actually miss the stock exhaust sound at this point. So, finally getting around to the question- I remember there being a reason that you can't use standard/tourer stock exhaust on an Interstate...what is it? I know I can find standard stock exhaust a lot easier. Can they be made to work on my IS? Maybe I even mistaken in my memory that they won't work. Straighten me out if so.

You can use the Standard/Tourer pipes on an IS but the OEM tips will not reach the end of your bags and will look kinda strange.  You can replace the Tourer tips with longer custom tips or Honda triple tips to solve that problem.

I had an 99 IS that was set up with Tourer pipes and Honda Triple tips that looked good from the sides and rear.

The length difference is real... But Tourers have bags... I ran Interstate
pipes on my Tourer for a while, they have longer piggies and the tips
make for a differently shaped "echo chamber" - they're a little
quieter...

You can also easily solve the length issue with a set of truck stacks to extend the pipes past the bags without molesting the stock pipes.  I put IS bags on my Standard and put on a set of truck stacks and it extended the pipes past the bags by about 4"    Piggies in tact,it changes the sound a bit but not much. I have been happy.  And to me they look much better than stock tips.

Bighead, I really like the looks of those tips/caps on your stacks. Where can I find those? Reminds me of a set of Kerker headers I used to love on a Suzuki GS many years ago.

Does Mark T. sell those truck stacks? They look way better than the stock.

I can just pull off the stock covers and tips, .. and then slide on the truck stacks?

Yep that setup on Bighead's bike looks sweet.  Pretty sure those caps were machined by Grumpy who is a member on the board and the stacks are from a  truck stack company.

I have a set of stock Standard/Tourer exhaust and two sets of tips - a standard and longer Interstate ones in nearly perfect shape. Taken off the bike with less than 6k miles when I upgraded to Mar T's truck stacks

The tip is machined by grumpy.

The truck stacks I don't think are available from the same people, I heard they don't sell them anymore (?), but MarkT either does or have different ones. You can take the tip off and replace the 18", or the whole pipe and get a 36".

I found them too tight for the hole length, mine was 45', 90' should be easier to press on.

Bingo. They Are Grumpys. Ordered those stacks from air-flo. I have an extra set that havent been put on. Was gonna do it to my IS but sold it

Forge, let me know what you want for them when you are ready to sell. We're heading to Galveston from Sherman on Friday the 3rd and coming back Thursday the 9th. Maybe the wife would let me detour over and pick them up along the way to or from.

Kinda common theme going on here, I also have a extra stock standard set of pipes I will need to sell eventually.
I would rate them a 9 out of 10.

Well I got an extra set from my local Honda shop years ago.  After the OEM were unavailable for $100 and not they are not for sale also got a whole rearend for $200 only had about 600 miles on it it was a pull off that a guy did a trike on. And no it isn't for sale either
