Exhaust issues - Gotta get solution or else!!

Alright gentleman. I have officially arrived at a major crossroads and I need some good ol advice!! I love my 2001 Interstate. It’s almost my perfect bike. But two issues are really making my riding less enjoyable now. Maybe I’m just getting older I don’t know, but I must come up with a solution or I’m gonna have to get another bbbb bike.
My exhaust is just too loud.  Or maybe not so much Loud but the “drone” at mainly highway speeds is just unbearable now. Problem is I don’t really know what I’ve got and not really sure how to find it out.  Not stock, not Cobra, no name on actual pipes themselves. There is just an open 4 inch round pipe on each side. Will try to post some pics if I can figure out how. Not sure of piggie issue either and not sure how to see either but somethings gotta give here.
Secondly I gotta get cruise on board. Does anyplace install the mc cruise? 
Any advice is appreciated.

I don't want to sound too simplistic but you could buy a throttle lock which is a poor man's cruise control that's what I have on both of my bikes, and you could buy some baffles to go in those 4 inch pipes even though I don't know what they look like I know you can buy baffles or get some adapters to size them down and then put baffles in them. Again, I'm not trying to snub you but I wear earplugs when I ride almost all the time because of the droning (running stock exhaust on my Valkyrie), and I have tinnitus which kind of sucks but it comes with age and noise exposure.

There's numerous sets of OEM Valkyrie pipes on eBay right now... you
could probably get a good set for $500 ish, maybe a slightly ratty
set for $200...

When I got my Valkyrie I got a cheap ratty OEM set for it and kept
my eyes peeled on eBay for a cheap good OEM set  ... worked good

Better to do this in the dark. Look down the outlet of the each exhaust pipe, from behind the bags, the 3 exhaust tubes (piggie's) should be in a horizontal configuration in line with the rear of the bag. If not look inside and take a picture. Next look inside one of the piggie's you should be able to see the back of the baffle, what would be the front of the piggie. If some one punched a hole thru the back of the baffle, that's almost un fixable. The mufflers most likely have had a truck stack mod. The mod removes the stock chrome outer shell and replaced with a 1 piece chrome truck stacks. People cut the piggie's so they don't show. The piggie's can be rebuilt to their normal length, or extended to reach the end of the new exhaust pipe.

You're gonna havta get down and dirty and figure it out before we can help with a solution.  Maybe pull the 4" truck stacks off.

I saw a set of OEM pipes for $100.00 on ebay, or facebook.  In Georgia, so probably not going to help you, but there are good sets out there that the owners don't think they're made of 14K

I hated the drone also. It's why I'm trying to quieten my exhaust too. One reason I might give up (for now) on the copper extension of the piggies, and just slip in the silencers instead. Besides, I have a second set of bikes I can still try this on.

Get a 24" dowel rod 5/16th or 3/8s and stick it into each pig or the cut off pigs and hit the back of each baffle and see if it goes on through. the baffle is 4 to 5 inches long. most were drilled with a 3/8 or 1/2 inch bit. Like said look down them in the dark with a flash light to see if the pigs are there you will not be able to see the end of the baffle unless the pigs are gone and the 4" stack is off. The baffles if drilled can be plugged. Find out what you have and tell us. If no pigs how much pig is left sticking out?

I have the truck stack mod on mine with unmolested piggies and baffles.  The bike still drones on the highway because the truck stack acts like an echo chamber.  I am considering having the piggies extended just past the end of the stack (about 6 inches)

I have an extra stock set but cant remember if the are IS or standard. But would be willing to part with them. Bought them to do a glass pack mod but never got around to it.

someone on the board told me about the marine baffle! and it worked like a charm, all the drone is gone! he told me to drill a half inch hole in the middle and it sounds great! the best part, the drone is gone. i painted it black with grill paint and it holds up pretty good..

I cut the "piggies" off and drilled the baffles.  NOW it has that nice little growl to it.  And does NOT sound like a Honda generator!  But it is NOT too loud either.......so I found my "sweet spot".

I never put truck stacks on it though. Still running the stock ends.....

Maybe if you put the stock ends back on it, it won't "drone" as it does now?  It is a cheaper way to find out!
