I've been trying to decide which of Grumpy's tips to go with. After allot of searching I've found some pictures of the trim rings installed, but cant find any of the small bore tips installed . I imagine they wont really look much different the the standard tips. But i was wondering if any of them will help with the drone caused by having the stacks with the rear baffle section completely removed. I've already made the baffle sections into silencers like the ones from Mark T.(great idea ), without replacing the baffle plug. Even with the baffles still completely drilled out they are too quiet for around town. I love the way it sounds without the rear baffles , but cruising over 2500 rpm makes my ears ring .

Definitely can't beat the finishing touch of Grumpy's tips . Just wondering do they do anything for the drone caused by the stacks, and removed rear baffle section. I was expecting it when I installed the stacks, but it's much worse than I was prepared for . I've thought about several options to make a large single baffle to slip into the end of the stack, but don't have access the the required equipment. I'll have to stop by an exhaust shop and see what my options really are. I just want to tone it down some, not go back to stock drilled baffle sounds.

Dave, if you want I can extract 6 baffle plugs for you to reinstall.  You drive them inward from the inside end using a socket wrench and short extension until it hits the old baffle.  If it's snug and it should be, you're done.  When I fix them I always do a couple welds on the edges of the holes.  Which means the silencers are "skinned" to get to the sides of the tubes.  I don't think I've ever taken a pic of such repaired baffles - but you can imagine it, looking at this pic.  The welds are at the edge of the large holes in the tubes in the pic below.

Not doing it free because it takes me a half hour or so to extract them from removed baffles - and others will see this and want it too.  I will do it for $20 plus postage - $6 for priority mail, small box, I think covers it.

Yes they do help.  MarkT's silencers work well, but there's also a light weight option that helps a lot.  I'm at work now...but I'll post a link to that easy fix later with pics.

The ones pictured on BF's bike are the ones I have, They took care of the drone of which you speak.  What a mellow sound now.    Hoser

The smaller bore tips would help even more....as they'll breakup the exhaust note even more than the large bore helps with.

Mark T. I'll let you know, I might decide to get a set of the plugs just to have in my tool box. As of right now with them drilled out it is quieter than what I'm looking for. I did skin them like yours, but only because I could hear a bunch of stuff rattling around in them. The cans themselves are stainless, but apparently nothing inside them is(a lot of rust flakes and chuncks fell out when I skinned them). I wound up cutting the piggies flush with the can, due to the staggered cut they had when I got the exhaust. They were already cut too short, and the 3rd tip mounting point already gone.
