Who do you like in how many games?  Cleveland has home field advantage.

I don't follow sports ball stuff much.

I have a police scanner app on my phone. If a bunch of people suddenly tune to a specific city's police scanner, I get an alert telling me so.

I just got an alert that lots of people were suddenly tuning into the Chicago police scanner.

So I googled to see what was going on in Chicago.

And that's how I learned the Cubs were going to the world series for the first time since 1945.

Because of the heightened police response to the celebration/potential riot of the fans.

First Pro baseball game I went to was a Cubs game. My B I L did NOT like the White Sox. So consequently after that game I grew up a Cubs fan No MATTER where I lived or where I was stationed. There was NO in between where I grew up-Lake County Illinois-you WERE either a Cubs fan or a White Sox fan. No way in hell wuz you ALLOWED to root fer both!  Kinda like mets/Yankees!    NOW they just NEED to WIN the Big Dance!  GO CUBBIES!

As most know, Cub fans have been the joke of the nation for years. As for Trump (who has been all but counted out), he will get my vote. I thought my line was a good comparison. Kind of lost interest in pro sports too. BUT IT IS THE CUBBIEEESSS! This is historic. This transcends everything. This is Epic.

And I can assure you that no one is kneeling in Chicago. They just took 75 years to conquer one curse. They are not going conger up another one. Anyone who tries will likely be at the bottom of a nearby lake.

Don't know who will win, but if the Cubs win, Theo Epstein, the GM, should go into the Hall of Fame. To accomplish building and bringing a World Series to 2 teams (the Red Sox and Cubs) that were both dry for about 80 years is really incredible. The man knows how to put a team together!

Put enough cash on the table and the talent will show up.   They already know how to play ball.

Last Brewers game I went to they were of course loosing some 7-8 years ago left at top of the 9th inning loosing by 3-4 runs I think and as soon as we got to our vehicle to beat the mad rush crowd of cars leaving, I hear the loudest ROAR of fans EVER,   the Brewers pulled the win out in the 9th inning.

I grew up in NW Indiana and spent many a day in Wrigley with my family as a kid.  Being a Cubs fan all of my life has been hard at times but worth it.  The old saying " any teem can have a bad century" is about to go by the wayside.  A lifetime + of waiting but when we win it will be a life well spent.

With the year nearly complete, the league can report that gross revenues increased $500 million for 2015, marking the 13th consecutive year MLB has seen record growth. While exact figures are not released, the league will enter 2016 with revenues approaching $9.5 billion.

Growth for baseball continued around media rights and other facets. While there continues to be talk of the media rights bubble bursting, dividends continue to come in. As an example, the Philadelphia Phillies saw rights fees increase from $25 million annually to $100 million as part of their new $2.4-3 billion deal.

New sponsorships added to the league's coffers. All told, these new sponsorships reached in 2015 have total contract value over the life of the deals of $225-$275 million.

MLB Advanced Media had more than 3.5 million subscribers to its suite of digital products last year, including MLB.TV and the MLB.com At Bat mobile application.  MLB.com At Bat, the highest-grossing iOS sports app of all-time, was downloaded 11 million times in 2014, surpassing its previous record of 10 million downloads set in 2013.

MLB's attendance of approximately 74 million fans in 2014 was seventh highest ever.  The last ten years have been the ten most attended seasons in baseball history.

And there's little doubting that the league will see 2016 be rosy. Next year, the Arizona Diamondbacks will see the fruits of a new television rights deal with FOX Sports Arizona that increased from $250 million for the rights from 2008-15 to $1.5 billion for 2016-21, and the league already announced that in-market streaming will come to the 15 clubs that have FOX Sports support their regional sports networks. To add, the league will shortly announce partnerships for the new BAM Tech spin-off of MLB Advanced Media.

As a old Braves fan who has had NOTHING to celebrate for the last several years  ...

There's something to be said for not having a dog in the fight.

In these situations I usually pull for the underdog.  And, my allegiance may then change if one team is being taken to the cleaners -- and I'll then pull for a seven-game fight to the finish.

My Sis who is pulling for the Cubs is into the whole "goat curse" thing to the point of nauseation.

Honestly, at this point I think it will be a good, competitive Series   .

The pre game opening was really great. They showed several senior citizens talking about being fans of both teams including two women who were 100 and 103 years old all the while Tom Petty's "The waiting is the hardest part" was playing.

Kluber continues to be masterful for this year.  Struck out eight in the first three innings and had great movement/location on his pitches.  Cubs' hitters off balance.  Lester kept them in the game, but no hits mean no runs.  Perez in the nine spot hits two homers and four RBI's; stepping up big in the big tent.    Chicago has another chance tonight, but a second loss would bode ill for them.
Hope the weather holds up in Cleveland.  Play ball!

Lester is a good pitcher.  He good be a couple of notches better if he could teach himself to throw to first.  I couldn't believe a quality Indian runner got thrown out at second even knowing he had a free ride off first.
