The Windsor Ruin ride. Just to get to Lorman Ms to eat the famous Mr "D" fried chicken is around a 3 hr ride one way. Then to make the run to the Ruins from the Lorman adds around 1 to 1 and a half hr to the trip. Total trip would be around 8 to 9 hrs. So if a group wants that ride I can handle it. Will post time frame on the other ride.

Lynyrd Skynyrd memorial ride would be around 5 to 6 hr round trip. Could be more if people want to ride some good back roads on the way back to ground zero.

They have it fixed up very well. Carried some last year there, plus by the local hospital they were carried to first.

David,
Where you lead a group to and the roads you choose is not my decision but, I'd think a 8 to 9+ hour day ride on Saturday after folks travel most of the day on Friday would be pushing it.   Just my opinion and others should speak up.

I'm pretty sure that Mac is planning to leading a group south to the gulf but, not sure of where on what roads he intends to ride.   As is usual, I expect a few splinter groups to go their own way.

There is a nice Armed Forces Museum right out of Hattiesburg. Very nice one and it is free to the public. I've been there and it is nice. Could do some local roads around Hattiesburg coupled with the museum visit is another ride option. Also Rose's BBQ good place to eat.

Actually, I think that's a good idea if the ride there and back is on some good curvy roads.

I have some connections at Camp Shelby that can help with an escort from the front gate to the museum and back out another gate.   I can also make arrangements with the museum director for a special tour.

Just an update for Mississippi Spring Flingers, I don't really like surprises and doubt others do either.

On Saturday, prior to the two rides departing, we will hold a gathering of riders where Mac will conduct a blessing of the bikes and riders and then, we will have a moment of silence to honor oZ.   Most of us probably wouldn't even know each other if this organization had not been formed.

oZ's memorial is the same day in California, I think it's the least we can do.   I hope everyone will participate.   Thanks

After thinking about it I'm cutting the ride to Lorman Ms. I feel it would be too much of a ride and not enough time to kick tires and lie. I'm about 75% leaning on the Military museum and local roads to have some fun roads and also time to get together.

Well darn, 75% is pretty strong. I'd vote for the ride up to the Lorman, MS or make the Lynyrd Skynyrd Mem. ride. If that helps improve the odds to reconsider? I've been to a lot of the Military museums and like them all but do that mostly w/ my wife. I was looking to ride but respect your decesion.  coolsmiley

An interesting fly just landed in the ointment.

Got a letter yesterday, a Summons to report on 28 March for jury duty that supposed to last for a week.   Well, that kind of interferes with my plans for Friday, 1 April, Mississippi Spring Fling.

The last thing I want to do is to be sitting in a jury box while all my friends and family are arriving at Ground Zero.   Maybe I won't get selected.   Although, I don't mind doing this in the least, it's timing really sucks.   I've got a lot of stuff to do that last week prior to the "Fling".

Guess we'll see where and how this goes.   Shrug.

I’m sure he’s not. It was meant as a humorous way of avoiding the loss of attending his ride.

Edit; maybe this improves the humor ? Switch to a “Let’s go Brandon” hat and an Obama “Hope” T-shirt ?

(I think if he just asks for a reschedule, he’ll get it)

OK, all kidding aside, does anyone know of anyone else coming to Mississippi that hasn't already made reservations.   Will be checking with the Double Tree and with Candlewood on where we're at.   I might be able to get more rooms at Candlewood, won't know till I check but, I have another back up location if needed.

I have a connection to Camp Shelby also. Back in the seventies, I spent two of the hottest weeks in my life inside a M60 tank. The barracks weren’t any cooler and was only in them at night. Maybe not as hot as middle eastern deserts, but the humidity,  Grin . Looking forward to the Fling and some air conditioning. cooldude
