Look out Billings, here we come!

I just did two IBA rides, West through South Dakota to Sturgis, then up to Billings and back across North Dakota.

I love riding the Dakotas... and any other place where you can ride all day without looping around a major metropolitan area.

in 2,162 miles, the only major city I had to navigate was Minneapolis.

Billings is OK, but if I were considering a Montana location, I'd be looking at Red Lodge.  It's right at the foot of the Bear Tooth Highway, one of my all time favorite rides.
Eh its only a hour from Billings.

We were in Morgantown WV last June. Just a stones throw from Zainsville. I'm not sure why anyone would own a motorcycle that only wants to ride less than 25 miles away. Motorcycles is made for riding. Get out and see the country. Yellowstone NP and Beartooth pass would be a good start. Come ride with us.  :cooldude:

Good point.  After riding 20 or so hours to get to Billings, what's an extra hour for a day trip?

Cody has a tremendous amount of hotels and some are very large with 4 or 5 buildings. Stayed at one a couple years ago and they had 4 bus loads of tourist staying there along with others and they where only half full.

Cody is "off the beaten path," with limited road access, compared to Billings.  Day trip options would be more limited.

I have only been to two Inzanes...Spearfish in 2015 and this year in Morgantown, and both have been fantastic events with more sights to see and great roads to ride that can be accomplished in the time spent attending. I've also ridden through many of the places enclosed in the Serkle over the years ... would be pretty easy to find a number of decent cities/towns in that region to hold 2017 in my mind, so I have no doubt we will have a great location.
One thing to remember... it's not only the location where Inzane  (or any other ride destination one plans for that matter) is being held... it's also the ride there and back that produces many of the great memories and new experiences associated with the event itself.

The dates for IZXVII are about 98% set for June 26-30 (early bird night, Sunday 6-25).
We are feverishly working with several hotels in several locations.
While there is no official announcement for location yet, expect somewhere in the western half of the country.

Dates still 98%?

I think I'd best leave this one at, "Tell her you are correct."   ;)

I'd bet there were a lot more active members during the first 5 to 6 years also.   The Fat Ladies were newer, more on the road, the riders were younger and more able to ride long distances.    A lot of those folks no longer ride Valkyries or, simply no longer ride.

I'd also wager (a very small amount, I'm cheap) that the center of the Valkyrie Universe is no where near the West Coast.

Just my opinion.  NOT BITCHING about it.   I'm going to do everything I can to make IZ17 but. until I have a location and know the travel time and probable cost, I can not commit.
[/quote]

My dad and I just purchased silver and green Valks, I can tell you the West is NOT the center of the Valk universe if going by where you find most of them for sale. Most of them for sale are in the midwest and several in Florida. I suspect people in the Midwest retiring in Florida with their Valks.

The Inzane registration usually opens after the first of the year. It's not expensive . I think registration and hotel was about $600 for my wife and I in Spearfish. You won't regret doing it. Most of the guys are closer to your dads age but there many your age also. You will meet and make many friends.  :cooldude:

Looks like if I ride 500 miles a day it will take 4 days to get there from Maryland.
Just think of all the the things I will get to see. I have been that way a few times and
always enjoy seeing how things change as I travel further and further west.
I have to admit as I get older it,seems harder and harder to go the distance, but
damn it sureally is worth it whenning I get there.
Seems I always end up ridding by myself on these trips, man you talk about

Looking for those who would be interested in riding and hiking exploring some of the areas.

I am in my mid 40's of good health so my thoughts are six mile hikes or less on well established trails. If anyone is going to Inzane from Oregon or Washington hit me up and maybe group ride out.

thanks,
