Does anyone know if the bearing in the belt tensioners can be replaced or do you have to purchase the whole unit....I had one go out and the oem part is about $80 and they should both be replaced according to their tech...gets alittle expensive when you could probably get new bearings for maybe $12..

Don, a while back there was a write up on here re. how to rebuild them. Take a look and I'll do a search in the mean time also.

Hey, he beat me by a minute.  :cooldude:

Yep, if you have a drill and a 1/2 bit and a vise you can rebuild this real easy. I used the Gates T42015 Idler Pulley. I have 8,000 miles on the rebuilt unit. I used the Goldwing article to get ideas and the part number. Go for it. It cost me less than $25.

Just let us know when Tracy finishes the job!  :2funny:

Sorry Don, just couldn't help myself considering the clutch repair she did a while back.  ;)

Thanks John, great shot for my ego.. ;D...Tracy is a dam good mechanic when it comes to bikes, she does everything by the book....but, in this case, it's her bike I'm working on, some things she doesn't like working on, one is electrical and the other is messing with the timing belts...in those cases she just supervises, drives me crazy.. :D

Rebuild them Don.

A buddy of mine has a pair he  rebuilt like a couple of years ago and they are holding up super good after about 35K on them.

I shouldn't say this, but he is a Harley Tech at the Harley shop here in town.

Not sure how he is connected to the Valk owner in relationship.
