Suggest you also contact Jamie Daughtry of DMr motorsports and ask about an upgrade.
Will be far less than $1000 from Traxxion. - I had him do valves and springs...
Also he did the work on my VFR....

I take it you have harshness over bumps with your I/S?
honda screwed up the front forks for the I/S.  they increased the compression damping due to the added weight of the fairing and fuel tank and decreased the rebound. I've been on many suspension websites, the only correct way to deal with heavier weight is stronger springs, not change the compression damping. Correct springs is the starting point and then change settings, oil wt/level to fine tune. Using a lighter weight fork oil, like a 5 to 7.5w will help it be smoother, playing with the oil height is also a way to change the ride. all should be done only if progressive springs are installed.  Or install a set of std/tourer forks with progressive springs and 7.5w oil.

As a general rule, too much compression damping will make the ride feel stiff and hard, ultimately meaning poor traction as the suspension reacts badly over bumps.
The biggest job being in the braking zone. Too little compression damping and the suspension could bottom out, reducing traction.  (might be why Honda increased the CD).

Yes I love everything about my Interstate ,but the harshness compared to my 89 wing. I know they are different, but a big cruzer should be better in my opinion.

when I went to progressive springs for my std/tourer with I/S tank, it became really harsh over bumps.

lowered oil level and mix amsoil 5w and 10w, I forget the ratio, but it brought it to about 7.5w. harshness is gone for the most part now. But I'm thinking of going closer to a 5w.

fork oil wts are not std so u need to know the vis when changing it.

I've had Progressive springs in my 1500 since about 2007...
I rebuilt the forks again recently, changing the seals and
bushings, and I filled them using the "measure from the top"
method in the FSM, and also primed the cartridge... they're
pretty good forks, I like them.

I have Traxxion cartridges in my 1800 Valkyrie. At the Traxxion
place they ditch the single (Valkyries and Gold Wings have
only one cartridge, one of the fork legs has none) stamped-out
cartridge and replace it with a nice machined-on-site cartridge for
each fork leg. I really like my Traxxion forks.

OK Thanks guys for the info.  I think when I rebuilt them last summer the inner adjustment wasn't all the way down. Maybe up 8 to 10 threads, and I used ATF synthetic oil. It may have been 15 #. I'll try redoing them this winter and use 5# oil and adjusting the inner adjustment to factory and see what that does. If the road isn't too bad, I can get by with it setup the way it is. But when I get on the local roads with a lot of cross cracks, it sure takes some of the joy of the ride away. Thanks Again Terry  cooldude

ATF is usually 5w.   if the level is too high it will be harsh. many have found including myself that using leas oil than the manual calls for makes for better fork operation.
