Hey...here's an idea, lets wait for all the facts to be in before judging either the cops and/or the victims.
BUT, if you are a concealed carry permit holder, play it safe and keep both hands on the wheel, when stopped.
Tell the cop where your firearm is located, along with your license/registration. Often they will
either retrieve them for you, or tell you to do so. This may be especially good advice now, as many
police officers may be extra sensitive to real/perceived threats, after Dallas.

He does not express outrage at double standards
Ask yourself how Kennedy took responsibility and how Obama does not
To me one measure of a man is what he does when he realizes something he said or did is not true or appropriate and how is goes about his life after realizing
I can count a few friends on this board who have done that and I am thankful for their friendship

Also, Jesse Jackson called the Louisiana shooting "clearly racist" on the Meagan Kelly Fox News program. Meagan Kelly called him out on that comment but he did not back it down. Comments like this serve only one purpose ............

You think there is chaos in the streets now between police and certain subsets of the public, just wait...
It has already begun, street officers all over the country, starting in the big cities, are pretty much giving up on proactive policing. No more stops of suspicious persons, no more "stop & frisks", no more intervention to the drug dealers out in front of the convenience store, no more traffic stops in high crime areas (a proven way to deal with "drive-bys" & other craziness).
Reactive policing will only beget more shootings, more drug dealing, more assaults, more destructive behaviors in already besieged neighborhoods. But when everyone gets tired of the chaos and victimization they will be screaming about the lazy, do nothing police.
It's not the way policing was meant to be, but it's what it is becoming... but what do you expect?
When I began my career, we were going through the Rodney King aftermath and now as my career is winding down, now comes the hard politicalization of policing. It's been a hell of a ride.
We individually only have 1* (one ass to risk)... and frankly most aren't going to risk it anymore... why?

The Minnesota tape only starts after he's shot. We don't know what happened before. The tape indicates different possibilities, that 's all. It does not look like a great shoot to me (all 4 shots), but I wasn't there, and jumping to judgment or conclusions is what is driving this local round of protests and this shooting.
Some of these controversial shooting have been justified, and some have not and cops have been convicted and sentenced. This is of course the due process we are all guaranteed, both victims and perpetrators. We are entitled to be tried in a court of law with rules of fair play, not a court of media hype and sensation by mob rule.
Fanning the flames is not good for anyone or for our country, and it's not doing civil rights and race relations any good either.
Black Lives issued a statement today saying the good (peaceful) works of their movement should not be judged by the acts of a single killer. But white policeman certainly deserve the same courtesy; and should not be randomly assassinated for the acts of a few, under-trained, stressed out, terrible judgment, rogue or even racist cops. The good works of the police are legion, and bad acts few.
Black Lives should acknowledge that about 90% or more of black homicides are committed by other black men, and not the police. National protests over the one and no mention of the other is dishonest, and self serving. If the minority committing the majority of violent crime (esp in all urban/city environments) want better treatment by the police, they should try to commit less violent crime, and be on the side of police to help reduce all crime.
You say you are afraid of the police. Do you not think that they have good reason to be afraid of you?

As I'm a fan of the truth, no matter in which direction it heads, it appears the rifle used wasn't an SKS but was a Saiga AK pattern rifle. The news is calling it an "AK74" although that's clearly not the case either. The Saiga in this configuration was imported into the US in 7.62x39, 5.45x39 and .223/5.56x45. I'm gonna guess this one was a .223/5.56x45 variant just because I've seen numerous references to it being a .223 rifle, but seeing how many times the media has gotten it wrong already, nothing would surprise me. I haven't heard anything about that either way, but I highly doubt it. Contrary to popular belief, to modify a semi auto to full auto is not a trivial matter, it's rather difficult to do it well and actually have the firearm be reliable at all. |

I was watching all these mindless opinion shows on TV Sunday Morning, with they always having the answer after the fact on these catastrophic things that have been going on. Do this! Watch this! What could have been done to avoid it! What are the signs! The same old questions and answers over and over. But the problem and the issues still exist and still keep happening over again. People commit crimes and violate the rules, and then when those people get caught, they expect to get treated as they are the victims. The way I was brought up, and what I was taught, when I screw up, and get caught, for me to keep my mouth shut and no matter what, treat police with respect and take my medicine. Those words have served me well in life, I never got beaten or man handled, I got back the respect I gave them. People have to understand these police have targets on their backs these days, because certain groups don’t respect them and see them as the enemy. Those people cause their own problems and generate their own results. On the news, over and over, these criminals after they have been convicted and sentenced, suddenly want to apologize for their actions, and just think that should be OK, problem solved! Now days there is so much unjustified hatred out there in our country, some don’t even know why, they just know they should hate anyone that don’t agree with them, and should be put down because what they don’t understand. It seems that the people that contribute the least seem to always demand the most and always want guarantees for anything. It’s getting very uncomfortable and with the statement made by the shooter in Dallas, we all may have to keep our backs to the wall. No one is exempt, no matter where you are.

This is gonna get much worse before it gets better, if it ever does get better...... I retired from Law Enforcement 23 months ago after 31 years of service. I still have many friends who are still there. My first shocking moment that I was now a civilian was when Chattanooga Military Reservists were attacked and killed in Chattanooga almost a year ago. I felt helpless, watching television and worrying about my friends who were responding as it was still ongoing.
I lost two friends due to the job during my active time as a LEO. The most recent one our last conversation will stay with me until the day I die. He was a Patrolman (served in Desert Storm) and I was a Major Crimes Detective primarily working Homicides. We had ran into each other as he was leaving one of the squad rooms. We talked a little catching up and on leaving he told me to "be safe". I told him the same and added he had to deal with bad guys while they were still dangerous and by the time I got there the situation was over . A week later he was ambushed and killed by someone for no reason with a long gun. His body was robbed of equipment and desecrated. Deputy Donald Bond was a good man who had recently been married and was living his dream. I will never forget his honest and true concern for me on our last meeting never expecting it to be our last.
The other Deputy, Lyle Sneed, I folded the US Flag over his casket. He was killed responding to a disorder.
I feel for the guys still working as LEO's. In the short time I have been retired it has gotten much worse. One thing I can tell you is this......Any Officer that is a racist or really has any other negative qualities gets weeded out fast. Maybe it went on in long ago days past, but it is no longer tolerated by administration or other Officers. There is simply no place for it.
The hatred and lack of respect for the Police comes from the top and is adopted by people who use it as a scam. We are in for some tough days ahead. For me this stuff really hits home. The Officers in Dallas, their family, friends and co-workers are going through a very difficult time. It's not tv or movies or a joke it is real. It was not an accident, it was done on purpose. It sounds like there were some hero's there that day. Be Safe

This is gonna get much worse before it gets better, if it ever does get better...... I retired from Law Enforcement 23 months ago after 31 years of service. I still have many friends who are still there. My first shocking moment that I was now a civilian was when Chattanooga Military Reservists were attacked and killed in Chattanooga almost a year ago. I felt helpless, watching television and worrying about my friends who were responding as it was still ongoing.
I lost two friends due to the job during my active time as a LEO. The most recent one our last conversation will stay with me until the day I die. He was a Patrolman (served in Desert Storm) and I was a Major Crimes Detective primarily working Homicides. We had ran into each other as he was leaving one of the squad rooms. We talked a little catching up and on leaving he told me to "be safe". I told him the same and added he had to deal with bad guys while they were still dangerous and by the time I got there the situation was over . A week later he was ambushed and killed by someone for no reason with a long gun. His body was robbed of equipment and desecrated. Deputy Donald Bond was a good man who had recently been married and was living his dream. I will never forget his honest and true concern for me on our last meeting never expecting it to be our last.
The other Deputy, Lyle Sneed, I folded the US Flag over his casket. He was killed responding to a disorder.
I feel for the guys still working as LEO's. In the short time I have been retired it has gotten much worse. One thing I can tell you is this......Any Officer that is a racist or really has any other negative qualities gets weeded out fast.
