Concealed Carry...how often and where?

Just curious, if the present climate of increased violence has made differences.

If you didn't have it, are you pursuing the permit now?

If you already had it, do you find yourself carrying more often
and/or in places you previously didn't feel it was necessary.

Always and everywhere, even sitting at home. If I can't carry I don't go (With VERY few unavoidable exceptions.)

But I've been doing this for over 10 years, nothing new with the current unrest.

I do IV therapy @ patient's homes in sometimes very sketchy areas of the city, and always carry in my vehicle. The company I work for says that it's prohibited, that I could be terminated for doing so. They can go to hell, it's my vehicle & they're not the ones at risk.

That's why I haul ass across Ill from Ind to Iowa. 

In the past when I did have to stop for the night in Ill, I carried around the hotel.

I carry prob 95% of the time and have for 10+ yrs. Only time I don't is at my construction job. But I do at lunch. As for my EMS job, well lets just say  .... I always carry on trips. Sturgis/ Black Hills is gun friendly but no carry into bars. 
Im pro OC and do that a lot during the summer.

Same here. Springfield XDS in .45 with integrated Crimson Trace laser. Hornady Critical Defense rounds.

My wife just got her permit a few weeks ago .....
Im so proud if her ....
I got her a little ruger lcp (smallest gun she could find there)
but really like her to have a revolver ...

Been carryin' long before this current situation. Carry often and as much as I can. Love taking it to the county courthouse for the permit renewal.... The sheriffs there are cool about it and have a lock box while I am inside. Plan my trips to other states on who is friendly to my permit. Need to get another permit from another state so I can expand my legal carry ability.  Just got my wife with her CC permit...just in case. She is not ready to carry, just yet.

Prior to the last couple of years I carried either .38  or a PPK 380, this was mainly to protect against robbery or close in counter assault, but with the type of violence that has been happening in the last couple of years, I have moved up to a larger caliber with laser sights and also carry 2 extra mags. It doesn't seem to just be one shooter anymore and even if it is only one shooter they are using rifles with high capacity mags, therefore I have increased fire power and the amount of ammo on hand..

I started CC daily (illegally) the day after 911.  Carried everywhere even where forbidden, I figured I was already illegal so why not.  Then Judy and I got our licenses so I try to carry legal like since I have the card.

Judy asked me "when should we carry". I told her that was the wrong question.  The right question is " when shouldn't we"

We only don't carry now when it's forbidden by law, and that gives me a pain I can't locate, but I try to remember and comply.

My normal carry is a 686 .357 4" bbl .

I also sometime carry a 642 J frame .38+P when Im wearing  very light attire

I'm doing what I've been doing for many years.

I avoid all city/urban areas like the plague that they are (and 711s at night) (and all amusement parks, concerts and all other public events/places overpopulated by unreliable humans) same as I have all my life.  The major exception to this is crowded gun shows, I always feel very safe at them for some reason.

Despite the media sensation(s) of late, and excluding Chicago and all other big cities, the US violent crime stats are down across the board, not up.

YES,  Lifetime permit,  heavy caliber, concealed carry only.  No need to let the bad guys know.
I am also always aware of my surroundings, I don't figure on being some damn rabbit.
My son and I will run a few practice rounds tomorrow.  I now practice much more.

While on this subject....You ever wonder why your "Drivers' License" is equally good, valid, and recognized in every state; yet your "Concealed Carry License" is not?? That is one of the things that I hope changes in the next six months!! Makes perfect sense to me!!!

Oh my gosh, you just opened my eyes to a whole new way of living   NOT! we are not fearful of being killed,  we are just taking measures to prevent that very thing. Maybe something you Canadians can't understand. Bullet proof vest are heavy and uncomfortable.

With the changes to the "Castle" law here in Tn. she can keep it in her car without a carry permit.
We don't get to practice often enough so I figure K.I.S.S applies.
357 Ruger LCR DAO runnin' 38+p
(unless she can handle the 110g 357's).
Chose the Ruger cause the trigger's so smooth right outta the box.
(better than a J frame, even with a trigger job IMHO)
Chose the 357 over the 38 for versatility, & I think the extra 4oz's helps her with the recoil.
She can put all 5 in a 9 inch paper plate at 21' consistently with the 38's.
Dang girl shoots better than I do!

Actually, no.  (I saw the invisible sarcasm font   )

The thought of someone trying an armed robbery at a gun show is nearly as ludicrous as doing so at a police station.  Although patrons may not carry loaded weapons at shows, permit or not (at least not the ones I attend, though there are hundreds of unloaded weapons being carried around for sale, and there's always armed State Troopers present, and I doubt many sellers do not have a loaded mag or speed loader right at hand).

The other thing about gun shows is this; the quality and character of the (great majority of) individuals present is considerably higher than most other large gatherings.  If something bad did happen there, the Let's Roll mentality would be the order of the day.

And if I was going somewhere that I needed to wear my vest, I would also be wearing my combat load vest over it with 8 X 30 rd mags, a Sig P220 .45 and 5 mags, a Kbar, and an AR in my hands (not slung).  Such a place exists only 20 miles away in SW Washington DC, and I would not go there any more than I would go to Syria (and I'm pretty sure I'd be safer in most of Syria).

Regarding vests, I would not go in harms way only to avoid being shot, I would go in harms way to outshoot any opponent.  If a mugger takes you under arms and all you have is a vest, he will shoot you in the head, and steal your vest.  And I think he would be laughing over your corpse (about the vest).

Two Smith j-frame .357's, Model 60 & Model 649, green Crimson Trace laser grips, strong side IWB hybrid holster, Conceal carry vest.  Always.  Everywhere.  Can draw quick no matter the circumstance, and the other is backup. Got a CCW as soon as it was available in 2003. Find the Smiths are perfect for carry - very small profile, no printing, fast handling, deadly accurate (great trigger, 2.5# on single action), love the green lasers. Much more convenient than the bigger autoloaders I used to carry - and hit harder, albeit with fewer rounds in reserve - still carry a couple speed loaders. If it's a Gun Safe Zone - they don't need my business.  If the state doesn't have reciprocity for my permit - they won't see me spending money in their borders.

In South Africa the rules of engagement for the police are so ridiculous that criminals were brazenly breaking into police stations and stealing the weapons, the ROE prevented the cops from doing anything to stop them. The police finally had to hire private security services, who COULD shoot back, to protect the police stations...
