I agree for sure! Nearly every thread I read here about tires ended the same way. When someone states that a car tire is not something he's interrested in, he gets flamed immediately.

I don't think I've ever seen somebody flamed because they're not interested in the
Darkside. I have, however, seen numerous flamethrowers aimed at people that try
to say the Darkside won't work...ESPECIALLY those that have never even tried it!!
Everybody should ride the tire they like and not tell anybody else that their tire
is unsafe or that you only bought it because you're too cheap/poor to buy
something else. Like I said, I have 35,000 Darkside miles and I'm happy with it.
If somebody lives their whole life and never tries it (because they're not interested)
more power to 'em!

After the original equipment tires were gone at 8,181 miles and the Metzlers replacement only went 12,000.  I tried a cheap car tire which worked well and went 21,000 miles for $69.  Next I went to a Michelin Hyrdoedge 205/65R16 and it now has over 41,000 on it and I don't feel compeled to replace it yet.  The second Dunlop E-3 has gone over 21,000 which is good.

I also don't care what kind of tire you use, I stay on the darkside because I like it.

Tropic, check out the link from my earlier post, I've quoted it here, it will explain how to check your Valk for the largest tire that will fit.  Those of us running c/ts have already found there's quite a bit of difference between bikes.  I can fit an 8mm allen wrench between the sidewall and driveshaft tube and some are lucky to get a couple of business cards.

The motors I learned on were either 2 or 4 jugs and from 45 - 81 cubic inches.

Guess what, they had car tires on both ends........

So running a car tire is not a new adventure.....

Most of these tires were made by Firestone, Good Year or Monkey Ward (US rubber) I think it was.........

In 242K+, I'd say I have gone through over 100 car tires.  Do you realize how many firkin bike tires that would be?  That's what I figured, you didn't.

If I got caught on the road with a flat, 80% of the time I had to
go to a bike tire.     If it was in town here, and needed replaced it got another car tire.

So please don't bad mouth something you don't know anything about.  Thanks.

if you go back to a motorcycle tire you could have saved a bunch of money and saved the environment 84 used tires.
In 242,000 miles I'll have only used 16 MC tires.
