Just expressing free speech? Seems more like harassment and humiliation. Not mature, or civilized.

Reminds me of the life of Jesus. Not comparing Pence to Jesus but of the public response. Jesus went to places he wasn't wanted or appreciated. I'm sure Pence and to a certain degree Trump must feel like they are in the lions den. Kinda illustrates that people haven't changed all that much in 2000+ years.

I wish they would boycot that play, its kind of ironic that its a play about the founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
Because not only did they not have enough respect for The VP Pence who they had in their midst to not boo him, but did it to the one who will probably bring this country back in line with the Founding Fathers principles.
What a disgrace and I am sorry for Pence. I wonder if Hillary would have gotten this treatment.
Quotes from Alexander Hamilton;
There are seasons in every country when noise and impudence pass current for worth; and in popular commotions especially, the clamors of interested and factious men are often mistaken for patriotism. Alexander Hamilton
Men often oppose a thing merely because they have had no agency in planning it, or because it may have been planned by those whom they dislike. Alexander Hamilton
TO bad they did not understand the true meaning of the man they were representing. He did also write the Federalist papers.
The Federalist (later known as The Federalist Papers) is a collection of 85 articles and essays written (under the pseudonym Publius) by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay promoting the ratification of the United States Constitution.
It could have been handled so much better.

Hillary would have been praised. You have to realize this is the epicenter of the cancer we call liberalism. All of them in one small bubble living out of reality and blind to real word issuesand the fact that Hillary is a criminal. He is free to say what he wants but why stop, a play and do this crap when the people there paid good momey to see their play? Was it that important? Did he achieve anything at all? No and no.

Yes, expression of free speech. Not harassment or humiliation. They couldn't have been more respectful in delivering their message (not talking about the boos). Read that Pence stopped in the outer ring to listen to the message. He's a public figure now, as he was before. Just a bigger stage. Just because you don't like the message doesn't make it disrespectful.

Yeah, I suppose it was an exercise in free speech, Baldo, just like Dr. Carson at the Prayer Breakfast.
However, Dr. Carson was talking about Obama's known performance as a president. Not so at "Hamilton". To me it was a lecture of sorts from a bully pulpit of actors in their own environment, chiding Pence for a performance he has yet to give.
It was a cheap shot and a typical liberal disregard for persons not of their own thinking.. The booing was the same.

Once more people demonstrate their inability to understand what the right to free speech means. It doesn't mean that you are free to say whatever you want whenever you want. It does mean that you will not be legally restricted or prosecuted for specifically what you say. The founders recognized that right to oppose the environment they had come from in which you could be charged and jailed for simply speaking against the government (crown?).
Unless someone suggested that the little pukes be jailed or arrested the right to free speech was not an issue.
What is legal and what is acceptable are often two different things. Solo1 is correct in all he said except the reference to free speech. It was a cheap act of very poor behavior. That and the assholes that embrace and defend the behavior is a large part of what has been going wrong with this country.

In a year of little class, this may be the most classless act yet.
Maybe the biggest tragedy in American Theater since Lincoln and Booth at Ford's Theater.
This may play on Broadway, but will it play in Peoria. Bring this ridiculous play to our part of the Hinterland here at the Bugtussel Bichou and try it out on us. Note to Hamilton Production team. Bring a lot of chicken wire. May be more beer bottles thrown since the Blues Brothers played Bob's Country Bunker.

Did you bother to read what I posted? I don't recall anyone posting those incidents on this board and then someone else defending them. I did clearly say that if they had I would have found it unacceptable. I'm pretty sure I did not say it had never happened. What about the English language is so difficult for you to understand?

Jeanine kills it again! She starts tearing into the Hamilton crew like a pit bull about fifty seconds in. It will probably leave an emotional mark and have them scurrying off to their safe spaces with their tails between their legs. Bless their poor little hearts. https://youtu.be/a8mm_t36ugs Thanks for posting that it made my heart feel better about what happened. Matt Borges, the chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, who was often critical of Mr. Trump this year, said that though he would always support free expression, he was dismayed that the left was demanding respect from Mr. Pence while lecturing him disrespectfully in the eyes of many on the right. “It never ceases to amaze me how liberals desire acceptance and diversity for everything except political philosophy,” he said. #Boycott Hamilton Mrs. Clinton, who held a fund-raiser at a “Hamilton” performance this summer, embraced many of the values and views that the cast members described. The plea to Mr. Pence was written by Mr. Miranda; the show’s director, Thomas Kail; and the lead producer, Jeffrey Seller, with contributions from cast members, according to Mr. Seller. In an interview after the show, Mr. Seller said he learned “very late that Mr. Pence was coming to the show, and the creative team and cast members quickly reckoned with how to respond.” “We had to ask ourselves, ‘How do we cope with this?’” Mr. Seller said. “Our cast could barely go on stage the day after the election. The election was painful and crushing to all of us here. We all struggled with what was the appropriate and respectful and proper response. We are honored that Mr. Pence attended the show and we had to use this opportunity to express our feelings.”

Took Hamilton off the list of plays I would like to see
Like many, I was disgusted at the behavior of the crowd.
I was dissapointed at the lecture, but not overly offended by what I heard of the cast's leader statement at the end of the performance
If it had gone like this
"We are honored that our Vice President elect has made time with his family to join us tonight and we pray for him and our nation, we are horrified at the booing of our new Vice President who we must all accept as such and deplore any such behavior from any audience as it demeans all of us......"
then say whats on your mind which was frankly a true state of many minds

I agree Evan. I love Broadway plays. We try to get into town a couple times a year to catch a show or two. Going to lay off for a couple of years over this. They can do what they want, but not with my money.

They had VP elect Mike Pence on Face the Nation this morning, and yes, they DID cover this. Mike Pence was very graceful and complemented the cast on a great show (if it ever goes on the road it's on my must see list when it gets to the Raleigh Durham area), and the cast had put together a impromptu card asking that the incoming adminsitration consider that some people are concerned about diversity and campaign rhetoric to the contrary. If there were boo's - they came from the audience - not the cast.

Daddy O
I never said the cast booed.
I said I wish they mentioned the booing and that They did not say a word that that was WRONG behavior not condoned by them
Frankly I try not to get involved in pissing contests between members (in this case DaddyO and Gavinsons) but I must say that we have a few who set themselves out to the world as ones with higher evolutionary development Yet today, we can all see the opposite
by calling a person borderline retarded, a person who is a veteran, a former national office holder (Congress) and a sitting Governor, one shows one's true colors
Those snarky remarks are disgusting to me
Kudos to Mr Pence for not being as thin skinned as the audience and taking it (publicly at least) like a man

I agree with Oss in regards to Daddio. Daddio is on a par if not worse than Vmax, IMO, and I'm sure that the member who blows things up, remembers him ,along with the rest of our long time members.

I found out Pence did indeed say that and its all the more I admire the man and all the more reason not to have done that to him. I have never heard of Pence before his entrance as vp nomination, I will check him out some more but at this point if he ran for pres Id vote for him in a second. I have to agree with Willow though just because you can doesnt mean you should. We have lost the respect for those in power partly due to Obama. At least Trump and Pence did not make a new law that the secret service could arrest anyone protesting near the president. Remember that one? As for not believing in evolution I dont either and scientists are having a real hard time in proving their theory. Wasn't this part of the goal of Cern to find the begining of the universe? What about the god particle that was supposed to finally give mass to things that science has been unable to find a reason for this mass only to find that the god particle may indeed destroy the universe? Michio Kaku has made a name for himself as a world-leading theoretical physicist unafraid to speak his mind. I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence,” Kaku said, as quoted by the Geophilosophical Association of Anthropological and Cultural Studies. “To me it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance.” Besides the fossil trail not being found now science is having a real problem after finding out the universe is still expanding with no known explanation or theory. I give you a quote Robert Jastrow “For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance, he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcToOsQ9OigYour tyrade (spelled correctly) and words only show that put in a similar situation you would fail miserably since you cannot even interact with the people on this board with a civil discussion. Must be nice to be in an ivory tower.

Thank goodness there are folks of such self proclaimed intellect and superior cognitive skills as Daddy yo yo to keep us hicks from the sticks and hillbillies in check. Sorry for spelling your name wrong but us hicks have not figured out as yet how to use white out on a computer.
Most of what I wrote was tongue in check, sarcastic if one wishes. There was a fire(s) in theaters in the past that claimed lives that would certainly be more tragic. Bugtussel is a fictional place from the Beverly Hillbillies. The nearest theater to me is the Schuster in Dayton, Oh, but should Hamilton ever come there and someone would give me tickets, I would not go. My final sentence however I stand by and folks like you prove it all the time as you just have.
Now I do believe in evolution. In fact I have a pet chimp I call Dorwon. It is my goal to see that he evolves into a human. In fact Dorwon has a pet Rhesus Monkey. It is Dorwon's goal to see that monkey evolve into a chimp. When all this happens we will prove the theory to all of science.
I have to go now. The Bengals/ Bills game is about to enter the 4th inning.

That would explain my oft felt offense. You don't use a message board as it's expected to be used. Including a quote in one's post indicates that one's replay is specifically directed to the quoted text. If an exchange of multiple posts is quoted the reply is indicated to be in response to the most recent post quoted.
