82 and mostly cloudy for my 30 mile commute this morning... 'sposed to be upper 90's and partly cloudy for the ride home, but... it's a RIDE, so it's all good!

did it today. 1st ride in over a week. Hurt my right leg last week. numb from the knee down. Thru a leg over her the other day and I thought I was gonna knock her over.  Couldn't get my leg high enough and kicked the saddle bag. Get on the high side and all is well!  Very nice ride in to. Put a b'wing fairing bra on and added some fairing wings. Had to saw out the b'wing to make them fit but it took all the wind off my chest. Suppose to be 48 deg tonight. We'll see how the ride home is in the morning with the wings.

First day after getting my bike and I had to work a 12 hour shift and the forecast was calling for rain.  My answer to that was "who gives a damn?" and took the Valk on my 30 minute commute to the insane asylum.

Good news, partly cloudy all the way in -- pissed all day -- cleared up and dry roads all the way home.  Sweet!

Went back to work today. I rode in early this morning to the first campus. Then at lunch I rode up the super slab to the edge of downtown Charlotte and went to the second job. Now I'm heading back. I've picked up something to eat before going back to work more at the first campus. About a hundred hot miles today round trip. At least I have a job.

Recently on Labor Day, I was so focused with getting back home to take care of work related issues that I had trouble enjoying my ride. That was a shame. Today I had a little time before heading to work. So I left early and took the long way. Drug my heels around some twisties and around the hilly part of the county.

Then I stopped at a gas station advertising Freddies Famous Hot Dogs. I grabbed a bag of five and a grape sunkist and kept riding. I found a shady small town park and sat and ate some hot dogs. The sound of kids playing, cars poking down mainstreet. It was a nice lunch.

Then off to work. I'm here and settling in trying to decide what to do first.

It hasn't rained in about 15 days. My outdoor plants are taking that rough. I'm just riding. Today was almost cool. I had a blazer folded into a saddle bag again. Back to work. I'm working a part time job where I need to wear a jacket and look a little sharper.

I met one of my co-workers today. He said, "you must be the new English teacher" as I walked up. Apparently I have that look about me.

I'm not sure what that means. The ride in was nice. Another day at work kicking in.

Rode in today. Had a miscommunication with the Missus about meeting up in "the big city" and took the opportunity on the ride home to finally bed-in my new rear brake pads. Goodbye squeal, I won't miss you!

Rode to work (a week ago Saturday) to Arizona, been doing 85 mile round trip commutes every day since.  Did I mention this is in northern Arizona!?  Seems like a dream, but heading home on Tuesday...

Rode the 67 miles in this morning at 45 degrees. I couldn't be happier that my heated liner showed up tonight!!!

This morning was a nice 65 degrees when I left the house. It warmed up considerably.
After work, my wife met me for dinner before a poetry reading. Motorcycles and poetry. Nice. It was  a nice day.

49 now getting ready to take the Valkyrie to the Bronx.  Couldnt take the bike yesterday, was gonna be in a tough neighborhood until 10pm and didnt want her to make any friends or take any trips without me.

Should get up to 70 for the ride home and sunny again

Today I had planned a visit to a customer, who has become a good friend, that is a bike nut like me. His factory is about 90 miles from here, and since there is a great route that is all backroads, I decided to go there by Valk, instead of my cage.

When I left at just before 8 am, it was 39 degrees, so for the first time this riding season I wore chaps, and full fingered gloves. That together with an extra cotton turtleneck shirt and a leather jacket kept me very comfortable on the ride there.

The ride was fantastic! The Fat Lady always seems to run extra strong when it's cool. The warm air coming from the radiator through the pods of the IS was actually a welcomed addition this morning. Of course when I got there, my friend and one of his engineers, who also rides, came out to the parking lot to look the Valk over. Obviously, to a group of bikers, this takes precedence over any business dealings, and must be done first.

Of course, all you guys already know how that converstion went! To say they were impressed with my Fat Lady would be an understatement!  Dale rides a '10 H-D Street Glide with a lot of extras. His last HD was a 2007 Street Glide that had a Jims 120 inch motor instead of the HD unit, and 19 inch Weld Wheels front and back. He fought Head Shake the whole time he had the bike. I guess somehow changing the wheels and tires changed things to the point that the bike was NOT happy!  I guess the last tank slapper the bike went into was enough to convince Dale to trade for a new bike. 

After we finished our meeting, it was time to ride home. It was mid afternoon, and the temp had gone to the low 70's. Great ride! When I got back home, I had gone about 190 miles. The only problem is that now tomorrow when I take the cage, it will not be anywhere as good a day as today was!

Had a nice ride in this morning. A little cool, cloudy and some wind but otherwise a very nice ride. Besides I just had a new rear tire put on and need to get some miles on it before I head to Robbinsville, NC for the FCR.

Rode in this morning after replacing my front rotors and pads last night.  A cool tinge (sp?) to the air and it felt real nice.  Front brakes are like new!

potato soup and chocolate cake mmmmmmm.... and brought home some crawdad pie for supper...

My son started UNC Charlotte this year, loves it in Charlotte, at least the UNC campus. All my money goes there too!

Stoopid drought... I noticed this week that some big dogwoods down in the woods were dying, the little Christmas tree shaped thing in this
picture is dead (had much sentimental value), a fair sized oak tree next to the house is dead...



Things were so good (wet) until a couple of months ago... supposed to start raining again in a few days...

Rode in twice this week.  Replaced the front rotors Wednesday evening and rode Thu and today. Came a frog strangler at lunch, glad I went with the boss. 
It will be a sauna on the way home.
Headed to NY City for next week, so won't be riding.  But I will get to see New York and I have never been there.

I've been busy and have not been on the board much. Posted even less. I'm still riding to work, job to job, trying to make it. I've lost track of how many days in a row. All of them. All of the days I've worked this fall have been on the back of the Valk tourer commuter.

The mesh gear is in the closet, the winter windshield is mounted, and my two commutes this week have been brisk, returning home in the dark. The trike is still in the shop, but the scooter let's me sweep and swoop through curves that would need to be muscled through on the trike. Hopefully I'll continue my bicep building shortly; 'till then, two wheels is a hoot!

I've taken the bike in to work everyday for the past couple of months.  Perfect temps yesterday - 77° on the way in, 89° on the way home.  Its prime riding season here now.

I wore my cold weather hat in this morning.  It was 47, not for the first time this year, and I've certainly ridden at or below 47 in my summer hat, but it just seemed it was time.  It's the first time I've had that hat out of the closet in a little over six months.

I've been wearing cool weather gloves off and on now for a couple of weeks, but haven't yet given in to the jacket liner.

Who else is in on two today?

Changed the rear tire and rear brake pad Saturday so I can keep riding. Didn't go in today, because it is all saints day. Gotta love working at the Catholic college.  I'll ride a lot tomorrow.

44 degrees when I opend the shop at 5:00 this morning. Point the Valk south, 43 miles later, I'm at work and it's 52. Had my longies on, lined jacket & gloves, and full helmet. It was a little cool coming down out of the bean fields but once I got to the traffic, it wasn't bad. Should be about 74 when I head home this afternoon - that'll be nice. Hope my fellow motorists are too.
