I'll make it easy for you, although I thought it would be plainly evident. The group to which I refer is the angry, conservative male/female who believes our current President is either a Communist, Muslim, foreign born, America hating, tyrannical, empirical, gay (not that there's anything wrong

Why is it that it seems the moniker "angry" only applies to conservatives?  I hear it all the time.

Yet, on all the news, the "angriest " people I see are the Black Lives Matter, the Bernie Sanders "Give me free crap" crowd, the LGBT group, the left wing anti capitalists in Portland and Seattle, liberals shutting free speech down with protests,  etc.  Those are the ones I see in the streets, tearing things up, wrecking things, rioting, blocking traffic, kill the police liberals.  I do NOT see the conservatives doing that.  I am sure it was not conservatives that tore up, and burned down, Ferguson, MO!  They seemed REALLY ANGRY, they were liberals.  You NEVER see conservatives pulling that crap.

Liberals have nothing to give, there is no reason to vote for them, there policys only bring us down,
Really ? If you are willing to give up your Social Security check, your Medicare, your civil rights then I am willing to listen.

And why should we give those up after being forced to pay for them all of our working careers?  Shouldn't the people that have never contributed not receive them instead?  Our at least give us the option to opt out from the beginning.

I don't get the relevance of your statement.

The relevance that I was trying to express was , he had said liberals have done nothing for the country. I was saying they have and those programs are part of it.

Sooooo let me see here, to receive a small return on your money you have invested in (S.S.) (forced) for fourty years is "unprincipled,  but allowing a 6'2" 250 lbs bearded man to go potty with your 5 year old daughter is ok and a GOOD thing!  Well,..I wouldnt be able to take seriously much you would have to say.   Just pointing out one of the good things  liberals have done'. Along with all those other good things the 'divider and chief' has PUSHED on the American people.  He also has sold more guns than ANY president EVER !  I guess that is something ?  YEP,..thats what we need alright,  8 more years of the same .  BUT  Don't forget,... Bush did it...!
About the"Angry conservatives" the liberal controled media says that the conservatives  are angry, and they (stupids)  believe it .  They (media) totally ignore the violence and the anger and disruption the liberal minded groups engage in.  Professional agitators , bused there for that very purpose to 'show' how violent Trump supporters are.   I dont see that on the conservative side.   Give me an example of conservatives shutting down a Clinton speach , or blocking a bridge or forcing the closing of a major street or setting fire to anything.  There is much anger there but you don't hear that from the biased media.  Only conservatives ....says the liberal biased media.

Got it, so it's not a retirement investment system where your contributions are stolen from you with a gun to your head...

...it's a Ponzi scheme where your contributions are stolen from you with a gun to your head.

And that somehow makes it better?

I stand by my earlier statement, let me opt out of this Ponzi scheme, have back what's already been stolen from me, and I'll happily waive claiming my payout when I reach retirement age.
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

Meathead, I scanned the article to which you linked.

First let me say that if you think that was a meaningful and unbiased (  :2funny: ) assessment then our discussion is pretty well done.

On the other hand if you are interested in how far off their calculations were here are a few points.  The person(s) doing the assessment failed to consider the difference in value of what was put in as compared to what was provided as benefit.  Since what was paid in would have been over some forty years that is very relevant.  That difference in value is based solely upon the effect across time of inflation.  There is no consideration in the assessment of the advantage the system receives from folks who reach their demise either prior to receiving any of their benefits or at least prior to receiving the entirety of their expected benefits.  They focused entirely upon what is believed to be the expected average.  I guess one should mention the time difference between between when the money was taken and when it was returned.  A conservative (  :o ) investment of that money had it been left up to the victim would have resulted in significant growth over the years, perhaps much more than the estimated "one third more" that they're expected to receive from Social Security.

My IRA to which I've only contributed for a relatively few years is about thirty percent more than what I have invested into it.  I really don't view myself as not being the one who contributed what I will be receiving.  Perhaps that perception is different with some.

I think Social Security at its formation was a good thing because it forced an investment for retirement upon folks who otherwise may have not planned for such a time.  I do think Social Security went terribly awry when they started deciding to dole it out to folks who had never contributed to the fund.

Let's say what we want about the good or ill of the system but let us not with a straight face tell anyone who has been taxed for a lifetime that he will receive more than he put in.

Two thumbs up Willow, well said .  :cooldude: s.s. taxpayers would have to be in 100 + range to draw most of what they have paid into the system, even at max benefit to receive  $864,000 .  I just can't believe those figures not even a little bit.  Coolaid drinking going on here maybe ?

I don't disagree with any of that. It is hard to get accurate numbers on it. I linked it because seems on "average" the statement that people pay in 3 times what they get back is inaccurate. I would also agree that the "system" has went awry in many ways.  :cooldude:

Perhaps, but those liberals of the past did not operate from an abiding hatred of traditional America, it's values, and it's people.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Those 3 men were Democrats, not liberals.  There WAS a difference back then.

johnathan gruber  is right about the stupidly of the america voter ...

Nope, he's only right about a drop more than half of them in 2008 and 2012.

The ACA that gruber penned, in a "tortuous" manner so they wouldn't even know what they were voting for, did not received ANY Republican votes.  The Republicans saw what it was and voted against it to save the American citizen from losing their insurance, losing their doctors, and oppressive deductibles........ You know, the lies of the decade!

Only the half voted for it because they really didn't care who got hurt.  So millions got tossed and denied, but they meant well, right??

Nope, as I see it, gruber is only half right.
