I had five days off for Easter. I went back to work today. I was glad to be back at work since my sleep schedule was starting to slide away from professional hours into night hours. I'm about finished with work for another season. That is the blessing and curse of being seasonal.

This week has been rainy and overcast during the part that I had to commute to work. Today is a beautiful Friday! Just a little more work and I can go enjoy a small part of this day on the ride home.

I'm enjoying work while it lasts.

Commute to work, work to commute.

So my position is a full-time temporary position. I knew it was going to run out but it was still hard to read the email letting me know my position was being stopped. Luckily a full-time temporary position will be taking its place. I was invited to apply, but HR slowly put the information together. Finally, yesterday evening they released the information about the position. So, this morning as the building opened I dropped off the application. I had to be the first applicant. I have now officially applied for the job I am already doing. Nice.

I'm confident (somedays) that I will get the position again. I'm less confident other days. That seems to be how the job market is moving at the moment.

I'm lucky I'll have a job of some kind for the next few weeks. Then I'll work odd temporary hours until further notice.

Oh well. The weather is still decent and I'm still commuting. Luckily, my insurance runs until August no matter what.  The weather was good today and the bike is running fine. I'm just enjoying the little things in life.

I did about a fifteen hour day yesterday. It ended with my wife picking me up and taking me to dinner. After dinner we just headed home. My bike was parked under a street lamp and fairly safe. This morning my wife dropped me off. The bike was still there. Today I will ride home after another long day.

The day has been productive in spurts. Overall this has been a long week for no apparent reason. Perhaps the lack of riding in is wearing me down. I do usually feel better after a nice ride. I feel more productive after a nice commute. Today I'm just plowing through.

I'm still waiting to hear from the hiring committee. I expect they'll be in touch since they're interviewing for the job that I am currently doing. Perhaps they won't. I hope that they do. My wife's job is still in limbo so one of us needs a commitment for the fall. Only time will tell.

This summer I will probably ride less than usual.

I know that I'll have to be trapped reading a few books before a test in the fall. Couple that with rising gas prices and I'll probably wind up staying put more than I would like. I was hoping I'd get to travel a little this summer. We'll just have to wait and see what fits the budget.

Grin  I haven't hit mid medicine threshold yet, but I can feel it coming.

I rode in again today.  This morning was the second morning above 70F this year.  We reached mid nineties yesterday and today.  The ride home last evening was beautiful at 84F.

Been riding to work most of the time for a while now. Yesterday was the first time this year to make the 5am ride there in shirt sleeves. It's already reached 90 degrees in our shop once this year and the humidity is already so high that condensation is dripping off all the overhead pipes and leaving wet lines on the floors. Soon it will be hot enough I can sweat out most of my mountain dew and coffee instead of making so many trips to the bathroom. Cry Man, ridin' home on the scooter after those days is awesome. Every ride home feels as good as leaving school on the last day of the year with Alice Cooper screaming "schools out forever" on the radio.

Work sucks less when I know the scooter is waiting on me and I can step out and take a look at her on my breaks. It's especially sweet when I have to take the Valk to go pick up parts. Even more so since otherwise I'm using my 12 mpg truck!

Tomorrow is Fryeday, one of 52 holidays named after me. Grin If I ride tomorrow I'll probably have to take the long way home!!!

So, I work from home the vast majority of the time. On a conference call this morning they needed someone to go to Lewisville (40 miles away) and pick a hard drive up and take it to Plano (15 miles from Lewisville) then head back to my home office (30 miles.)

On no Br'er Bear, please don't throw me into that thar briar patch!

Er, I mean... yes, for the good of the team I'm willing to hop on my bike and ride just under 100 miles round trip in the middle of the work day. I don't know how I'll be able to make this sacrifice, but I'll do it!

So, I guess I rode to work today! Wink

I am off this summer and riding very little since no money coming in sadly equals no gas money. I've been home long enough that a reason to head to the office today excites me. It'll be good to ride in, but it will also be nice to head into work for a little while. Riding the couch has stopped being fun.

Picked up my I/S in Montana on June 4th. Today was only the second day I have not rode it to work. Took it apart last night for Darkside conversion. Found a broken shock on the left side.  Angry

Rode to work today

They are painting the subway (its elevated in the Bronx) and half the sidewalk is blocked off and its NOISY outside

Fortunately there is room to park the police bike against the front brick wall of the office

Clear sunny high of 86 degrees today

Good on ya OSS.  Rode today also.  Only missed about 3 days in the month if June.  But, it's gonna be about 98 when I leave for home.    Sad. But that's summer time in South TEXAS.

My truck thinks I died!! If I hadn't had to take my daughter's TV back to the store one day, I would have ridden every day in June. Last Monday, had me a little worried - horizontal rain and wind, when I left work to go home - blew me all over the road, but I made it. Everyone thought I was crazy, because I just went out and hopped on, and rode home, blinding rain and all. Especially the HD "perfect weather, 3 times a year" rider - I told him first, that some ride the bike, and some wear the shirt! Then, when he asked the next day about the ride, I told him "Well, some people keep their bike dry, and some people dry their bike!". Just love keeping it going...

Weather's supposed to be perfect, the rest of the month!

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain!!!!!!!!!

Most of my life can be explained: metro-boulot-dodo. Subway, work, sleep, in my case means motorcycle, work, sleep. I have spent the past several years working 50 hour weeks and do little resting. Therefore, when I finally hit the summer where I am not working or studying everyone around me expected I would rest and enjoy the break. As it turns out when the boulot went away so did the commute which has only left sleep.

I've read. I've watched movies. I've enjoyed a little yard work.  However, the cycle is wearing down on me.

Luckily, I once again made up a reason to head to the office. I came in earlier than I needed. I'm not sitting my office reading and working on a little research. It is still quiet and dull but on the way to quiet and dull I enjoyed the commute and stopping down the hallway to talk to coworkers.

I can't wait for the summer to be over so I can get back to work.

Big - thanks!! I strongly believe in learning AT LEAST one thing new every day. Today's was metro-boulot-dodo - may tro boo lo do do. What a nice saying! For 10 years, I read 3 or 4 books a week, week in, week out. And I had never seen that expression. Thanks again!

Oh yeah, rode today....OF COURSE!! Made it official, every day but one in June, but DID work two extra "overtime" days - does that counteract the day I didn't ride? And it WAS for a good cause, my daughter...?

Yep, ridin' to work rocks. I park just outside the break-room window so I can get an eyeful of Little Martha at lunch. Only bad thing about it is that I'm even more anxious to leave when the Valk is waiting on me.

I rode to work today and signed the paperwork to be permanent. Sure, I have a six month probation period, but since I have been there for years already I'm not sweating the mandatory time. I was going to organize a few things in my office, but forgot my keys. I suppose I'll have to ride back later in the week and do that. I'm ready to get back to work again. angel

I'm not gloating or anything... but I have forgotten what my car is.  I think...   We're in a major drought here in Indiana.  we had 23 90+ days in a row.  I rode AGAIN to work today, and got sprinkled on a little.  SO WHAT!

Not to mention that sometimes I have to go to jobsites... some close... some a hundred or more miles away.  And on THOSE days I get paid, both my hourly wage AND $.55 per mile to RIDE!  Holy Moly!!! I am a lucky Jabba on THOSE days.

Not that I am gloating or anything... I'd NEVER do THAT!   angel

Hi All. Being a gardener,I will never get to ride a Valk to work. Can't imagine my work trailer behind a bike. Back in the day,I worked partime at a local tv/stereo shop owned by a friend of mine.I was on straight commission and loved that work.Best of all,all the money I made was my "Mad Money" to play with.  Great "Saftey Chrome Fund". I did ride my Tourer to work afew times but was not comfortable parking out back so the boss let me park it by the front door so I could keep an eye on it.
One of his friends comes in and comments that business must be great if he could afford a bike like that. He replied back saying that business was so good that the Valk belonged to the partimer.

Nice tourer you have there,,, I've been trying to sell Tina on the idea of picking up a standard or a tourer to use for our "local" rides.

I awoke early with excitement this morning. It felt great to be riding back to work again. The non-working summer has been quite dull so it will be nice to have a reason to get up in the morning. Riding to work will be a bonus after that. I can think of better places to ride, but this is the only one that will pay me for showing up.

It's good to be back.

Even better. Today was a quick day. So I've already ridden home too! Nice. The rest of the week will get longer and longer and the twelve hour days kick in next week.

So, I rode the bike out from Amarillo, TX to Charlotte NC. Since it is the only mode of transportation, I have been on the bike since July 5th and riding to work and other places since.  40 days as of today and counting. Already have taken rural rides of 300 and 200 miles not including the 500 Saturday ride a few weeks ago.  Yes the math is right, flew home for 2 days and did not count that Sat and Sun. Expect to ride up to Sept 2nd when I fly back for the holiday and drive the car out here. Bet the car stays in the garage most days though. coolsmiley

I feel more productive when I am here. The rides in have been cool and short. The rides home hours later are also cool but longer. This morning I commuted from campus to campus but haven't been back out on the bike since. I can't complain since Ive spent most of today previewing movies for a foreign film night. Can't beat riding to work and then being paid to watch films.

Life is good.

I'm trying to adjust to my new schedule. I don't have to be here until 9:00 but I keep coming in at 7:30. Today, I finally realized I was way to early, so mid-commute I hit the next right turn and added a few miles. I'm still early but at least I saw a few different roads on the way. I can learn to work with that. I was pulling onto the property when I finally had to pull down my sun shade. Otherwise it was a great ride in, coasting around in my shirt sleeves, enjoying the start to a wonderful day.

Commute to work, work to commute.

With the extreme heat and dealing with the newborn triplets, I haven't ridden much at all lately... However, the spousal unit's first day back to work after maternity leave was yesterday, and.... She's an ATGATT type, and SHE rode her bike to work. In a full jacket, full face, gloves, etc (Heck, she even wore a SWEATER under her jacket!) even in this heat, so I figured I needed to just get over the heat and ride today..... So..... 40 miles each way to my new position (Same job, same pay, add 80 mile round trip daily commute + $6 in tolls, but c'est la vie...)

And yeah, it felt REAL good to finally be out in the wind again, even if that wind is more like a blast furnace!
